manpe 10,861
As I see he's a right-back and 25 years old. Tbh, I haven't heard much about him. Let's see what happens
BlueLion. 21,491
Decent player in my opinion, United are supposedly interested in him too. I see he is a back-up incase we fail to land either Alves or Sergio Ramos.
James 5,330
Bosingwa has recently became a regular in the Portugal squad, overtaking Miguel as the country's first choice right-back so he must be a very good player.

DavidEU 2,023
From The Times Online Chelsea are close to a deal to sign Jose Bosingwa from Porto for a fee in the region of €20million (£15.8million). Bosingwa is a fast, overlapping right-back who has broken into the Portugal side in recent seasons and would be expected to replace Paulo Ferreira, his fellow countryman, as the first choice at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa have been tracking Bosingwa, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A deal could be announced on Monday, according to reports in Portugal. Bosingwa, 25, is expected to be offered a four or five-year contract. Porto have been holding out for money because 20 per cent of the transfer fee needs to be paid to Rui Neno, an agent who owns a share of the player’s economic rights. Chelsea will need to take full control of the player to adhere to new Premier League rules against third-party ownership. Bosingwa will play for Portugal in the European Championships next month, but was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He moved to Seia in central Portugal when he was young. He began his career mainly playing in midfield for Boavista, for whom he made more than 40 appearances. He also played as a right-back, winger and defensive midfield player. He moved to FC Porto in 2003, where he played under Jose Mourinho, the former Chelsea manager. He was an unused substitute when FC Porto defeated Monaco 3-0 in the Champions League Final in 2004. He has been the club’s first choice right back for the past three seasons. Three years ago, Bosingwa was involved in a serious car accident when his jeep skidded off the motorway and rolled down an embankment before bursting into flames. He was with four other players at the time, but all escaped alive. However, Sandro Luis had to have his left foot amputated as a result of the accident. James 5,330
Bluelion he is too good to be back up for any one he is one of the best full backs. Yeh if your going to spend near to 16million on a right back then his going to start as first choice in that postion.

wisey11zola25 142
OUR DEFENSIVE WEAK LINK.i think most on this forum are in favour of him and rate him, just wanted to see if anyone else agress with me that he is not good enough!Don't really have the time to write all my reasons but i will back up my statement if theres big disagreement.I can't help but feel its the fact that hes portugese that he gets the nod over playing...Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole.I understand today may have been an acception due to Luiz's 120 minutes in the Carling Cup, but i just don't rate him highly enough to be starting in our defence.Poor tackler and Poor Marker (At fault for the goal conceded today and most other goals conceded from crossed balls)
zolayes 14,489
I have too much respect for AVB to think he bases his selections on nationality
Kez 2,727
He's good going forward I think that's his strength but yeah he is weak defensively. I'd much rather see Ivan at right back he hasn't done a bad job there so far.
BlueLion. 21,491
...a full-back.What do you expect him to be, a miracle worker? He's competent both defensively and going forward, if you want defensive rigidity go for Ivanovic, if you want an attacking flair then Bosingwa is your man.He can't be both. Sheva. 5,373
Don't think AVB wants to play Ivan as RB, which is why Bos has been playing a lot.Expect us to get a new RB in the summer, or maybe even in January. Kojo 4,676
Jesus christ everyone is overreacting over one mistake from a free kick. He was solid in defence today, he played well, bad crosses, but he's made good crosses too, that's something he can't change, but defensivly on that set piece he can change, because all he needed to do was go forward and clear it, AVB will sort that out, just like AVB told him to make a more defensive approach, and he did. He's played brilliant in his games before this one, it's been his worst performance yes, but he had a solid game. It's crazy in my opinion how you are overreacting from this. Sheva. 5,373
What ever happen to trying to Van der Wiel? He's just like Bosingwa, good at going forward, average at defending.
wisey11zola25 142
Wasn't having a dig at AVB, im as big a fan as any of him, just thinking of reasonsI understand the full-back argument but i just think hes too clumsy (especially defensively) but also the majority of the time when attacking, watched the game today on a stream and he had about 5 simple crosses within the opening 20 minutes that which he either rolled to the opposition or sliced into the shed end,When he gets it right, fair play to him, but i don't feel hes consistent enough, and whilst we concede so many from set pieces/aerial balls i think its safer to have Brana there, who also attacks pretty well and is a lot more consistent both defensively and in playing the simple cross/pass.I know full-backs arent expected to be top class defenders at all times, but with the attacking force we have and the offering of Ash as an attacking full back i just feel we need that extra defensive support and then we still have the pace and movement of Meireles,Ramires,Ashley,Sturridge/Nico,Mata to work the wings and accelarate up-field.
