Cool, doesn't matter for me anyway because Luiz is rated highly by our manager and will continue to play a lot.

we have been linked with plenty on CBs over the transfer windows and even now.

plus just like the mata rumors i would think there must be some truth in even the luiz rumors.

anyways the only difference between the 2 of us is - u r happy with the way luiz performs and things like " Luiz is rated highly by our manager and will continue to play a lot."

meanwhile i will be happy when luiz actually fulfils his immense potential, and starts playing every match like a WC defender.

Right, so we both agree that Luiz has immense potential and that he can play like a WC defender - but the way you speak of him it's like you don't rate him as a player whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure we've both seen enough great games from Luiz to know that right now he isn't having the best of times and that he could be playing better. I'm not happy with his performances at the moment but like any player I understand that anyone could hit bad form.

Hazard, for example, has not been amazing either but is starting to kick on now. Why you can't do the same with Luiz instead of basically saying we should sell him even though you do clearly think he has the ability is pretty mind boggling to me.

Luiz has had the same problem since the day he came to cfc. this is not a nothing thing with luiz. this is not a worry about his "form" which i feel is perfectly alright.

i dont even know what exactly to name/call luiz's problem. his problem is definitely not his attitude/passion (which in fact is great). the closest i can come to is his concentration. or simply put his brain-fart. and this problem of his was in 2011 and the all the way to the date.

ps - please read my posts with "TOMO". you would know how exactly i rate luiz. infact that is the worst part of luiz. knowing how well he can play but actually watching him play the way he is doing right now.

People refuse to criticize Hazard because he is seen as an immense talent that will eventually win Ballon D'or (which he might - probably will) even though he hasn't played at a very high level consistently for us like he did at Lille in the 2-3 seasons where he established himself as a world class talent before he left... looking at Luiz, he has played very well at times and looked a 21 million pounds defender for a while where as Hazard has looked a 32m player in maybe 5, 6 or 7 full games.

Cardiff, Everton, Everton (last season)....

oh wait, are those not big matches? Because people still pay the same prices for the tickets and travel to turn up and support the team. Maybe this is the mentality Luiz needs to adopt because if he wants to be captain of this club then he needs to treat every match like it's as big a match as the kid turning up to see his first match is treating it.

It's all very well having 'personality' (big hair and he does thumbs up a lot) but real personality is turning up and giving 100% every time. If he needs an example of that then there's a guy stood next to him who has done that for the last decade, and one in front and one behind him too.

Well, first my response was because it was said in the thread in a few posts about how he's unreliable in big games, and that's a lie imo. Then I said about games against lesser opponents and less important game. So that was the context...

I did say though he has concentration issues that should be addressed by Mourinho and that he needs to fix it because we can't afford him to be casual, sloppy and lack concentration on matches, regardless of their importance.

Someone mentioned the 2011 game against ManU. I don't remember which sloppy mistake he did, but he was still getting used to English football back then. Today the same can't be said and he should be fully concentrated and sharp at all matches if he wants to be in the starting XI at all matches.

*****************************************************************************************************************************************

And just to be clear, and add another comment I refrained from the first time. If I'm never insecure and afraid when JT/Luiz are our CBs I can't say the same when Cahill is there, regardless of the partner. Luiz makes mistakes because he is sometimes sloppy, Cahill makes much more mistakes and normally because of his limitation as a CB. So unless we sign someone big, discussing how Luiz should leave the team is laughable imo. Then again I look all other CBs and I really don't see anyone better than him who's viable. The most viable thing is for Mourinho reinforce discipline on Luiz and then we'll have hands down the best defender in the world. If he has to push Luiz to the bench once in a while for that to happen, I'm fully behind the idea, but that's for Luiz to grow, not because Cahill deserves the spot because he definitely doesn't imo. Cahill is at most decent, can only do textbook defending and even then is prone to mistakes because he has no vision, he has terrible ball control, he can't anticipate EVER, he's a totally reactive defender. He's a hard worker, he positions himself fairly well, his movement isn't that bad and with someone as slow as Terry is right now, Cahill doesn't compliment him at all because he's not that fast himself and always does the predictable marking, making it easier for opposition attackers. He's good as a squad member, but that's about it. So let's talk about Luiz leaving at least when we have someone as good to replace him - which btw is hard to find. Some names suggested here made me laugh (Hummels actually made me choke on my drink when I read - for real)

