Slight off topic, although not really, a little story popped into my head and it is about the 4-3-3, hence my reference to Sarri. So Romanian legend Popescu and Cruyff's!!!!! captain at Barcelona in the 90s said in a TV show when discussing about tactics that 4-3-3 is the most beautiful tactic, but the hardest to implement and if you don't have any patience than it's better to stick to other tactics because it is not going to work. Said 4-3-3 requires double the time on the training ground than other systems, it is so complex that even the best players forget the different patterns used! It's full of patterns and drills and triangulation and it does not work without clever midfielders. He said it's basically something that you work over and over again, day after day and still it takes even two years to come close to perfecting it. Think we must show some patience with Sarri and frankly what Popescu says here in this story I've just told you perfectly fits the curent City and Liverpool. It took Guardiola two seasons and Klopp three to bring them to this level. And those clubs were shifting from attacking football to attacking football, it was just the managers with new ideas, unlike Chelsea trying to transition from dull football to attacking one.

Bring on Sarri and Zola on the left flank and I think we win this. Willian and Alonso........ I'm lost for words, that left hand side is dead

It's a fucking travesty what is happening and what is more infuriating is that I cannot understand one thing - in this era of modern football ruled by silly money and greedy agents, clubs should do more in trying to promote local kids who have grown up in their youth setups and have one single goal and that is to play for the team they love. Take Hudson Odoi for example Chelsea through and through, at the club since 7 and bags of potential. Pulisic 50M+ is he really that better? Fuck me I don't know but hell I'm sure Hudson Odoi doesn't look like a poor mans Walcott either. Difference one is a Chelsea through and through who would play for the club he loves, the other... well I'm sure he did not grow up as a Chelsea fan. The Mounts, the CHOs, the RLCs, Sterlings of this Academy and Chelsea fans since they were little kids should be encouraged to stay. Bayern need wingers desperately, if Pulisic was that good why didn't they buy him instead? Cause they don't care about marketing stuff and settle for the talented one and that's Hudson Odoi. Sad day if he leaves.

Arsenal against a top team in the FA Cup Those warming up them balls before the draw, such an easy job and they fucked it all up, didn't they? Haha

The hell we do!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd wait until summer when Werner becomes available (confirmed by the Leipzig director, should Werner reject a contract extension).

My humble opinion - the back-up full backs are actually more suited to what Sarri tries to play than the actual regular ones. Not saying better as footballers, but better suited to the 'Sarriball'. No disrespect to Azpi, but he's got nothing going forward, Zappacosta although maybe half the footballer Azpi is, he's miles better overlapping and crossing and doing all the shit offensively. In my perfect world I'd shift Azpi back to CB and give Zappacosta some chances. Same goes for Emerson. But it ain't going to happen middle of the season. Maybe next season Sarri's going to reshufle that back line. David Luiz might be gone by pre season, instead of buying a CB, give Azpi a chance there, won a league title as a CB. Not saying he is a shite full back, he'd actually be a stellar one in a Mourinho/Simeone team, but not with Sarri, Pep, Klopp.

Well if it is not this season, then when is it going to be for Liverpool? That article from Henry Winter the other day saying every fan should be happy if Liverpool win the title was an utter disgrace. Well how can I be happy seeing the club I despise the most winning the title? They are entitled to a league title after such a long time? Oh fuck off!! There is so much hype about them from the media it makes me puke. Imagine all the dissapointment if they bottle it again. Priceless. Come on Citeh

