Promising goalkeeper Jan Sebek has opted against extending his contract at Chelsea and has left the club.

Instead of prolonging his association with the Blues, spacer.gif the 20-year-old shot-stopper has returned to his Czech roots and penned a three-year deal with FK Jablonec.

Sebek departs Stamford Bridge after four years spent in the club's Academy and reserve sides.

He was initially drafted in as a long-term replacement for countryman Petr Cech, spacer.gif but has been unable to make the progress he had hoped.

As a result, Sebek has decided that his development would be better served in his homeland.

Attention

His agent, Viktor Kolar, told isport.blesk.cz: "For Jan it was a great experience to be at Chelsea.spacer.gif

"He has played regularly for the reserve team and a few times he has been involved with the first team and taken part in training sessions.

"The time has now come for him to attract more attention.

"He is bound to be an important member of the Czech U21 side and that is why we have decided to go with Jablonec, a side that traditionally gives young players an opportunity to shine."
