The January transfer window is important, he has to bring the right reinforcements. Identifying a team needs is an important aspect of a successful manager lets see how AVB does. He didn't do a good job in the summer.

I have been a very stubborn supporter of AVB untill today. I understand the squad is bad but to get 3 draws and a 1-3 loss at home on the trot against mid table sides is just Dire...It cannot be that bad..I dont know whats it with the Winter and us playing dull football.

I agree with you mate, I don't find possession football that interesting. Especially ours, where we can't even come close to achieving it.

German national team during the WC has probably been the most entertaining viewing in the past 5 years for me.

i guess neither of us are much of guardian readers are we because apparently if you dont play like barca you play like barbarians.

this mentality disgusts me in football im just so sick of the influence of playing aesthetics...

and anyone who questions the quality of the squad needs to watch some other clubs

He needs a whole summer transfer window not half where we've faffed around finding a Manager..January is an odd window anyway because prices are always bumped right up,clubs not so willing to sell and all.He needs a whole thing

This is no time to axe again a new manager. There's something way more vital than that, i.e. buy a new whole team. If we sack him, it means that once again the manager will have no time to asses his team and all the deadwoods will stay at the club, like some of them have did for some years.

Exactly!!! Thats where is all goes wrong....they come in have a short period then the season starts. At least this way he has had a whole season to decide...

I didn't see the Aston Villa game (drunk on New Year's), but I agree that this thread is way too crazy.

If you did see it you'd probably overdose on whatever you were drinking.

A whole season to make us fall out from the top four.

If we were going to continue our shameful trend of frivolously sacking managers then we would've already! Their is no justification for our torrid run of results, and we have a reason to be agrieved but a sacking won't fix anything! It'll do way more damage then good, I mean look at the long term! Even immediately who is their to replace him and remain here in the long run. Nobody. The fact is AVB is working with a frail squad, a midfield with little creativity, a defense leaking goals, great inconsistency upfront and a keeper not doing too great either. Let him build, the pieces he has brought are top notch we just need to afford him more time.

Our poor, terrible, woeful, awful, mediocre, uncreative, passionless, stupid, old, pathetic squad is maybe the third best in the PL. Stop deluding yourself, it's the manager who is hauling us down.

Arsene>AVB

SAF>AVB

Redknapp>AVB

Mancini>AVB

I won't hold him to high standard in this window, because i understand the circumstances that goes on in January, but he needs to do enough to make sure we finish in the top 4.