I agree with Jason I think we're the victims of our glory at this point. We cannot wait for every single manager to work miracles. There is nothing wrong with Sarri, just needs to be given time and players to suit his style. And frankly we're not idiots to judge him after half a season, we're better than that I like to think! If you think about it - remember Guardiola in his first season at City he finished I think 13 or 14 points behind Chelsea and had to sweat big time for a top 4 finish that season. It was down the tee and they would have (miss the top 4) if it wasn't for that stupid match Liverpool drew 0-0 at home I can't remember against whom though. Klopp - 8th in his first season, 4th in his second and 4th in his third. Now frankly as much as I hate them bloody scousers they really look like the real deal, first team to look that solid in all the areas since Chelsea in Mourinho's first stint. It's all a process and Sarri must be given time and resources, otherwise we'll scrap for top 4 finish for a long long time from now on. If the boards not ready to pump big money into the team at least I hope they ask Sarri of some players, maybe he can find the new Koulibaly, Mertens etc.
-
Well it's why Guardiola wanted him so bad. The difference between Guardiola and other managers is that when one of his players has the ball, you can see others helping him, sprinting towards him to make themselves available for the pass and others making runs in behind. The thing is the guy with the ball in a Guardiola team has so many options to pass because others are ready for the next move immediately as someone has got the ball. Here at Chelsea I see nobody apart from Hazard making any runs in behind... And what the hell is wrong with the full backs, did they forget to overlap??? You see Salah and Mane, they are no wingers when Liverpool have the ball, they are pure inside forwards just because Robertson and Alexander Arnold are basically taking the winger role. We're taking no advantage of this area... Don't get me started on Azpilicueta. Top defender, but attacking wise... Useless!
-
It might sound stupid what I say but personally I think Sarri's tactics (and not only Sarri, but Pep's, Klopp's tactics too) are levels ahead of what certain players can produce, namely Willian, Morata, Alonso, even Barkley & Kovacic does not strike me with a lot of confidence also, Pedro used to play the same tactics with Guardiola but he's what now? 32? This tactics require a lot of movement in the final third and when I see Willian slowing the game down it makes my blood boil. The game is all about quick interchanging and he takes waaaay too many touches he's simply not good enough. And annoying!!! We badly need a top centre forward and a top winger for anything to change, otherwise this tactics are useless with brainless players with no penetraition and no end product. Fuck me Chelsea now average something like 70% possession of the ball and Willian has scored less than Kante!! Just think about it! And I think a goalscoring midfielder is needed also to partner Kante and Jorginho. Can't always wait for the front three to score all the time, we need goals from other areas too.
-
I don't understand really... Good enough for Bayern to pay a fortune for him, but not good enough for Chelsea to at least give him substantial minutes over Willian or Pedro... We truly are a mess when it comes to promoting youth and haven't learned one single thing from the KDB, Salah etc. deals. Hudson-Odoi is on his way to becoming a truly great winger, but we turn our heads to that Dortmund guy Pulisic who frankly I don't get the fuss around him, he's only special because he comes with a good marketing package attached to his nationality... Fucking hell!!!
-
If there is a team I never bet on that's Chelsea. And no PL matches to be fair as I want our rivals to slip up every time so of course I root for their opponents. But not this time... 12 match accumulator mostly volleyball, rugby and basketball. Plus United away at Cardiff, Mbappe to score and Paris to win against Nantes and... Chelsea! 150 Euro bet to win exactly 20.000 Euro. Only ruined by the Chels... Won only 1.500 Euro in the end as my local bookie pays you even when a match does not go your way.
-
From the tactical point of view this was an 'Italian job', a Sarri masterclass. Everytime we play a big match like this my heart races like mad, but not this time, no. Maybe the first 15-20 minutes when City were so dominant, but deep inside somehow I felt it was going to go our way in the end. Yes they were dominant, but all their moves stopped 20 yards away from Kepa. Well this win does not change the fact they are hands down the best club in England but my point is - One of Liverpool or City are going to win the title in the end, that is for sure. Do you think that is by accident that the two teams with their managers in their 3rd season there are exactly the teams fighting for the title? I don't think so. Mourinho is in his 3rd season at United also, but really is there anything you can expect from him anymore? Football has taken over him big big time. Sarri must be given time. And I hope this is the end of Morata here and the start of that dynamic front three. I think there is a better balance with Willian, Hazard and Pedro, especially on the wings where Willian and Pedro track back better when needed. Top result, huge for our morale and now I hope we go on a run before Arsenal away.
-
I give you another perspective - First I think he needs to adjust to his own squad. I agree with you I think we look too predictable but IMO it is because there are not enough goalscorers in our team. Sarri had four starters at Napoli that would share goals between them week in, week out - Hamsik, Insigne, Mertens, Callejon. Here there is only one top, top goalscorer and this is Hazard. Apart from that we play without a striker and the midfield is not productive enough. IMO we are basically one quality centre forward, winger and midfielder away from challenging for the title. Morata is not good enough, nor is Willian/Pedro and none of the midfielders are scoring enough. We can't wait for Hazard to win every match on his own. This season is going to be all about clinching top 4 and I think we'll do.
-
Well simply put we were utter crap. Spurs ten times better the other day. Time to move on. But - there are a couple of things I am fed up with. First is Morata. Wow... For me he is the lucky guy that found himself in the academy of one of world's best clubs and somehow managed to prevail. Still lives of his 'Madrid academy product' tag, but frankly he's been found out big time, such a useless player. Does not even do the basics tactically for Christ's sake!! Nevermind scoring! The guy can't stay on side to save his life... Against Everton tons of times off side, against Spurs again. Fed up with him to be fair. And 2nd - the love Kane gets from the refs is outrageous. And English internationals overall. Not saying we'd beat Spurs if it wasn't for their first goal, but honestly... Was that a free kick? Game after game after game, slightest of contacts or no contact at all, Kane goes down and refs blow the whistle no matter what. Then a few minutes later there is Foyth's challenge on Hazard inside the box and Atkinson looks elsewhere... Spurs were better in all aspects and our defence was a shambles, but there are certain moments in a football match that could prove decisive and unfortunately refs like to get themselves involved every time. No wonder there was no English ref at the World Cup.

