Vesper 31,181
LIVE Transfer Talk: Juve ready to move for De Gea as Man United eye Oblak https://www.espn.co.uk/football/blog-transfer-talk/story/3937102/live-transfer-talk-juve-ready-to-move-for-de-gea-as-man-united-eye-oblak TOP STORY: De Gea to Juventus; Oblak to Man United? With his contract extension talks seemingly at a standstill, David De Gea may be lured away from Manchester United by Serie A champions Juventus. According to the Daily Express, Juventus are monitoring De Gea's status at Old Trafford, and could convince the Spain No. 1 leave on a free at the end of the season if United can't get him to commit by January. As everyone fondly recalls, De Gea would have left Manchester for Real Madrid in 2015 -- if not for a malfunctioning fax machine that torpedoed the deal in the waning moments. Should De Gea depart for Turin, then Manchester United have already identified his successor -- Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak. A source had told ESPN FC back in June that Oblak would prefer an exit to United if he were to leave Madrid, so time will tell that interest rekindles in the coming months. snip I would take Oblak over any other keeper in the world, so this SUCKS if Manure grabs him no clue why Juve doesnt just go for him, I suppose it is De Gea's contract winding down Atomiswave
Vesper 31,181
Some Barça stars offered up their own money to sign Neymar this summer https://www.sport-english.com/en/news/barca/some-barca-stars-offered-up-their-own-money-to-sign-neymar-this-summer-7623855 One of the most senior ranking members of the FC Barcelona squad let Josep Maria Bartomeu know that signing Neymar was a must if they were to win the Champions League. It was a belief shared by many others in the dressing room who all had their say as negotiations were ongoing with PSG. Some of the players were even willing to part with their own money to help pay for the costly transfer, such was the desire to bring Neymar 'home'. The board didn't take that offer under consideration, and some of the squad weren't even aware of it, but it was done to demonstrate how well liked Neymar is by certain players in the changing room. It's extremely possible with the €20m Neymar was willing to put in, alongside that of the players, a deal could have been struck with PSG. However, the board only valued a transfer if it made sense on the financial side of things. Some board members called it "absolutely crazy" if they accepted all the demands. So this gesture from certain squad members was dismissed. However, not everyone was on board with the Brazilian's return. There's a danger of a rift developing between those on the side of Neymar and those who are firmly behind Griezmann. Right now, there aren't any issues between the two parties but Lionel Messi, alongside his fellow captains, must ensure this doesn't develop into anything serious. In recent years the changing room has been a welcoming place, helped by a coach who is respected by everyone at the club and no one wants that to change. Vicente del Bosque gave his opinion on Neymar and how, if he was in charge of a major club, he wouldn't have signed Neymar either. "Without any doubt he's a great footballer and his arrival would've been really good for LaLiga, but he did some bad - really bad - things at Barça." There isn't much more to say... snip

I wonder if Jovic will be part of that PSG deal? they are mad as ass if they dump him out, UNLESS (and let this happen!) they also go for KANE(Benzema turns 33 next season) those 2 alone will cost close to £400m so they will so have to liquidate a lot they are fucked with CB depth, Ramos is a shell of his peak self after that they only have Raphaël Varane and Éder Militão, Nacho is shit and and will turn 31 in the middle of next season, they do get Jesús Vallejo back from his Wolves loan, who is not RM starting quality anyway but can provide depth, so they surely have to go BIG for WC CB as well, which pushes expenditure up to near half a billion they do have a LOT to unload they have an insane overload at LW (FIVE) they may sell 3 Eden Hazard Vinícius Júnior Marco Asensio Rodrygo Brahim Díaz they also have (for possible sale) AMF James Rodríguez Isco CMF Ceballos (Arse will probably want him, he looks class) RW (but need to replace these as they are the only 2 RW they have) Gareth Bale Lucas Vázquez they also have THREE staring level RB's (so will sell one) Daniel Carvajal Álvaro Odriozola Ashraf Hakimi (back from his two year loan at Borussia Dortmund) also LB Marcelo will surely be sold (as they have Sergio Reguilón coming back from his Sevilla loan to backup Ferland Mendy) Modric leaves on a free so they also have to replace him and I think they also sell Cuntois and Navas and buy Alphonse Areola perm (and make a play for De gea, battle with Juve, as either can get him for free) lets do a tally Sell Cuntois, Navas, Nacho, Marcelo, Hakimi, James, Asensio, Diaz, Bale, Lucas Vázquez, Jovic ,and Ceballos yields around £550m in revenue Buy Mbappe, Kane, Koulibaly, Pogba, WC RW (to back up Mbappe or start when Mbappe is played as a CF, I think they go for Mikel Oyarzabal), Alphonse Areola (and lets just assume they get De Gea on a free) at MAX that is £725-750m (maybe a wee bit less) so a £175-200m max net spend which they easily can pull off no Kane (and keep Jovic) and you are down to only £100m or so net spend MAX lets say they do get Kane yields a team (I will fill in the names for the CB, MF and RW) of GK De Gea GK Areola GK Andriy Lunin CB Raphaël Varane CB Kalidou Koulibaly (I can see them paying the price the poson dwarf will want CB Éder Militão CB Ramos (cunt) CB Jesús Vallejo LB Ferland Mendy LB Sergio Reguilón RB Daniel Carvajal RB Álvaro Odriozola DMF Casemiro CMF Toni Kroos CMF Pogba CMF Federico Valverde AMF Isco AMF Martin Ödegaard LW Eden Hazard LW Vinícius Júnior LW Rodrygo RW Mbappe (and can play CF and LW too) RW Mikel Oyarzabal (can play both wings) CF Kane CF Mariano Díaz scary arse team IF they can pull that shit off, vastly better than they are now Atomiswave

Vesper 31,181
