Atlas Lion 1,223
What's scary is that it is so obvious that they are not good enough, yet the club aren't addressing it. Barbara, Unionjack and Reddish-Blue
RhesusReus 219
But neither does Oscar in offence. They both have great engines and touches of excellence plus are both handy at high up defending but as far as offering assists n goals they neither. really offer enough,After watching the preseason games upto now the strikers arent being given the ball enough and thats a big problem. And with our central midfield not being creative enough with Cescy not having much room to move he cant get balls forward so he needs help there and we know Rakel (Mikel/Rami) doesnt help much at all. (but I wont go into that as it hurts my brain)you must be joking! did you completely forget how inept we become in keeping possession if Oscar is not on the pitch? I suggest you watch the PSG home leg to see the stark difference in this department once Oscar is subbed early because of a yellow card.As for offence. Oscar provides plenty. He had 6 goals and 8 assists in the league last season. 8 assists in 2000 mins (the same number as Sanchez). Hazard had 9 assists in about 3500 mins. How is he not creative enough? And his decision making in critical moments is pretty great. That backheel to set up Hazard's goal vs United. That backheel behind the back flick to Costa for the goal against Newcastle. Fantastic. RoyalBlues 4,050
I missed a not, in my sentence, I meant the problem isn't the quantity, but the quality (problem isn't not having enough people, but not having people good enough).I think our defense without Matic would look very shaky, tactically he's much more important to our balance than Fabregas is, imo. Hazard and our strikers can be an outlet for goals and creativity if we don't have Cesc and Oscar once in a while too. But if we don't have Matic, we have a bigger problem. Ramires and Mikel aren't as solid defensively as they used to be and I don't know if it's because they haven't been playing enough or if they're getting old or starting the descending curve of their career.RLC hasn't convinced me at all he can make a job, he seemed lazy and lost defending.I agree that if Mou thinks we have enough to compete in UCL, then he's delusional, lol. We can't compete against the very top teams in Europe, which doesn't mean we couldn't get a lucky result against any of them. It's nothing we haven't done in the past, but we aren't on the same level as the best of the best.Yup, in term of quality, I agree we should 'upgrade' it ideally. But sadly we're having quite enough players for 2 CM positions. With all 5 looks like will stay, I would find it's hard to see Jose to buy another CM at the moment. Unless someone miraculously leaving. Jose said countless times RLC will be in the squad, loaning him at deadline day would give Jose a bad name in all youths, also it seems no one will ready to break the bank for Mikel nor Ramires. So, unfortunately I thought we will not sign any midfield this summer. Maybe in January, Jose will realized about it. Hopefully.
quickpassnmove 924
getting that other CB is a good idea right now. I still think that Zouma might hurt himself and that leaves us thin on the back line already.if Kenedy and Rahman will be in the first team, plus that CB, the only weakness in the squad will be in centre midfield. Magic Lamps 11,692
What saddens me most is that in this crappy summer we are undoing all the great work of our past few season of early, clever punctual signings that won us a hard earned league title. Failing to replace JT, Iva, Mikel, Ramires with quality players will set us back at least two years in our development as a club. As all of you I would at least be curious to know the reason. Anyways, even if we manage to get those two defenders in we will only roughly have recovered the level of last season. Iva, JT are slowly declining there is no denying that. Courtois, Oscar, Hazard and maybe even Willian might improve a bit but that is no way proportionate to the huge leaps of improvement all our rivals have made. Also with signing a cb we deviate from that stupid one in one out policy anyways so fuck it. Unionjack

illmatic 901
The young defender for whom I spoke some weeks ago as a great prospect to have on the target, Jesus Vallejo, has signed for Real Madrid, 6 M€. In a couple years will be one the best, great business for them.
LukakutoStamford 779
If I remember correctly, there was a press conference where Pellegrini said Denayer (young CB) and Iheanacho (young ST) would be promoted to the first team as squad depth. I haven't seen too much of Iheanacho...but Denayer looks promisingPromising is an understatement for Denayer he's a potential world class defender and I'd take him over any U23 defender including Varane and Stones at this point. He'll be starting for City later this year at age 20 Unionjack

Unionjack 7,531
Roman Abramovich attended the wedding of Jorge Mendes over the weekend along with some of the most powerful men in football including the presidents or owners of all of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and PSG. Transfer chitter-chatter over the very finest canapés, a great secret mission for Abramovich.Just like his mission to get Witsel eh.

cadenza666 221
Jose Mourinho and Chelsea could regret lack of transfer activityhttp://www.espnfc.com/club/chelsea/363/blog/post/2546492/jose-mourinho-chelsea-transferswhilst we are looking at strengthening defensively.need to address the glaring issue in central midfield before the season starts, the quality after Fabregas/Matic is miles apart. otherwise not looking forward to deja vu in Europe / sitting back against 10 men at home.
