Yeah I get it, some Britons will have a problem, completely ignoring the previous races and 'actions'.

Why was Hamilton not punished early on in the race for the same thing Max was just last week? Twice actually. Also Max was out of the 2 races because of Hamilton once and Bottas once.

If they go by the the rules they used all season there would be red flag and they would start again with 4 laps to go. Masi compromised and gave RB just one lap but even that was enough for Max 👏

Hamilton leads all race, and the FIA breaks its own rules (39.1 in the rule book) right at the end...joke management just to create 'drama'

I’m a brand new F1 viewer this season and this ending definitely felt sickening. And I’m not even a Mercedes supporter (I’m team Ferrari).

Feels pretty disgusting when Lewis was on his way to coasting to a pretty comfortable victory and then because some mid grid driver crashes his rival just gets handed the championship at the last moment. He was much quicker for 50+ laps and then…stolen.

The rules were definitely changed today. If the race director allows the lapped cars to unlap themselves under a yellow flag, All the unlapped cars are given the opportunity to unlap themselves but not today. Fair play to the other drivers, quite a lot are speaking up about this.

F1 died in the mid 2000's probably before!

Its about the car not the driver and health and safety is a joke and takes away virtually any risk

I miss the pile ups and real racing.

Senna wouldnt be an f1 driver in this day and age ffs

Feel a bit for Verstappen, he will always see his hollow 'victory' as a fraud. FIA defrauded Hamilton and Verstappen and motor racing just for Commercial Enterprise and profit.

Clever marketing today - make 'controversy' the selling point, creeping into football as well, similar to people just accepting that politicians always lie.

Yeah I am sure he will suffer mentally after this season, seeing this as a hollow title or a fraud😄
Please keep it coming. Not even incredibly biased Sky Sports has been this salty.

Verstappen sat with his head bowed straight afterwards though 🤣 he knew it was stitched up

It was like football with my mates. You play for hours and suddenly someone says "Next goal wins"

Isn't that like football as well? Like one team could be dominating the ball and look the most likeliest to win the game but they suddenly get sucker-punched with a late goal and lose the game.

Yes, Red Bull got very lucky with that random crash by Latifi and yes, that late call was controversial but at the same time, let's not act as if Hamilton and Mercedes haven't gotten favorable decisions from the stewards this season. If they had applied the rules correctly, Verstappen might well have won the title before we even got to the final stages of the season.

I don't know what the exact rules are but if the stewards didn't want to end the race/championship behind a safety car (am sure no one else wants that either, except maybe for Mercedes), then not sure why they didn't just call the red flag so that we would have had at least 5-6 laps for them to race instead of the one lap shootout (as exciting as it was).

Also, the only thing that was helping Hamilton in the final few laps was those cars between him and Verstappen. Without those cars, Hamilton was a complete sitting duck because he was on a much older tyres compared to Verstappen. And kudos to Red Bull for taking calculated risks with the pit stops. Paid off handsomely while Mercedes were being too conservative.

Thats true -the whole 'sport' now seems to be about creating drama than racing, which ironically will turn quite a few away.

Hamilton had to go through those cars in real time, Verstappen didn’t. He even admitted that, had the race played out without Latifi’s misjudgment, there is no way he would have caught Hamilton. It became the finale F1 wanted, except Hamilton’s tyres were older and slower and he was at a huge disadvantage.

It was a stolen title — by the stewards, by the race director, by the need for drama. And that’s not Red Bull’s fault. They, Verstappen, did nothing wrong. He just wasn’t the best driver on the day.

Alonso was one of those cars between them under the Safety Car and his radio was priceless, saying Verstappen should be right behind Hamilton and not behind 5 other cars.

It is also quite pathetic to complain about some slow driver crashing and forcing a Safety Car. That's motor sport. As you mentioned, the Championship started in March and was fought throughout the season, 22 races. Verstappen is a deserving winner.
