Fulham Broadway 17,362
Just how the 'Daily mail' knows this is anyones guess, but he'd be a fool not to anyway. Interesting about Brendan Rogers. Roman’s patience with dismal Chelsea snaps By NEIL ASHTON - Roman Abramovich is planning an overhaul of the management and playing staff at Chelsea after privately conceding that he made key mistakes in the wake of Jose Mourinho's departure. Chelsea's billionaire benefactor recognised problems with the structure at Stamford Bridge long before Sunday's Carling Cup final defeat to Tottenham. Bridge shake-up: Abramovich will act after errors since Jose Mourinho left Avram Grant is not the only member of staff under threat and it is understood that a number of key personnel have effectively been placed on trial until the end of the season. Abramovich told close friends as recently as last week that he had made errors in a number of crucial areas at the club and has taken full responsibility for their current plight. Problems with Chelsea's playing style were confirmed when they fought out a dreadful 0-0 draw with Liverpool earlier this month. Sources at the club subsequently claimed that Grant appeared more intent on extending the club's unbeaten home record than 'taking the game' to Liverpool. Despite strict instructions from 'upstairs' to replicate the attractive football that has forced the club to covet the services of Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard, Grant appears more interested in safeguarding his position by making Chelsea difficult to beat. Intriguingly, following Sportsmail's exclusive story yesterday that Rijkaard is ready to talk about taking over at Chelsea in the summer, the Dutchman left pre-match press conference duties for this weekend's game against Atletico Madrid to assistant Johan Neeskens for the first time. The pressure on Grant is increasing because Chelsea have scored just 10 goals in nine games and three of them were in the FA Cup tie with League One Huddersfield. It is understood that the last straw for Abramovich was the dismal 0-0 draw with Olympiacos in the Champions League last week. Highly rated first-team coach Brendan Rogers is in line for a more influential role. Chelsea's stars claim he is 'outstanding'. Grant upset players not involved in the Carling Cup final by not allowing them to stay at London's Landmark Hotel the night before the game. Right back Paulo Ferreira was in complete bemusement and distraught when omitted from the squad. Daily Mail
pippin 0
paulo isnt so beamused with things that he didnt he just sign a new contract? though i think a shake up is needed why the hell we need all these coaches is beyond me and if one is rocking the boat with the players then he has to go it isnt the coaching staff that are coming on with ten minutes to go to help you win a game is it. the big worry is that we lose clarke in the shake up i think if he goes alot of the players may put in transfer requests
Fulham Broadway 17,362
Good point about Clarke P. Hopefully Abramovich realises hes a fans fave, and wouldn't make the mistake of offloading him. Another ex Chelsea addition such as Zola or Hughes would be a good replacement for Grant. Fulham Broadway 17,362
Yeah it would be a tragedy if it went tits uo with Zola. On the plus side hes been taking loads of coaching exams so he could be one for the future , maybe in a dual role
BlueLion. 21,491
The most likely situation seems that Rijkaard will come in during the Summer with Henk and Steve remaining as assistants, with Brendan Rogers promoted to a senior coaching role. PaulHopkins 1
Grant has been criticising them in his pre-match interview - he's gone pretty nuts at the media actually and quite rightly so. Surely we won't have Rijkaard in? I'm not so sure of that being a positive. What if Grant wins us the treble? (Okay I admit it looks unlikely right now) Surely then he must stay - I don't think we need to go scouting for managers just yet.
misschief 24
Why shouldn't the press have an opinion? He didnt deliver the sexy, attacking football he was supposedly going to this season, he's clueless tactically, we lost against Spurs of all people in the CC, players are unsettled and unhappy and we're having punch ups in training. Didnt worry him when it was Jose's back they were on did it? What goes around comes around.

I don't understand what has happened especially as it has coincided with the return of our "star" players.

I wouldnt say we've looked exciting this season but its obvious things started to go wrong as soon as Grant had choices to make. Up until that point, injuries and then ACON meant the team pretty much picked itself. The minute he has everyone available, we get to see the real Grant - a clueless fuckwit who really hasn't got the first idea how to pick his nose nevermind a first eleven. kbchel 2
zola have no coaching experience....remember this is a star studded club.... not just anyone can step in and be the coach..... look at the crisis madrid have for so many years....unless we get a strong coach we will be like them winning nothing for years
bigbluewillie 1,930
well now "the gormless one" has come out and said that the press is on his back and showing him disrespect because he lost one game. well mr gormless no it's not because you/we lost one game that everyone is on your back, it's because you picked a starting 11 that was so lopsided it beggered belief, and then you fucked up the system, no tactics, no formation whatsmore your totally fucking clueless...... and then you tell us that if any other manager had been in charge we'd be feiting them, well that would probaly been down to the fact that we'd would have won the CC with any other manager but you. regards:JBD

Weak performances against Man Ure, The Arse, Liverpool, Olympaikos and now Rottenham. Not to mention home draws against the likes of Fulham. It was another embarrassing show on sky sports yesterday, watching the grinch get angry. Must make the players quake in their boots when they see him like that eh
