Patience Pays Off: The 51-Second Build Up against Man City

I think one of the most interesting aspect about the win against City was that we were very patient in our build up when we had the man advantage and it paid off nicely. Case in point, the build up that lead to the penalty, when Sturridge's shot hit Lescott's hand. It was an attacking phase made up of 15 passes and it took almost a whole minute of continuous possession. Here's the second by second break down.

Cheers!

"we could have conceded to a City counter attack"

What i was afraid of the most. I remember when they played at Anfield, they were getting pounded and all of a sudden Dzeko got the ball and he was gone.

Silva couldn't finish off the chance - mainly because Liverpool had like 3 players on the line - but that is the type of threat they possess.

It was a difficult position we were in.

Attack them and risk the counter attacks or defend with our shaky defense with Bosingwa against the team with the most lethal attack in the whole of England. Great tactical preparation form AVB and great execution from players. A deserved win.

Great article (again :P). I really enjoy them.
