Neymar’s agent has revealed the Barcelona star snubbed offers from Manchester Unitedand Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The Brazilian was linked with a move away from the Nou Camp before ending speculation over his future by signing a new long-term contract with the Spanish champions.

But Wagner Ribeiro, Neymar's representative, claims the 24-year-old could have earned far more money by leaving Barca.

According to Ribeiro, PSG's offer was worth an incredible £650,000-a-week, while United were also willing to pay a mega salary to lure the forward to Old Trafford.

"He was close to joining PSG," Ribeiro told Bate-Bola Debat. "He would have earned €40million-a-year net.

"Neymar was also close to a spell at Manchester United, but he extended his contract to earn less at Barcelona because he wanted to stay at Barcelona."

As a striker in 3-5-2, 4-2-4, 4-4-2....the position where he belongs, alongside a more physical striker like Batshuayi or Costa. 3 top players for 2 positions, assuming that Conte would want to play with 2 strikers, would be ideal. Obviously if plan is 4-3-3 or 3-4-3, he isn't needed.

At Chelsea like they can pull the trigger and sell most of them at one go. But it's reasonable to keep them signed and offload at the peak of value and/or when you really need to. They get it better and spread those sells over multiple windows because if you do this at once you can see benefits at one year's accounting books only.

I understand loaning out players at young age to get experience  but the likes off remy and whos past there 25's we should be selling mate

Ohh yeah agree in parts deffo with ffp , but think alot have peaked or their value has went down eg.Bamford was a £10 mill value after the championship,Remy peaked should have been sold,Piazon etc etc ,imho we should have sold these and afew more,when you think we probly spent @120 mill this summer on 4 players would have helped .

I call bullshit

Fabregas is the only player we have with vision - selling him would be a huge mistake in Jan... Unless they can bring in a quality number 10 in the same window and a midfielder to sit alongside Kante (unless Matic, the real Matic, finally decides to turn up)

I really don't think we need to fret about this.

Unlike us, the club knows the facts of the financial arrangements involved with these deals including what offers for permanent or temporary moves have been made. They also know the wishes of the player, the manager and other squad builders in regard to the individual's future. We know none of these things.

I realise it pleases some people to imagine the club is run by a collection of men and women who couldn't pass a Key Stage 1 SAT, who don't know their left from their right, and who can't spell their own names. The reality of course is very different. If any of these people got talking about the business of football with you, me, or, I suspect, virtually anyone else here, they'd soon make our lack of knowledge look pretty foolish.

I believe the key thing you and I have to focus on is that these are not exclusively footballing decisions. I very much doubt, for example, that anyone at Chelsea believes Lucas Piazon has strong chances of a future with the club but there are enormous financial implications in play.  My argument is that you, I, and everyone else here should let the people who know what  those implications are, and how to deal with them, get on with their work.

I follow Villa (nearest club to my university) and the dude always looked talented. Him and Amavi were a cut above the rest, shame Amavi got injured. Both massive talents.
