Chelsea Sack Andre Villas-Boas

I agree with Henrique on this. The 'Slap in the face' comment was over the top. He has beaten Valencia at home and did what was expected of him.

The slap in face comment would have been approriate had he won the Title or Champions League as everyone initially had believed he was naive and will lose the dressig room to player power and that he was only a scout to them hence won't get respect bla bla bla...

I was not talking about neither the result or the performance. Personally I like his personality and the fact that his eloquence during conferences, not to mention that he has the balls to say what many fans are thinking. This is my perspective that is totally relative of course, and you have every right to think what ever you wish of him; But Stop confiscating every ones opinion.

No, Im only giving my opinion about calling epic this press conference, if you don't like it thats not my problem.

Agree it was a bit over the top but can see why he said it..espically when you open a paper up and all there seems to be is something about Chelsea and AVB.I dont think any one media wise anyway expected Chelsea to beat Valencia and get through there seemed to be so much doubt to it..

Adriano was important in Flamengo campaign, but with Corinthians he barely played, due to injuries and a fat belly.

LOL...He does look like he needs to talk to Jennie

I will give him props for scoring in match vs. Atlético MG. Corinthians needed to win that match.

Drogba: "He [Villas-Boas] is trying to build something strong, like the other managers did before. He bought some new players and we have to adapt.

"I will say the old players, the ones who have been here for a while, we have to adapt together, learn how to play together and win together.

"There are still a few things we need to improve on.

"To win the Champions League you have to be a really strong team and be lucky as well. But we have to create and make our own luck.

"If we keep going like the way we did against Valencia, then why not? It is good to be part of this new campaign.

"The match against Valencia was only my second in the competition this year so it's good to be part of it. I love this competition."

there has been completely nothing over the top, its like ppl comeing out and just criticising everything...

Boas showed balls in front of the press, he has shown (for me) hes behind his players if they are behind HIM, and this is reall, really Important. We all know he is fearless (remember that incident in the tunnel with the ref, after the barca game? yes it was AVB at that time).

He hit out at his players (if the reports are true), thats what was needed, to look them directly in to they're eyes, and telling them in front of all tha they're doing everything wron and the recent success have taken on them and made them all to selfisch, ignorant and arrogant persons. He was telling them they're not untoutchable and he will play that person that gives his best and not, that maybe has the most class (e. g. Lamps and Meireles)

I really admire him for what he's doint, and it seems like it has worked, see the Valencia game and see the Newcastle game. And after the players took on board what he said and responded, he stands infront of the press and shows his players (in a mourinhoesque way I have to admit), I will guard them, if they show me spirit and give it they're all, then I woll do this too...

And he's fully right not only for the reasons, but with what he said too... It's unbelieveable how the english media acts... But I would do it like he did it, I would try to instill an "we against them all, against all odds"-Mentality into my players... thats what Carlo, and Grant failed in, and what Mourinho and Hiddink succeeded in...

AVB is a great manager, if he's given the freedom of choice and allowing him to learn (as we all know, learning is not readin in books and thinking about things, its doing failures, and learning from them... if you didn't know till now, belive me, I know what I'm talking about ;) )

First of all there is a story that is completely wrong in yesterday's Sun - if the informant got paid please get the money back because it's completely wrong. These are players of top integrity, top human values and you respect them. The group misses their [Alex and Anelka's] relationship with us - but it was something we felt was for the benefit of the team. It can change [but] for the moment, it's not likely.

Tabloids.. -_-

The press have always been out to stir relations between the Chelsea stronghold! I say we needn't worry and AVB for me is one impressive character. I love the way he handles the situations at present, really doesnt shy away from his position. Yeah he might have been abit rash in backhanding the media after the Valencia game (maybe should have waited for after the City win) but this is something we should be happy about the fact he is ready to fight our corner and fight against the sharks. This is what Chelsea thrive on, this is how Mourinho gained the trust and respect from his players because he stuck up for them no matter what, and i believe AVB will soon wield a bond of similar strength. He must bring in a few more players to stamp his own authority on the squad and really make it his but time is on his side and first we must beat CIty any whcih way possible. Up the Blues, You'll never take my Chelsea away!

I for one LOVED the "Us against the World" seige mentality that Mou implemented.

AVB is trying to do the same.

I agree. Whether people like it or not, Mourinho's attitude helped Chelsea immensely during his stay at the bridge. He always wins the psychological battle before the game starts. And I think it would do us a lot of good if AVB does the same.

Press conferences are for the coach and the media to interact with one another and exchange views and opinions. If the media can question and criticize the coach, the coach has every right to question and criticize the media. After all its his job he's defending not yours....
