Dec 33
Jeffrey Bruma's agent has confirmed the Chelsea defender is set to join Hamburg on loan. Former Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen had lined up a deal for Bruma after taking up a similar role at Hamburg earlier this summer. The German giants have agreed a deal to sign Bruma on loan for the next two seasons with Chelsea having the option to recall him in the summer of 2012. Bruma's agent, Wessel Weezenberg, believes the move is right for the Dutchman as he searches for regular first-team football. 'It is important Jeffrey gets playing. For him this is a good step," Weezenberg Voetbal International."We have chosen stability for Jeffrey. These two years Jeffrey has to play and he can settle in this way. At Chelsea that will be difficult, but in Hamburg the chance is bigger. However, he will have to prove it by himself. For him it is a good step. Hamburg is and remains a top team, with a fantastic stadium and a giant fanbase." Weezenberg insists Hamburg held a long-term interest in Bruma before the arrival of Arnesen. When asked if Arnesen was a big admirer of Bruma, Weezenberg said: "That is right. But Hamburg followed Jeff for years before Arnesen came to work here. The signing of Bruma is based on the impressions of many people at HSV."Sky SportsSource:
chrismada9 1,948
As long as he's getting a two-year experience and he's on loan over there, I'm happy about this!!
zolayes 14,489
not on chelsea site yet .... surprise surprise
irishblue 128
It's been on the Sky Sports' website since around 11pm and posted on this forum three times alone! No mention of the loan on HSV's website either mind you. As for Bruma himself, this should be a good move. If he can go on establish himself well in the Hamburg team, then it'll be all the better for his return. It's also interesting to hear that they've been tracking him for a while now. Kostas 1,468
I doubt he'd get much playing time here anyway and 2 full seasons in one of Europe's top leagues should develop him well and give us the ability to judge him properly. All in all it's probably a good move.

Bir_CFC 3,455
Awesome deal. He's still very young and 2 full steady seasons will do wonders for his career, at Chelsea or somewhere else.
Wilson 358
He won't come back.Something tells me that deep down aswell. Fuck off Arnesen you mug! I'm getting pissed off now. I pray he will rejoin Chelsea after. I'm hearing McEachran is going out on loan.

Madmax 9,219
A loan here is a precursor to an exit. Let's see.
Tomo 21,751
I do like Bruma but in reality he is far from ready for Premier League football, especially at centre half.
Naked Mole Rat 437
Don't long term loans like this usually involve a permanent purchase clause? I won't be surprised if Bruma doesn't come back especially with what happened to Tore and what Arnesen's doing now.

Kostas 1,468
Don't long term loans like this usually involve a permanent purchase clause? Bruma didn't agree to it. Instead Chelsea have to option to call him back after one season.
