The red-pink godless dictatorships proved far more repressive than Spanish inquisition.
Anyway one of my two grand fathers was a priest and he died of pneumonia after a hunting expedition - no penicilline those days.
One of my fore-fore-fore ancestors who lived in the early 19th century was the bishop of Crete.
I don't think they were into the "opiation of the masses" all that much. They were teaching the children in schools and providing for the poor.

Ah the benevolent church, yes they do a good PR exercise in giving handouts from their vast wealth to the poor. A sticking plaster on capitalisms rejected.

Reminds me of mother Theresa, she was a nightmare and did more harm than good, with the churches doctrine against contraception.

Come on, the church is the benevolent institution.
Some fuddy-daddyism exists, ok.
I remember in 1967 of all kinds of thigs that could happen a Scottish vicar came to our shool and told us not to go to the Stones recital, because "it is a sin". How did a Scottish vicar found his way into a Greek school in a suburb was never explained to me.
We went of course to the Stones and next to the Hilton hotel to take autographs. Keith Richard I remember was kind, Jagger passed us by in a hurry.
But if you look at it objectively it is the enemies of the church who are all criminals of one type or another.

it is a black problem, percentage of black folk in US and black people killed by police in the US is skewed.

It's skewed due to the lower population of blacks in the US but the overwhelming majority of police murders are white and hispanic people. What also is skewed is the crazy amount of crime black people commit in relation to their population. To me that says that everyone is a potential target and just that blacks are more likely in certain scenarios (high crime suburbs, lower development, et al). It's a black problem but it's an everyone problem, this isn't my subjective opinion this is a cold hard fact: people are dying. Saying it's a black problem dismisses the fact that police in this country are trained to kill and kill they do, it's a deeply rooted problem that goes beyond skin colour (in some cases I believe racism is the crux but that is too simple for all cases). It's a national, cultural, personal and everyone problem. This could just be semantics between ourselves but this is an issue for everyone to take a stand against.

Well done for seeing the Stones

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate

That's the 'Times of Israel'. That bastion of independent reporting

No vested interest in stirring up paranoia there then :D

Yeah but it's a general saying that from Iran.

It's okay for them to say that but if a USA or Israel general says the same thing there will be an outrage.

Double standard at its finest.

The only double standards I see is Israel and the US having nuclear bombs enough times to destroy the planet 2500 times, but not allowing Iran to have any :D

Oh and its only Israel that have actually fired missiles and bombed Iran

Andrea Leadsom has quit the race to lead the Tories here's why.

The objective is to make the Tories into super-brexit party, incorporating Nigel's forces.
Nigel himself decided to ascend to the heavens.
The Ukipees as such carry on, to fish into the Labour waters now.
Cameron will become freeman of Yeovil town.
Boris takes wooden spoon.

Canada's wing of BLM is really weird. First they refused to sell a person a 'BLM' t-shirt because they are white and second they shut down the Toronto Gay Pride parade.

I can't say I can support an organisation that promotes that sort of censorship. The blind are leading the blind.

On another note; protests in Atlanta are how protests should be done. No violence, looting, rioting. A few arrests but nothing sinister. The police and the citizens should be proud of how smoothly these restless days are going.

DAVID Cameron has admitted the story about him inserting his penis into a pig’s head is ‘completely true’.

As he prepared to leave office, the outgoing prime minister told his last cabinet meeting that he ‘had indeed done something dirty with a dead pig’s head’, adding: “I’ve still got it”.

Eyewitnesses outside 10 Downing Street confirmed that a pig’s head was among the objects being placed in the removal van.

A Downing Street spokesman said: “After he admitted it he was obviously incredibly relieved to finally get it off his chest.

“The Cabinet members then gave him a standing ovation and Theresa May said it would be his greatest legacy.

“It was all very emotional.”

I like how everyone mocks and jokes but deep down they know they've done some stupid things like that.
