1. play in your country league is better than anything.

2. atleti didn't have proper 10 (CMIIW)

3. atleti in the title race

Like many have already mentioned, why sell to United? It's better to take a hit on the sale price by selling abroad to someone like PSG instead of helping to awake the 'sleeping giant'.

It's not about being sad for the player. It's the principle. It's the fact that we are selling/ or we are about to sell the player that was our best for 2 seasons in a row, to a direct rival. United may be shit, may be relegated, but they are still Manchester United. And selling Mata won't help our situation. Yes. He would optimise and help us against the big teams like Arsenal and City, but then what? What happens after that? A year after this we can see Mata being a key figure for United while they try to rebuild their squad. And believe me if this goes through, they will rebuild it around him. Seeing Mata there, Rooney would consider staying, but still they have Welbeck, RVP and Chicha. Januzaj , would add up to a decent squad and if they can bang in 2 or 3 signings they can be back in the title-race , hands down.

Also, the fact of seeing Juan in an United shirt, discusts me. Could you really expect me to like the fact that is he going to score and play for the club that I despised so much? If it goes through then it must be because he thinks it's to the betterment of Chelsea. I highly doubt it'd be because he wants to help United because that would be extraordinarily poor management.

Really good points being brought up, particularly about the strikers having to create. Ramires has played so many minutes this year, a point I think a lot of people have not noticed. I think rammy adds a lot to the team and he is my favorite player but people need to realise that there are other options apart from a straight Mata/Oscar switch and by this I mean Oscar playing deeper and a system in which the two can play.

I think this is a rhetorical question. Of course he has played there before. He was a defensive right winger in his Benfica days, just when Jesus came in 2009. He implemented that 4-1-3-2 formation with Javi Garcia as a DM, Rami as a RW, Di Maria LW, Aimar the playmaker and Saviola and Cardoso the two center forwards. He's played there for Chelsea several times too. Now if you say he looks bad when playing there (wich is the other meaning I understand from your question), than this is another topic of discussion. I hate it when Moruinho says he doesn't want Mata to leave. he's been saying that for a while now. he also said he doesn't want KDB and Essien to leave. I'm starting to doubt what he's on this year, because it's no brainer some players have been treated like crap this year. those 3 didn't get a fair chance to compete for their places. Lukaku was going on the same road as Mata and KDB if he stayed.
