You get that Suarez example every time but it is by no means a legit comparison. best striker in the world at peak of his powers vs average midfielder with no technique and waning physical powers. It was a complete brainfart to extend Ramires contract, one of many by our board just as extending Mourinho's contract I warned people in advance in both cases but no one listened. You can always get a better midfielder than Ramires even without European football.

Apart from winning the CL,this transfer window is the last chance to prevent us from getting set back for years. Our bonus is our loanees who might provide us with a new impetus

Defensively he's amazing, great timings, very intellegent and sober player, very rarely commits a mistake. Good but not dominant in the air.

Needs to develop his offensive game in order to be ready to take the leap. When he gets pressed, even if slightly, he tends to just kick the ball forwards instead of trying to build a play. That's not necessarily bad, but for a top team, a ball playing CB is necessary nowadays. He's been steadily improving this aspect of his game.

Physically he's alright, may look frail-ish but can definitely take a hit and he's fast enough for a CB.

Overall he may need one or two more years developing his game to be considered ready for a bigger league, imo. But if it was up to me he'd stay a long ass time at Sporting.

My ideas?

Out:

Djilobodji -> Unless the new manager can fit him in, we should probably let him play elsewhere.

Fabregas -> So shit... Maybe he can fit in 4-3-3 but I'd rather spend money on a new midfielder.

John Obi Mikel -> Hardly plays as it is, so if we can get good money for him, do it.

Oscar -> Only if we get £20 million for him, so we can fund Texeira.

Falcao -> This loan was so stupid, we need a real 3rd choice striker.

Bamford -> To replace Falcao, as he's not playing at Palace but we might as well give him a chance here. Worst case scenario he goes off to another PL team next year.

Bertrand -> Splash out the cash for him, probably £10-15 mil but he's a proven LB in this league.

Texeira -> A new attacking midfielder (I think, I've not seen him play but he's highly rated and wants to come here) would be good, he'll work hard like Willian.

Then in the summer, sell Costa and Ivanovic and buy a new 1st choice striker and Cabaye from Palace. We can also keep Kalas and Pasalic after their loans this year.

Isn't Ivanovic out of contract in the summer? Costa and Fabregas look like a safe bet to leaving in the summer. Always knew Costa is not the striker we need but oh well..
