If you are scared of flying or have a flight yourself imminent i reccomend you dont read on.

Every week on my freeview+ box i get one episode of air crash investigation, and there has been some pretty daunting one's come on.

Last week their was one about a African plane that got hyjacked and the hyjackers demanded that they fly to Australia the pilot said they don't have enough fuel but they didn't listen and told him to keep going and they ended up crashing near a island east of africa on the sea, in the panic passengers didn't hear there pilot tell them not to inflate the life jackets and did so anyway and in turn the one's who did inflate them died under the rubble. The pilot was the hero here as it was his know how and expierence that took them close to land and make the best possible landing under the circumstances.

The week before was a plane crash in 2001 that was solely the pilot's fault some guy called Ludz. Because of some new law they had to change landing runway in Zurich but Ludz completely misguided his landing, they were 14,000 feat up or something like that which is the closest to the ground you can be to abort landing. Despite not having clear visual of the runway and the snowing wheather Ludz decided to carry on with the landing, also earlier he took the plane in a steep decline which also helped contribute to him completely misguiding his landing and crashing into a near by woodlands, most of the passengers onboard, including two members of upcoming German girl band passionfruit, died. It also emerged afterwards Ludz in his teens failed numerous pilot exams and was employed by crossair due to their desperation for pilot's and also made numerous mistake's previously. Since then they have got more strict on pilot's and who gets employed, Ludz died that night but had he survived he would have had a lot to answer for.

One i came across on channel 5 last year was the british airways 747 in 1982 off to australia when the engines stopped, it was explaining why flights were aborted during the volanic ash. The jet hit volcanic ash and one by one all engines stopped and had the crippled plane falling from the sky, it would not be a problem if they were flying somewhere they could quickly find a airport but they were stuck in the indian ocean between Jarkata and Australia and about 5 minutes before the were due to smash into the sea the captain (Eric Moody) managed to get the engines back on for long enough to land in Jarkata and have every one onboard reliefed.

The reconstruction of the twin towers terrorist attack's i found horrific to watch. All the guys on the plane's (apart from the cunts off terorist's) were heroes in my book, one of the plane's the passenger's thought bravely against them but losing out in the end. Listening to real life call's from the steward's who knew they were about to die was horrific and makes me wonder imagine being in that situation i just couldn't imagine it. The actors who played the guys on the plane's aswell were superb and truly convincing aswell.

Do you watch these type of programme's much?

To be fair it happening to you there is over a one in a million chance so dont worry. Plus if your flying across europe and the engines just stop you should get to a airport on time anyway.

That's true, flying is still safer than driving in a car! I worked on an FAA study about flight crashes and the resulting fires and I still fly. I admit I don't like take off and landing tho! You get used to it when you have to fly 15 hours to go visit family!
