If what I heard about the number is right It is 100m in total for Lukaku (75 + add on + rooney) . I am not sure we can compete with that money

If we can't compete then we can't expect to stay on top for long next year transfers will be ever more. So we either compete or we accept wining the league and CL football may become a thing of the past

Only for stupid boards. Juventus/Atletico/Dortmund/Tottenham/Monaco/Roma/Everton/Sevilla/Benfica don't do this, and all of those teams compete with far more strength than these splurging clubs like Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, PSG, etc.

Everything is normal in Serie A/La Liga at least, these days. All the transfer fees there are totally as they were 5+ years ago, other than the potential sales to Premier League clubs which they truly laugh at. It's only Bayern/Madrid/Barcelona/Chelsea/United/City/PSG/Arsenal/Liverpool actively taking part in this silly game of triple-priced transfer fees. The football world hasn't gone mad - just 9 teams have.

All I no it would be in chelsea favour to announce baka and Rudigar today

Get Morata, Rudiger, Danilo, and Bakayoko and we'll be fine :D

Removing Sandro from that list makes it utterly depressing. None of these players have ever been established starters for proven elite clubs, and it's not like Morata/Rudiger/Danilo are young rising talent.

It is what it is. We're not Bayern or Real when it comes to transfers.

Look at what happened during the last few seasons. We signed Barcelona rejects, such as Cesc or Pedro, we signed Luiz, who was the sixth or what choice, Alonso.

Chelsea doesnt want to or cannot sign superstars anymore.

We're more like Spurs, except, you know, we're successful.

Ain't got no spare time to do it myself, but I bet that if you would look in the Lukaku thread at RedCafe there is at least 20-25 people that three weeks ago were laughing at the prospect of Chelsea getting him, calling him different names, but now the exact same guys are creaming their pants over United's announcement.

A post with "then and now" comments would be glorious

Our board has seen sense at the last moment. Insane to let a player with his level of goalscoring potential join Mourinho and we just sit back and do nothing. Lukaku will easily eclipse Costa's goalscoring peaks for us. Under the guidance of Conte, he can become of one the best strikers in the world. He's just 24 and he's already one of the best in the league and I'm sure Conte will improve his work ethic for the cause.

I pulled this off the Guardian comments section:

From Whoscored (if you feel the statistics presented is not accurate, do crosscheck it yourself): Bad control per game (UnsTCh) index is headed by Zaha with 3.3 per game
Costa - 3.2
King - 2.8
Kane - 2.8
Januzaj - 2.8
Shaqiri - 2.7
Benteke - 2.6
Pogba - 2.6
Aguero - 2.5
Arnautovic - 2.5

Guess who is number 2. We watch him every week and we know how often he loses the ball with his poor control and the stats just happen to back that up. Lukaku with his "terrible touch" is not even in the top 10.

I will be honest. I am freaking out on what Lukaku will turn into under Mourinho. Other teams fans tell me how comfortable they were when Drogba left like how CR7 left and everyone was happy because they were a pain in the ass for every team they played. I somehow see that happening again under Morinho. All the best to lukaku.
