Kieran. 6,317
Never rated Cahill, stepped it up last year but he's just too nervous as a defender. Hes good in last ditch efforts but that usually comes because he backs up 15 yards lol. LDN Blue and The Chels
Jase 43,479
Park the bus and counter attack. That's what I can remember.Think the more accurate description is defend and counter attack or just counter attack because the setup within that is self-explanatory. Really though, that approach is totally different from 'park the bus'. 'Parking the bus' is basically just putting 10 or even 11 men behind the ball with no intention of scoring or even going forward, which was what West Ham did to us at the Bridge last season. And we didn't do that at City, Arsenal or United, like some others have claimed. The Skipper, Tomo and Fernando
Popular Post! lionsden 4,689 Posted September 19, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted September 19, 2014 He's a very good/top class and massively underrated defender who like virtually every defender has weaknesses and had a very poor game against Schalke. That's the bottomline. people who call him average are just very silly. He's been excellent for the past 14 months atleast. RoyalBlues 4,050
For a moment I forgot Cahill is from Bolton. I think he will play tonight. Terry should be rested.
Blue Armour 4,439
Cahill has quite clearly been on the retard pills since the end of last season. Looked shaky as hell at the World Cup and simply hasn't gotten over it. Some players have to learn their position in the team isn't infallible and need to learn the hard way.I don't think you'll find any reasonable Chelsea fan calling him shit. But he certainly looks the weak link in the side right now, and his consistent backing-off of players is costing us as much as Ivanovic's half-arsed defending from full-back. I wonder if its ever possible to change that aspect of his game at this stage...should be wired into his instincts right now.I think he will forever play the role of the "covering" defender....making that last ditch tackle, or last ditch clearance TheOneChan95, BlueLion. and kellzfresh

robdog 2,084
curious, does anyone thing GC was retaliating at sanchez for his challenge on Courtois during the le arse match? I know I do the same when I play. Players protect each other & stuff like sanchez's challenge doesn't go unnoticed. Good Defenders protect their keepers & I could see what GC was trying to do. Personally as a Big Guy, I play like a protector & I can see GC doing this. Then again I would love to have GC's child. I have to get a daughter first though....Maybe I should goto England & start recruiting Beermaids. I am sure I can get some help for Queen & Country iseah100

Tomo 21,751
I would have Ivan, Matic, Diego and even Azpi and Tibo as captain before Cahill is even in my thought process.I like him but he simply isn't captain material.

CHOULO19 24,332
Garry has the passion but he is no leader. In fact, he needs a leader besides him. Iva is the obvious choice, although I would not at all mind seeing Azpi with the arm band. True he is probably no leader. On the one hand I fear what will happen to us when we get in trouble and have no real, natural leader on the pitch. on the other hand I have seen the German NT often enough to see that leadership might be a tad overrated in football. The last generation of GErman football had a bunch of true, natural leaders such as Torsten Frings, Arne FRiedrich, Bernd Schneider, Oliver Kahn and most importantly Michael Ballack. I have in person and his character literally enhances the impression his anyway imposing appearances gives you. He is very cheerful and friendly but at the same time demanding and will always get the best out of you. The current generations is full of cunts and pussies like Neuer, Lahm, Schwein, Özil, Boateng. Still they have finally won that elusive World Cup. Ok the opposition they faced was not on the same level as Spain of 2008-2012. Still they knew what they had to do. All players in the team were technically and tactically perfectly educated to play the football they needed. No one was required to make the one-man-army show players like Ballack, Drogba or Lampard did so often. Some people like Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Hummels took more responsibility than others. But there is no way those are the natural born leaders of old. When the team has developed enough of coherence, it suffices when everyone steps up to motivate each other in the most crucial of times which is exactly what leaders do.The doubt whether Cahill is enough of a leader to take that bit more of responsibility remains. Iva might be a more obvious choice. Amblève.
