Hybrid Angel 2,130
I've had enough of him. He still backs off against strikers, very amateur. Doesn't he know that at some point you've got to make a tackle? I hope Guus knows all about this fraud before he starts backing off against fucking Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

We badly need a proactive defender.

The other one to cover we already have (Zouma).

Marina managed to fuck that so hard it almost offered her the role of chief executive of a major European club.

Ossie the King 634
4 years was probably 1-2 too long but it's his last big contract and he wouldn't have been advised to accept less. From our perspective, the plan was Zouma and Stones as first choice, so with JT retiring sooner rather than later an English-qualified, experienced player on moderate wages as backup isn't the worst thing in the world. Lampard, Drogba, etc?As for being a better CB, that might be true now but the declines will be telling.. Especially considering that Terry is much older.

On the other hand, is every player like going to quit a club because of concerns over starting position for their national side for a major tournament? I understand players are frustrated over lack of playing time but it seems so short sighted for them wanting to leave because of one tournament.
CurlyHairLikeLuiz 1,625
Unfortunately for him if any Chelsea fan had to choose between John Terry and him JT would win every time. He's alright but he's nothing special and could be easily replaced by moving Iva into a back up CB role for example.
Eidur the Spider 4,515
He's behind Kurt Zouma in the pecking order it seems but this is a very short sighted decision if legit. I can't imagine any of the top clubs in the league coming in for him, he'd probably have to settle for the likes of Loserpool or the spuds. Can't see us letting him go unless we have someone coming in, letting him and Ramires (two decent squad players) go with such little time left in the window won't happen I believe. Maybe at the end of the season he will be off and I wouldn't mind it as much.
LAM09 5,994
Sell him and get Stones. HG quota can't get any lower than it already is.
JaKstone 307
Keep at all costs even if it means to imprison him in the dungeons of Stamford Bridge. We need for the quota for now.
Chelseabluerising 60
Can't see him leaving in Jan, unless we got someone lined up, preferably English which I would say only leaves Stones so maybe summer but not now.

Cahill might have lost his place but it is vital we keep him on board.
CHOULO19 24,332
I don't mean to be cruel or disrespectful to Cahill in any way, but if this is actually true, I'd regard it as very good news. This is nothing against Gary himself who has been an excellent servant to the club and has helped us win a lot in the past four years, but we NEED to sign a top center half in the summer; someone who can partner Zouma and become a long term solution. Cahill leaving would ensure the club would go out and do just that instead of trying to rely on a JT on the decline or Cahill himself who just isn't good enough to be first choice. That said, his departure would leave us with a problem to solve regarding the homegrown quota and we might be forced to do something radical like, god forbid, actually give playing time to some of our youth products..
