Chelsea teenager Scott Sinclair has linked up with Charlton Athletic on loan for the rest of the season. Sinclair has yet to establish himself in the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge and has already been on loan at Queens Park Rangers this term.

He will now spend the closing months of the campaign at the Valley after rejecting interest from other Championship clubs.

"I'm really excited to be here," Sinclair told Charlton's official website.

"I've come here to get more experience, and I want to keep playing and get some goals for the club.

"There were a few clubs in for me, but I thought Charlton would be the right one for me and I'm sure I've made the right choice."

The 18-year-old has made six appearances for Chelsea this season and feels his stint at Charlton will boost his prospects of becoming a fixture in Avram Grant's plans at his parent club.

He added: "I've had a few starts for Chelsea, but it's been frustrating trying to break through there, with all the good players they have.

"That's why I've chosen to come to Charlton. It's a club that seems like it is ready for the Premier League and I think with the squad that we have got we can definitely reach it."

Lol, he might do!!

Still think it was the wrong thing to do and he could have done a job for us if Grant had the balls to play him! Just hope he has a storming end to the season with them and makes a real case for next season!

I suppose he is only 18. But with these loan deals what of the player ? Psychologically it can go two ways. They either try to improve or say fuck it and knuckle down with the loan club. Also, he's going to bond with his new teammates, etc. Bottom line they have been told they're 'not good enough'

I'm not sure these loan deals are always a good idea. Its only good financially, and we dont need any cash.

What is certain, we could do with Sinclairs innovation against Wham on Saturday imo.

The fact he has been a first team squad member this season and made a handful of appearances says a lot about him considering he is only 18.

I think he should be past loan deals now, but loan deals are important, because it is only playing first team competitive football that you can make the final part of the learning curve! He has proved already that he can do it at Championship level, but i just hope he has a stormer while there.....

I agree Sinclair would be a useful option. I guess Grant just won't take the risk considering he is under immense pressure..

Hes proven he can do it at Premiership level in my book.

Grant under pressure ? Mmm, wonder what his cholesterol levels like. Would hate to think of any sort of cardiac arrest.

Indeed he has proven it, played against all of the big 3 teams too and been able to perform so it doesn't get much bigger than that..

Lol, i bet you would... :)

I don't know why you're all convinced of Sinclair, I am not very convinced at all. He's done it against lower league teams, but that's not good enough! He was awful against Liverpool in the Carling Cup for example and they were playing a reserve team. He's got fantastic potential and I'm sure he can do the business for us soon, but he's not doing it yet in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong, I think it's a great idea to put youngsters out on loan for first team experience, but in my opinion, Charlton is one of the worst places to go, im fairly local and know quite alot about them, and their confidence is low at the moment and their facilities are poor.

Saying that since O'hara came back from Millwall hes been on fire for us....

Good luck to the lad!

Maybe he'll restore their confidence and volia promotion and he'll be confident etc.Better then waiting around and seeing what crazy Grant decides to do next.

And agree in some games he hasnt been so good but to be fair he hasnt played many first team games. His prem debut didnt go as planned but meh,a loan best thing and hope he comes back full of lalalaness.
