LFC's support for Suárez

Now we all know Suárez has been found guilty of racially insulting Evra a month or so back. However what I have created this thread for relates to this:

http://bcove.me/g0eyq3fw

Last night, Liverpool players & Dalglish wore t-shirt bore with Suárez's name and number on the back, in a show of support. What is Suárez guilty of? He used a term which is actually accepted in Uruguay, but still considered offensive because it targets a player's colour.

Today Liverpool are being condemned by anti-racism campaigners & former Newcastle defender Olivier Bernard has told SkySports he thinks Liverpool are wrong to show support in this way (http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7391485/Bernard-condemns-Suarez-stance)

I, very much, agree with him. He has proven to use the term, and he has been punished for it. The case is now over, of course with an appeal, and I think Liverpool are trying to say "we think this isn't wrong" to use that term.. When it fully well is.

My question to everyone is this.. Do you think Liverpool are taking the wrong stance and, if you do, if Chelsea's players did it would you consider their stance wrong too?

The fact they were all wearing Suarez shirts was cringe-worthy. Basically advertising their support for a racist. I hope we don't do the same for Terry.

The worst part was that Suarez actually had the audacity to wear one of those shirts himself.

Blind loyalty at Liverpool and Chelsea will not help beat racism

Football has fought a long campaign to fight prejudice in the game, but the reaction of two clubs to recent allegations has been shortsighted and damaging

Regardless of the guilt or otherwise of those involved, the initial expressions of support from both clubs had in common the unquestioning acceptance of their players' versions of events, an acceptance that has only hardened with time. Both ruled out the very possibility of guilt, and as far as fans were concerned fully backed the notion that any process capable of convicting the players could only be flawed. In Chelsea's case, the one redeeming feature has been that the defence of Terry has not rested on a besmirching of Ferdinand, thus at least in theory respecting the Queens Park Rangers player's right to complain. It is the same right that, in Evra's case, has been comprehensively ignored by Liverpool.

I can't believe Liverpool fc brought out a statement with "Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black''. I could imagine Suarez with his guffy teeth saying, my grandfather was black so i can't be a racist. My question is, why bring colour into an argument Luis !

WTF?! Whats the point in that?..

Because he's the most self-righteous, up-his-own-arse ex-player I've ever heard from. He'll do anything to attack people and show how mighty and above humanity he is. I'm sure his ex-wife agrees...

To be honest I don't believe that Suarez did racially abuse Evra. The reason for this is that in 2008, when Evra got into a fight with Chelsea groundsmen he accused them of being racist. Obviously, we never found out whether a particular groundsman did use racist abuse against Suarez and I am not denying that he did but it does seem strange that Patrice Evra has been racially abused twice in his time playing in England and the vast, vast majority of black players have not been abused at all.

Evra is an absolute cunt and trouble maker . I find it easier to believe Suarez even if he is a diver