Glad he's been dropped, to be honest. Cahill has played 7 matches this season and hasn't put a foot wrong. He always looks imperious alongside Terry. Plus he was immense for England in the two games against Montenegro and Poland. Deserves to start; Luiz's error on Saturday was utterly farcical and I'm glad Mourinho has acted on it, in truth. I honestly think we're a better, tighter side defensively with Cahill over Luiz. Just my opinion.

Agree with that. I too think Luiz is has the ability to be a world-class defender, but he needs to change his mindset a bit.

You only have to look at his recent matches with Brazil to see what he's capable of.

I'm not saying he lacks passion when playing for Chelsea (I remember how upset he was in the CWC final), but he does seem to be far too laid back in some of the run-of-the-mill games. You can see this in instances, like when Chicharito scored at OT back in 2011, Bale scored in the FA cup semi final and the recent game against Cardiff. He needs to get this out of his system pronto.

united? when chicha owned him so many times that its embarassing.

moreover how do people forget the 2010-11 match against united at OT when if we had won, we could have won the title. but our title challenge stood for about 30 seconds there courtesy of luiz.

The same title race when we were 12 points off the top when David Luiz arrived and he single handedly got us back in the race?

We weren't winning it that season even if we won at Old Trafford, the damage was done in December. Also both JT and Luiz were at fault, Luiz for playing Hernandez offside, Terry on, but of course if forgot, Luiz is the only defender to ever make mistakes.

Oh and just to add, he personally has a superior record against Man.Utd in head to head's. He has also never been on the losing side against Arsenal or Spurs.

Luiz single handedly got us back into the title race? What?!

Well, we would have been 18 points behind United had we lost to them at Stamford Bridge, Luiz's fantastic 2nd half performance especially won us that match, in where he scored the equalizer, he maybe was lucky not to walk, but the player he fouled should have been suspended, so swings and roundabouts.

Then their was the City game, nothing got past him the defense and he won the free kick and scored from it to give us the lead.

He was a big part in us recovering our season to an extent, their were matches he was literally the only positive in a stagnant Chelsea team.

Maybe so...but that was only 2 games. You made it out as if Luiz dragged us back all by himself in the subsequent games..

Maybe i should have explained he point better, but it's those two games that got us back in it aswell and above all that he defiantly helped restore some form of pride in that season, i usually try and look at the positives but even i was struggling that season.

Spot on. If you don't get dropped after that type of performance then when do you? Hopefully he responds well if he's brought back in against City, which I expect he would because it's a 'big game'.

This is perhaps why he has detractors. His mistakes aren't a result of a lack of skill or ability, but switching off and that's something fans will never forget. It's almost dishonest to not give everything you can in every match and he does show signs of that against 'smaller opposition'. If he's a realistic contender for skipper then he's got to cut that out right now or Jose will drop him.

Absolutely. He is an incredibly talent footballer, and possibly the best all-round player in our squad, particularly on a technical level. On a mental level, which is the most-important part of football, he isn't all there. He has occasional brain-farts. Let's face it, we all do, and our whole squad will make mistakes. I firmly believe, that as a coach myself, I know no player will ever wittingly cross that white line with the intention of making a mistake. HOWEVER, should it happen to one of my players a number of times, I take them out of my team. Mourinho has done the same, and I personally think fairly. Cahill was brilliant yesterday. Luiz knows he will have to improve to get back into the team, now.
