Andre Villas-Boas will take his flagging Chelsea players on a five-day trip to Majorca next week designed to boost team morale.

Villas-Boas has been given permission by his bosses at Stamford Bridge to take the players on a mid-season team-bonding trip to the same destination favoured by legendary Derby, Leeds and Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough, who referred to the Spanish island as his ‘branch office’.

The Portuguese is keen to shield his squad ahead of next weekend’s powderkeg FA Cup fourth-round tie against neighbours QPR.

Chelsea captain John Terry faces criminal charges and an ongoing FA investigation following an alleged racial insult towards QPR defender Anton Ferdinand last year.

Chelsea will head back to London after their Barclays Premier League match against Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday lunchtime and fly to Majorca.

Although Villas-Boas is imposing strict training schedules on his players for schedules on his players for the duration of their break, there will be down time.

He wants to use the trip to improve relations between his players and members of the management team after yet another turbulent season at Stamford Bridge.

It will also give new signing Gary Cahill the opportunity to integrate with the squad.

The players will train at least once a day and will be under a strict 11pm lights-out curfew.

Chelsea have a midweek break because of the Carling Cup semi-finals and do not play again until their west London derby with Mark Hughes’s side on Saturday week.

This will either go 2 ways.

Their's heads will be abroad already, we will drop points at Carrow Road as LDN said their will be issue's with late night partying when we are out there and we come back and get dumped out of the cup by QPR.

or

They will be boosted by the news they are having a break and it will come across in the display at Carrow Road we will win comfortably, go to Majorca the break will do the team the world off good and we will return rejuvinated and smash QPR with our season going from strength to strength.

It really is that simple and im praying the latter happens.

Terry insisted on Wednesday he will not concede the title ‘until it is mathematical’ and Frank Lampard admitted he ‘had the hump’ because the manager had publicly ended their ambitions of winning the League.

what? what does having the hump mean? surely not what came to my mind first
