Fulham Broadway 17,335
Tragedy in Saudi. People go there stripped of possessions as symbolic we come into this world with fuck all and go out the same.I notice some of the Saudi authorities are already accusing the pilgrims. Too early to play the blame game imo, but Hajj has become more and more advertised over the years with Saudi hotel and holiday packages etc so the organisers need to look more at the safety aspects. cosmicway 1,333
There should be one British league, with England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales together. The idea of having three separate football-wise nations, is a relic of the distant past from beforethewars.Football was regarded as an inland sport so, they said, why not have a few British national teams to play each other ?The British did not even participate in the first European champion cups, the Pushkas-Di Stefano years, To the football supremos of the time it looked a low key affair, like one of those American summer series we have now (the one CFC took part this year). It was England only back then and in fact the team was not bad really. They could n't win the world cup, but they were good - not the "this is a ball and this is a net" stuff we hear today. The artificial division does n't make sense anymore and the nations should unite. Iggy Doonican 4,186
The reason that Cardiff, Swansea and Newport play in England is there's no professional leagues in Wales. That's why Celtic and Rangers will never play in England. Also don't forget that the E.C.B. in Cricket is the English and Welsh Cricket Board. As for the old European Cup Chelsea would have been the first English team to play in it but the board turned it down. They asked Matt Busby at Man United the following year and they said yes ultimately because they had such a good young team. Of course we know how tragically that ended in there second season.
