I hope Conte kills it at Inter and revives them.  Serie A has been lame as hell for years now with Juve owning the league. Be nice to see a genuine title race. If only Milan could also get their act together.

Anyway, I see Arsemay lose out on that French league defender they've been after for months to fucking Spuds of all teams. They may legitimately have a worse transfer window than us and we can't even sign anyone. They better hurry up and improve the squad or their fans will be toxic within the first month of the new season.

He wanted Alex Sandro and Candreva (not an amazing player but would of done well at RWB and his final ball was 10 times better) to improve on Moses and Alonso.

He wanted Lukaku to replace Costa (still dont get why he wanted to bin him completely, he struck me as the typical mould of player Conte would want, top player, hard working, win at all costs, did it in big games - similar traits to what Vidal, Marchisio, Bonucci, Chielleni had).

Think he also wanted Nainggolan (got Kante instead) and Pogba too, glad we didnt get Pogba tbf though.

Think Inter will be a lot better under him, plus they already have half decent/good/very good players there like Samir Handanovic, De Vrij, Milan Skriniar, Diego Godin, Miranda, Roberto Gagliardini, Mauro Icardi, Lautaro Martinez, Ivan Perisic... a lot of experience and potential as well as a lot of definite fits for Contes 343 or 352 whatever he goes for.

Fair enough if Conte thinks he's the right man to improve Lukaku but based on what we've seen, that's a really questionable signing for a club aiming to compete at the highest level again.

Tbf if they look to play counter attacking football and throw crosses into the box from wider areas he will easily score 20 goals a season. Dont think Conte ever wanted him for how he linked up or that when he was here but more because of his record as a goalscorer and his physicality. Think Lukaku will do very well in Serie A if he does go. Id imagine that is only if Icardi is going to go though. Why else would they sign Lukaku when they already have Martinez and Icardi, unless he wants to play 352 with those 2 up top...

Singing Lukaku and Nainggolan would of been disasters. Hindsight of course. The former can't even control a ball and the latter looks to be on his last legs. Was terrible for Inter.

To be fair, I think most regulars here saw through Lukaku. Nainggolan probably did split opinion a bit more.

Even then, it's not going to be all about the crosses and if the opponents are well prepared, they are going to limit those opportunities and force the play down the middle etc. Lukaku might look physical but it's deceiving. Has never really dominated players/defences with his power, strength, aggression like Drogba, Costa etc.

we would have had Nainggolan at 2016/17 levels (when he was 28) if we had done the deal with Roma in Conte's first year, and Mourinho wanted him too so even younger

he was a beast

and was injured a lot last year (hard to say if he would have been injured here, thats a time machine question)

in the past 3 years

he had  27 goals and 21 assists in 2 and half seasons worth of minutes (and Inter's style was not as explosive as those Roma teams, with whom he helped knock out a superb Barca team in the CL)

He would have been a terror under Conte

so would have Alex Sandro

2 of our biggest fuckups in the past 6 or so years in terms of blown buys, and would add in, from that time, Koulibaly , Alessio Romagnoli, and Bernardeschi too, just from Italy

he missed (Biceps femoris muscle injury)  the first leg totally against Barca (Roma lost 4-1) and then came back and started and bossed the MF  basically one armed, as they won 3 nil to knock them out

also agree that Candreva would have been an upgrade on Moses, shame he wasn't 5 years younger (so the board would have bought him) then, he also was a beast back when he was younger

Back when the rumors of Juventus’ interest in him began the first couple of months of the 2019 calendar year, Cristian Romero made it be known that moving to one of the biggest clubs in the world was the end game. There were the two Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid, mentioned, which isn’t all that surprising from a South American. Manchester United, while not exactly in the current state of domination as yesteryear, also got a shout.

But the fourth team that Romero mentioned is the one that he has just signed with.

Juventus announced Romero’s long-anticipated move to Turin on Friday, with the 21-year-old center back putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. The transfer fee, one that wasn’t exactly a locked down figure in the weeks leading up to the deal, is €26 million that Juventus will pay Genoa over the span of the next three years. The kicker in this deal, one that was basically bound to happen and expected for months, is that Romero, who has one season under his belt in Serie A at Genoa, will head back to the club that just sold him to Juventus to spend the 2019-20 campaign on loan at the Marassi.
