I want to ask, do you guys think AVB will play attacking football all games?

Alen Hansen was saying that AVB should be a bit more conservative when you go to Old Trafford.

Me as a spectator and fan, i was thrill by such openness.

But in actuality, do you think it's wise to be that open in every game?

I am also thinking about the next CL game that is to come soon against Valencia. Valencia is playing some sexy football right now, and if AVB continues playing with that style at the Mestalla, it will be a mouth watering clash!

Kinda preferred Ancelotti's approach with the referees but history has shown us that being passive about such things may be more honorable but you'll be at disadvantage against those who put pressure on refs.

I think it's more about developing and maintaining an approach to football rather than being attacking for the sake of it. Now if we had to beat Barcelona I doubt AVB would play right into their hands.

Fair point, but I think Kostas is right.

Don't like this at all but I'm not in his shoes and don't know his thinking. If he made a complaint that's fine but I don't see the need to tell the scummy hacks about it.

Firstly considering the incorrect or questionable decisions in the game:

  • The blatent & missed offside for the first goal
  • The offside for the second goal
  • The dubious penalty
  • The dubious free-kick award that led to the first goal

Then also consider who the ref was (Phil Dowd) and his treatment of us in the last three seasons, particularly our captain who Dowd appears to single-out. I've watched enough games to question this particular referee's ability and Lee Mason as well (or maybe even their ability to referee us impartially).

My own feeling is that AVB has gone through the correct and stated process for raising the query and if it only means we don't get Dowd for a while then thats all good. SAF has done this for years now and judging by the refereeing on Sunday he's good at it. Fair play to AVB I say.

Starting to like him more and more as the days and interviews go by. He's so clever, the kind of manager we've been after for for ages really. He just knows everything and he looks so in control. I just trust everything he does and he does things properly without pulling up mountains or making it all about him. If Roman keeps him for a few years at least, regardless of trophies, we'll be in a great position.

If the game was run by robots we would have won the treble by now.

Instead of AVB complaining to the ref, he should complain to FIFA to implement video technology!

Cause there is no point in complaining to the ref, as they will continue making mistakes.

Phil Dowd has always been a terrible referee, not just to us but he's an unfit referee. He also referee'd that game when Newcastle did the mighty comeback against Arsenal to make it 4-4. He awarded a stupid penalty kick to Newcastle and badly referee'd the game through out. He's the referee who awards decisions for people who play well, i just can't stand referee's like that. The ones who really piss me off are the ones who send someone off then realise they made a mistake by doing it, so they send someone from the other team off just to make it even.

Fifa like controversial because it creates highlights, drama and so on. That's why they will never change the way of referee'n, i seriously doubt it's because referee's have been in it for ages and it's a 'history' sorta thing. It's a shame really, some of the stuff that could of went our way if they had the technology :(.

and some of the stuff that wouldn't have gone our way... happiness requires equal amount of misery. it's just that if anything is run by humans, some will be more equal than others.

Very true, always positives and negatives.

FIFA is just corrupt that's all!

They have too much power, and this sports is a multi-billion dollar empire.

They will continue to do what suits them best.

All I'd expect is a fair and level playing field, I don't think we get it when Dowd ref's our games. If AVB's comments mean that he doesn't get our games for a while - Good. If it also means that we get a few 50/50's going our way then Good again.
