man this whole ``switching off`` :cfc: thing with Luiz is so overrated even some of the worlds greatest defenders had moments where they switched off and I`m talking before age crept in and most stayed with their clubs until retirement.. The offer is fantastic but not to be considered why sell someone who other teams rate so highly when we don`t actually need the funds we are not bolton we have a budget.. Luiz has consisently gotten better since he arrived here and now we underrate his contributions to the team.. and like someone said before luiz is part of the new spine of this team lets face it the old guard are being put out to pasture one at a time and some have gone as far as said can see him being the captain of the team.. if that doesn`t scream spine of the team then I dunno what does..

All in all Luiz must stay if you all really still want us to play attractive football out the back and build our own identity in world football that people will call the Chelsea Way!!

I can understand when others who don't watch Chelsea regularly go on about how Luiz is a liability and makes a couple big mistakes every game because that's the reputation he's gotten, but when even Chelsea fans claim the same it shocks me a bit. Luiz was our BEST CB this past season, and this isn't an opinion, it's a FACT!

And, even if someone bids 40M for him, why would you sell your best CB? Teams like Swansea etc. sell their best CB not Chelsea. You sell Luiz as he's reaching his prime, what precedent are you setting? Damn sure, people like Hazard, KDB, Oscar will bring it up if they ever want to leave.

He absolutely was our best CB last season. That doesn't mean he can't switch-off at times though.

Utter bollocks mate. No player from any team is off-limits if the money is right.

You would sell your best CB if you thought you could use that money to re-invest and make your team better. That's just the way football works. This notion that we aren't a selling club is fucking ridiculous - all clubs sell players, but the criteria varies.

The simple fact is not a single person who says we shouldn't sell him is saying that he's the finished article. Everyone inserts the caveat of 'just imagine what Jose can do with him' - that's why he's not what I consider part of our spine yet. He needs to further refine his game, stop taking certain chances and continue to improve, but that's a lot of things to consider when someone possible bids €45 million for a player.

Don't agree. If Chelsea consider him first choice they won't sell him. Yeah you can re-invest that money and improve other areas but we have the means to improve other areas without SELLING first XI players.

And it's absolutely silly to create yet more problems for ourselves when the CB area isn't exactly a major area of concern right now. Said it before, selling Luiz would mean we have to buy 2 more quality CBs given how average Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic are right now and the inexperience of the younger ones. Not to mention, there aren't many quality CBs available out there right now and even if their respective club is willing to sell, they will only try to rip us off knowing we are in need of a top notch CB. In the end, we'll probably end up paying the same amount for that CB like we did with Luiz, if not even more.

And sure enough Brazil defense looked a lot worse once he came off. I have to say I'm not that enthusiastic with Thiago Silva; certainly a good defender for sure, but I'm NOT on in the "best cb" bandwagon. Thiago "looks" composed and cool, which is a striking difference to Luiz's intensity, but when it comes to stopping opponents I'll take Luiz any day of the week and twice on Sundays. You clearly see that opponents loathe facing Luiz (akin to Ramires) because of his aggression and physical game. And they don't even complain because they know that's how he plays.

First 2 goals conceded by Brazil when David was no longer on the pitch. Dante looked OK, losing Balotelli's dispute for second goal, but it was a brilliant move. Thiago misread the play completely and backed off until the FW had a clear shot and scored-huge mistake by Thiago.

also the time when Dante completely air kicked a cross into the box and the ball almost put Balotelli one on one vs the keeper.

It's funny when an "English" CB tackles hard and takes the ball and the man, the commentators say he was either going to take the ball or both and wasn't going to let the attacker get a sniff. They compliment him. When Luiz gets a bit aggressive, they criticize him to no end. Now, I'm not condoning Luiz's rashness, that's what it is, it is rash. Just pointing out the double standards. Easy to pick on Luiz, it's the mark of a poor pundit imo.

Just today, Lawrenson bitches about Luiz for 5 minutes cause of an aggressive tackle on Balottelli and then Luiz tries a similar tackle succesfully this time and stops the Italian player from going clean through but this time Lawrenson doesn't say a word lol. Fuckin hate that cunt.

But you have to admit Luiz is prone to making some really dumb mistakes that are so avoidable. I watched the game yesterday and he must have fouled Balotelli at least 5 times in the space of 15 minutes. Every single one of those fouls was from behind when he was trying to win the ball despite Balotelli being the clear favourite each time. Smarter defenders would accept that Balotelli will be first to the ball and try to work around that. But Luiz simply bulldozed him from behind every single time and clearly fouled him. How many times do you make the same mistake before something clicks in your head? What's worrying is that he's 26, he should have grown out of this phase a long time ago. I like him and think he has some strengths that could be huge for us in the future but he really does make some downright silly decisions. He was on course to be sent off by the 30th minute yesterday but was saved by getting injured and having to be subbed off. The commentators have every right to criticise him on performances like yesterday's.

Oh I definitely agree with you. He does make silly fouls, I never argued that it wasn't a foul or even if it was a good play. I was just pointing out the double standards of commentators. All I ask is that if Luiz does something stupid, call him stupid but be consistent. And, if he does something good, compliment him just like you do for any other CB. Dante made the biggest mistakes last match, but you didn't hear a peep out of Lawrenson, he was too busy waxing lyrical about him. Just leave out the agenda if you're commentating is all I ask.

I really love david luiz but this talk about other clubs is destroying my feelings.. I hate players that talk about other clubs and we are not a club that should allow players to do so.. And a player who plays for chelsea should only talk about chelsea the best club!