Calm down, I did a mistake, read your post on the wife things and I thought you are a man, when you specifically asked me not to call you a guy... That's why, simple as that, I don't care at all about your sexual orientation nor I'm obsessed with you lol. Sorry again to you and the mods.
-
Well mate, kudos to you. My bad, very sorry... I read the wife things, but I thought it was a man posting here. And I did not understand to be honest - She quoted me asking why do I call her a guy, but then says about the wife things... Did not read all the post to be honest, that's why I did this mistake. My bad, sorry again.
-
Frankly I'm not looking for a fight with anybody so I'm not going to start one. Read my initial post again and maybe you will understand better. By my first sentence I meant this user wanted to imply he is 100% a woman, then changes his mind. He quoted me saying 'why do you call me a guy? I'm not a fucking guy'. Then I read he's a man, but wifey never posts lol. He can be gay, trans, I do not care mate, I never mentioned this and I never will because I simply do not care about this. Jesus...
-
At times it's hard to understand what goes through Morata's head, but I feel our biggest chance was Willian's. He had to score there or better pass to Morata who could have just passed the ball into the empty net. Only four points behind, nothing changes. Still unbeaten and congrats to Sarri on holding the record now.
-
Listen mate where did I even mention anything on gay people? I don't care what people do with their life, if they do drugs, hate black people or their sexual orrientation. My point is this user is full of shite, today a woman, next day a man, but apparently wifey posts, too, always complains on lack of transfers and brings the most boring Football Manager transfer lists on the table, there is nothing about this club that gets a smile on his face, Kante's not good enough, nor is Alonso, Sarri drags our future down by not playing 17 year olds etc. It's my last post on this fake user, you will see he is gone by next summer when there is no new Football Manager wonderkids to post. This forum has had its fair share of wums and they did not last long.
-
A girl advocating for women's rights at first, now all of a sudden a man lol! But a couple in disguise ayayay so cute. Next thing you know their dog is the one posting in here. Well long story short a massive WUM hahah

Yeah pretty sure there is something in all of us the fans that would like our clubs to field superstars all over the field, but it is what it is you know, cant have it all so my point is maybe some fans should get behind the current set of players and stop moaning over and over again. We've both been on football forums for some time and frankly you get to recognise the wums immediately, they always brag about football knowledge and transfer suggestions during whole season and when this is over and the club does not pick the most glamorous trophies you don't get to see them back here by when the next season starts. It's not only in here, happens at RedCafe also, RAWK, bluemoon etc. Transfer suggestions are always a breath of fresh air, but only in January and during the summer, am I right? Actually one of my favourite threads on the web is the one at RedCafe, the transfer tweets during both windows, they do a pretty good job over there. Now we're in full season, having a good one actually and every thread you try to read there is all this constant moaning and fucking Football Manager stories like football works like that. Who cares if some fans do not see Kante fit for this tactics? Sarri knows better who is fit or not and Kante specifically said a few weeks back he loves his new role. So what is there to argue then? I am all for debating on football forums, but sometimes it is borderline ridiculous when wums try to derail everything. And it happens when we're undefeated by November, 2nd only behind what is a glorious Guardiola team, lots of goals scored, lots of possession etc.
-
Please any of the mods can make a separate thread for this guy in the banter section or whatever? Every thread I visit on this forum is full of nonsense comming from this chap, always complaining, always bringing up all sorts of names like football transfers work like that, blink and you transfer a complete new team. Kante is not fit for this role, Luiz not good enough, Alonso not good enough, Sarri dragging the club down for not playing Hudson Odoi yada yada yada. Well maybe you should fucking start supporting the team and the new manager who trusts this players and by the way is undefeated since coming here and leave the tactics and transfer targets into his hands. Jesus Christ....

That was fun 😁 Let's get Burton at home next
