I am aware of that but wouldn't Inter then still need to spend their own money to buy a replacement?

70 mil before July and 20 mil spend after is counted differently in comparison to 50 mil and a player before July.

Barcelona did the exact same thing with Juventus with that player exchange, they are dodging the system.

This is why I don't understand people praising Marina for trying player exchanges in hope of lowering the price, it was never going to happen with their situation.

Yeah but where would they get the money from to spend then?

Didn't they already get that money and use it to cover for what happened with Suning months ago?

They will use it to pay player's wages and transfer. Inter owner can't use their money outside China, something to do with Xi's latest policy.

I don't think the issue they're having is cash flow related (they just received this huge loan), but rather has to do with FFP compliance.

They can register the profit on Hakimi's sales in this year's 2020 financials if they sell before July 1st. They bought him last year for around €40M on a five years contract, so his current book value is €32M. If they sell him for €80M they can register a €48M profit this year and balance their books. I have not followed Inter's financial situation but assuming they registered losses the previous 2 seasons, this could allow them to book a profit this year overall and just be FFP compliant.

Whomever they buy in July to replace Hakimi can be amortized on their books for the next 4/5 seasons. Assuming they buy someone for around €20M, that player  would only have a €4/5M (+wages, let's say total of €8M) impact on their 2021 books and the seasons after that.

So that's a €8M versus €48M, a huge €40M swing.

Hope that helps clarify a little bit.

50m is an investment for them. Obviously Ben White is a very decent player, has very good potential but surely thats a huge chunk of Arsenals budget gone in one transfer 😂

Is he not a left footed CB also? They already have Gabriel… unless Arteta is going to use a back 3 or use him as a CDM/CM? Obviously need depth but surely two good young CBs who both play predominantly as left sided CBs and will want to play every week is a bit questionable no?

Arsenal have made some very questionable transfer decisions under Arteta. Given their current state now, think it's fair to say that they can't afford White to be a bust, especially for that kind of money.

White is right-footed. Its amazing Arsenal have around 10 centrebacks and they're spending 50mil on this position