CIES Football Observatory Monthly Report n°47 - September 2019 Financial analysis of the transfer market in the big-5 European leagues (2010-2019) https://football-observatory.com/IMG/sites/mr/mr47/en/ 1. Introduction Since its creation in 2005, the CIES Football Observatory has been monitoring the transfer of players through information published by clubs and the media. The 47th edition of the Monthly Report analyses from a financial perspective paid transactions having taken place since 2010 which involved teams from the five major European championships: the English Premier League, the Spanish Liga, the German Bundesliga, the Italian Serie A and the French Ligue 1.. In four chapters, the study analyses the sums paid in transfer indemnities by big-5 league teams, the clubs and championships who benefited from these investments, the net balance sheets for both teams and leagues, as well as inflation observed year by year since 2010. The latter is calculated on the basis of the exclusive CIES Football Observatory transfer value algorithm. The figures published in this report include fixed indemnities for permanent transfers, eventual add-ons, as well as sums invested for paying loans. The amounts paid in the case of loans with an obligation to buy are computed for the year of the transfer. Within the limits of the information available, the data on the beneficiaries take into account the resale percentages negotiated by former clubs. 2. Investments A new record for spending was recorded in 2019: €6.6 billion. This sum is almost a 10% increase over the previous record of 2017. In ten years, the investments in transfer indemnities carried out by big-5 league clubs have grown by more than four times. In only two cases, in 2012 and 2018, were the amounts paid out less than those for the preceding year. Figure 1: big-5 league club transfer fee investments € million In 2019, a new spending record was established in three of the leagues studied: the Liga, the Serie A and the Bundesliga. As for the previous nine years, English clubs invested the most for the recruitment of new players: €1.9 billion. Over the last decade, transfer indemnity investments of Premier League teams accounted for 35.8% of the total measured for the big-5. This proportion has decreased since two years in line with the decision to close the summer transfer window before the opening of the season. Figure 2: transfer fee investments by league € million The rankings of clubs having invested the most in transfer fees since 2010 demonstrate the incredible financial clout of a handful of dominant teams. While no club has spent as much as Manchester City, eight other teams have invested more than a billion euro over ten years. All of the Champions League finalists since 2005 are part of the twenty teams having spent the most over the past decade. Figure 3: transfer fee investments by club (2010-2019) € million In 2019, three Spanish teams were at the top of the rankings for clubs having spent the most on transfer indemnities. This finding reflects a cyclical need for squad renewal, but also the availability of considerable financial possibilities linked to the establishment of the Spanish top division as the second most powerful league on the planet after the English Premier League. Fekir underwent a customary medical at Liverpool in the summer of 2018, but the European champions pulled the plug on the deal after problems with his knee surfaced. The French winger, who made a shock move to Real Betis in July, rubbished those claims, saying ‘lots of lies were told’, but his agent at the time Jean-Pierre Bernes stated there were no lies on Liverpool’s part. Nabil Fekir claimed there were ‘lots of lies’ told by Liverpool in their reasoning not to sign him. Fekir stayed at Lyon for one more season before joining Real Betis in June for £22million Speaking to French outlet L’Equipe, Bernes said: ‘He has to stop this show and stop taking people for fools. Everyone knows what happened. ‘The transfer to Liverpool has turned around for two reasons. The first is his knee, even though the English club’s leaders were willing to make an effort on this. ‘The second is the appearance of a foreign pseudo-representative who asked for the negotiations to be resumed from the beginning at the moment of signing. ‘Between this episode and the medical visit, Liverpool’s leaders decided to abandon the case.’ snip
Fernando 6,743
I still want Mbappe but I doubt he will like to come here, hence why I think we should spend big on Sancho. Time to continue to build our team with young English players. And then on CB. So spend big on Sancho and CB. I will be happy with those two transfer in the summer. Raiola works with a huge percentage of the top players in Europe. Even if you dont agree with his methods, hes worked with huge players for years and will undoubtedly continue to do so to he packs it in. Unless Neville wants United to continue spending 80m on 40m players for instance cause they are English, then I dont see what the huge fuss is. Thing is it wasnt an issue when it was other clubs negotiating with Raiola either. Yes he gets a fee out of the deals, most agents do, but players have also been known to get a percentage of their transfer fee as well due to contractual clauses. Even then look at the players he has represented over the past. How many have gotten bad moves in terms of going to smaller clubs or whatever? Or been shafted for wages? Hes obviously very good at what he does despite everything else. Its just the way modern day football is and for me, the vast sums of money for TV deals is to blame for how its gone the last 10 years more than just agents. Especially in England. Even with FFP the tv deals are given clubs a huge chance of not coming into issue with FFP. Throw in sponsorship deals because companies all want to sponsor clubs in a league where the tv rights cost what must be close to 5bn per season? Then again another byproduct of that is clubs wantinf to sell to PL teams and a huge amount of players wanting to play there and get triple the salary theyd get elsewhere etc as well.
