bababoom 4,478
He's not very good, defensively he's a liability.
Jype 6,398
More defenders?!A right back is one of the priorities in the summer when Bosingwa (hopefully) leaves on a bosman. Ivanovic is very much the first choice when available so whoever we go for shouldn't be a star player but someone who accepts a backup role and wouldn't be too expensive. Simpson would be good because he's English and we don't have too many homegrown players in the team but I'm not too convinced about his defensive abilities though. Could be even worse than Bosingwa...
teignman 441
Absolutely not. The Mirror must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel if they are making this stuff up. Simpson is ok(ish) defensively, but offers nothing going forward. He is young, mediocre and English though, perhaps Queen Kenny might be interested. English Freak 456
Simpson is mediocre at best. There are plenty of better players out there. We are better off giving Sam Hutchinson a proper chance at RB/CB.

ChelseaFanUK 1,014
Bruma and Kalas will more than likely never play for the first team. Hutchinson will always be a back-up, Omeruo you're looking 3 yrs or so before he even gets a look in IMO

Superblue 6,372
Rejected a 'final' contract offer from newcastle today of about £25k pw and lots of speculation now he'll sign for us. I think newcastle are preparing to sell for around £2-3m.I think if he is coming in to be a backup rb for ivanovic then it isnt bad. He's young, homegrown, cheap and has good premier league experience. IMO there isnt much out there better than ivanovic at rb so i would prefer we get a good backup cheap than pay upwards of £10m for someone not even guaranteed to be first choice. The money could be spent in better areas, namely further up the field.

He doesn't have the quality to play at a big club. Also, don't forget, he is a Man United reject.
OneMoSalah 8,887
Nooooooo no no no no no no no Newcastle you can keep this shit cunt, we will take Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa though maybe Ba and Cisse too
Superblue 6,372
I wonder how many people thought the same about Gary Cahill who was effectively an Aston Villa reject?I'm not saying he will pull up any trees but people have to look at it objectively. Would they rather spend £15m on a backup and then buy a £15m winger or save the money and spend the bulk on a special first choice player. We spent £16m on bosingwa it guarantees nothing, especially with our recent track record of right backs.
Joker10 946
LOL not even the people i know who support Newcastle rate Danny Simpson, he is considered a weak link of that team.
Jase 43,479
I wonder how many people thought the same about Gary Cahill who was effectively an Aston Villa reject?True but this is Man United we are talking about. IF Fergie had rated him, he would have kept Simpson and turn him into classy RB rather than having to go through all the problems with RB now.I'm not saying he will pull up any trees but people have to look at it objectively. We spent £16m on bosingwa it guarantees nothing, especially with our recent track record of right backs.I get where you are coming from but you also gotta think of the future. Ivanovic is already 28 and in 3-4 years time, he will need replacement and a good one at that! With the lack of quality fullbacks in football right now, it will be best for us to snap up and quality ones or has the potential to be one now for a low price rather than possibly having to pay a fortune later on.
