I think he could have a big future here, but he is unlikely to be a starting Xl player immediately. Will he accept getting slowly bleed in over 1 or maybe even 2 years, or will he do a Lukaku and demand to go?

'There is (loan technical coach) Eddie Newton and (assistant) Paulo Ferreira doing a great job and they visited me quite a few times.

'They would also send me videos of my games, telling me where to improve. I always watched those videos, would take the advice on board and take it into the next game, even though sometimes I’d forget another thing! I got all the help I needed.'

And the 21-year-old says he feels better prepared to compete with England's elite following his time with Gladbach.

He added: 'I have come back to Chelsea a better player than the one that left two years ago. I played about 80 games in two seasons and I have a lot more experience. I have a bit more toughness, more mental than physical.

'The physical side of things is something I still have to build on, but mentally it has given me a lot. I’m more confident, I feel ready for bigger things. I was up against a lot of top strikers, big teams.'

While Gladbach helped him add steel to his game, Christensen is now learning a more cultured brand of defending courtesy of Chelsea team-mate David Luiz.

He claims Luiz is a 'a great guy to learn from' and that they both like to play football from the back.

Sounds like a smart guy, especially that he recognizes that he needs to build the physical side. Also great to see that he's being tutored by Luiz, I imagine he can learn a great deal from him.

Yeah, good read and that's great attitude!

Not being a very physical CB he will have to rely on technique and pace - he has plenty of pace and reckon Luiz will be able to help a lot on the technical side.

I hope this puts to bed the accusations that we loan players out and then forget about gen. I have read multiple accounts of loanees appreciating the support they get from the staff in that time which is unique for a club with such a high number of loans.

I have big hopes for Christensen, nothing against Rudiger, but i would prefer that he becomes the starter in place of Cahill instead of Rudi

As long as they have equal opportunities to prove themselves, sure.

He will be on the bench most of the season, the three CB's pick themselves and barring injury won't be shifted. Ruddiger will struggle to nail down a starting spot too.

I support all of our promising young talent. I believe Baker, Christensen, Musonda, Tomori and even Boga are capable of playing for us. I cross my fingers none of them go on loan this summer, but we will see.

I wouldnt be so sure regarding Cahill, he may be the captain, but Conte did said that he would be the captain WHEN he plays. I think Christensen and Rudiger may have a real shot at overtaking him this season
