If we are really going to spend big money on a ST, CM and DM

Says who? Mark my words, in this summer we are going to buy only two 'major' players (meaning players that could go straight into our starting XI). A winger who could cover at ST like Schurrle and a CM to play next to Mikel in the pivot.

What the fuck are you talking about? I was making a comparison in two possible situations, the one we would be buying expensive players and the one we wouldn't...

Besides, says who that we wont go big in the transfer window with Mourinho? You?

Wouldn't assume that we'll sign someone to play next to Mikel. Most players we've been linked too recently are DMs meaning he'd be the one replaced. And it depends, I could see us signing Rooney, De Rossi, Di Maria and Schurrle this summer. All fairly major signings which still wouldn't equate to 100m

You said that "we are really going to spend big money on a ST, CM and DM" which is just an unrealistic expectation. We can't make more than one or max two major signings in a window. Says the FFP.

The only player we have been reliably linked with is Schurrle and I'm pretty sure he's not a DM. You speak as if 100m is something you spend on groceries. 100m is more than our entire yearly income!

No I didn't, read it paying more attention...

Says the FFP.

Not true Choulo. We can still spend £100m on players regardless of FFP, I've vaguely explained this in the Roman Thread before. FFP is a very misunderstood concept and isn't as strict as you'd believe it is.

I'm not really a financial expert but I'll try and explain; many people really misunderstand the concept of FFP. One must remember that the likes of Malouda, Benayoun, Hilario, Paulo, and possibly Lampard as it stands are being moved on so there will be additional space in the wage budget. Wages aren't really that big of a concern - if they could potentially shift out Fernando for around £15m-£20m then even better as this would free up a lot in wages as well as practically paying off the rest of his amortisation fee - but I'm not banking on that.
We are officially allowed to go €45m in the minus with FFP because Roman can cover us, that's the maximum he's allowed to cover us for. That works out to around £38m. Let's for arguments sake say we sign Schurrle (£20m), Moutinho (£25m) and Lewandowski (£25m) on 5 year contracts - this rounds up to £70m in transfer fees. 70/5 = £14m in transfer fees for the year - whilst also having freed up initial space in our wage budget with the release of former players, we could realistically afford it. We'd still have a leeway of £24m.

Khedira, Matic, Paulinho, De Rossi, Fellaini, Kondogbia all recent rumours. Can't just assume that Mikel will be the player to retain his place. And i'm fully aware about what 100m is. Just quoting Benitez who has been working at the club.............

Read it, still sounds like you expect us to spend 70m on 3 players..

You read it and still didn't pay attention...

Angel Di Maria is the best possible option on paper, but depends how much we are expecting to spend on the other positions...

If we are really going to spend big money on a ST, CM and DM; paying 30mi for him becomes a bit expensive. However, if we arent going to spend 40mi on a ST and 30mi on a duo for the pivot, then it becomes sensible to spend big on him!

What we cant dispute is that he is good, very good!

IF we are going to spend big money on 3 players, paying 30mi on another one seems a bit too expensive. However, IF we aren't going to spend 40mi on a ST and 30mi on midfielders (meaning no expensive players in the transfer window), buying Di Maria for 30mi becomes a viable option!

IT IS NOT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!

Thank you!

What many seem to forget about FFP is that fee's are ammortised over the length of the contract and so signing Schurrle on a 5 year contract for 20m doesn't make that big a financial hit on us. Likewise Di Maria at say 25m

But you forgot that we are still paying the fees of players we've signed recently like Torres (10m/year) Hazard(6.4m/year), Oscar, Mata..etc Not to mention that those players coming in will have wages that are probably higher than the ones leaving or at least equal. I did my research on FFP back in Jan when I was arguing that we can't afford Falcao. I still think we can't.

Like I said, there have absolutely no reliable links with a DM. Just everyday media bullshit that dies down a couple of days later.

Yes and I'm just saying the first 'IF' you mentioned about us spending 40m on a striker and 30m on a pivot duo is unlikely!

I give up, does it help if I put it on Google so it can translate to Arabic?

I'm not - those fees are already being amortised and are already included in our balance sheets and we still made a profit this season.

Read this article about our situation with FFP and you'll soon realise that we can easily afford Falcao or another £100m.

We've had long standing interest in Fellaini and Paulinho and when rumours are so consistent there is bound to be at the very least a hint of truth involved. Anyway don't see how can you state so definitively that Mikel will start next season with no evidence to back it up. Straying off topic now

That really doesn't change much. I was already aware of most of the things stated in there. The only major thing I did not know was the player wages from before 2010 and that accounts for very little now as only JT and Cech have contracts from before that period. As for the youth development money, that is already negligible compared to the wages and fees we pay.

One major point you're still missing is, we made profit between June 2011 and June 2012, meaning before we spent a whole lot of money last summer on signings. Signings that we are still paying for. And considering our income this year has been less because last season we were boosted by the CL win, I don't think we can spend 100m without exceeding the -45m margin.

There were never any rumors from reliable sources for those links. Just the regular BS from the likes of Goal, dailymail, mirror..etc Those same sources told us for long periods that we signed Falcao..last Jan!

It's obviously my opinion that Mikel will be starting next season. There is no evidence that any player will be starting next season for us, but we're expressing opinions.

Anyway, we've completely derailed this thread, so I'm moving all this to the summer transfer window thread.

Well I was told on twitter by Paulo Freitas who works with Sky Sports that we've been following Paulinho for a long time and Fellaini said himself that Chelsea are interested. All of the links have pointed to a DM coming in, but anyway
