CRonaldo 55
In the last 14 months,we have spent around 286.3m Euros on players(figures from Goal.com) Just shows how lucky we are to have Roman and still be able to think of 25m+ valued players.ClearlyAt Marseille, we wanted a 4M€ guy, but we can't buy him unless we sell someone. Muzchap 8,966
Dimitar Berbatov Because i am tired of speculation,i am talling you this. I read the papers and i see they say 10 million pounds is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex, and he says to me 5 million..So who is talling the truth, what do you think??..And the truth is, I love this club, but i am not going to be useful to anyone, if i am not playing. And i want to play, i want to help. But for unknown reasons its not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it's better for everyone if we say goodbay. If not, i am professional and i will keep doing everything i can, to help my team and my teammates, whenever i have opportunity to do so.If we could get him cheap would be worth it.He's a good player and can definitely score goals - could be useful against Man U and the Spuds - always scores against former teams...I'd rather spend 8mill on him than 'another' prospect, we have enough prospects and need to have some 'starters'... ROMAN, SIGN HIM UP!

Hutcho 8,443
That is a painfully broad generalisation.Agreed, everything is far too often made to seem like there are no human factors. For example people always say, buy him, send him on loan somewhere without taking into account the player might not want to go there and there are lots of occassions were people don't leave because they like it where they are etc.

I think he would have gone with Marseille.

That's what I'm getting at, it's not just the city/money.People play for Napoli, even though Cavani had his house robbed, and the city is run by the Camorra. TorontoChelsea 4,064
Yeah but he loves the club. That's what I'm getting at, it's not just the city/money.People play for Napoli, even though Cavani had his house robbed, and the city is run by the Camorra. It's a combination of things and different players put different emphasis on different priorities (just like other people.) Players' priorities also change. As they get married and have families, they often want to move closer to their homes and be in a place where there are good schools and stability for their families. That isn't a factor at all for a single 21-year old.For most players money and the opportunity to play at the highest level are the two biggest factors I also think too many people expect players to have club loyalty.I don't really think it's any more likely than us having loyalty to our workplaces. If a new job comes along and offers us double the pay and a better opportunity, how many of us would turn it down?

Peace. 4,352
I've just heard some nasty stories about Marseille from people that were from there.Come on. Sure the violence has increased last year, and at French scale it is a "dangerous" city. But it isn't Mogadishu, far from it.
