Chelsea FC sign 18-year-old Stipe Perica
Badboy replied to coolhead23's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
These type of signings never seem to work out. I don't understand why these kids come to a club like Chelsea that young. Unless you're a Ronaldo or Messi then you're going to have to learn your trade at a smaller club like Eto'o did and many others. -
No point discussing this because none of them will make it. I've been on Chelsea forums since 2003 and we've had so much excitement running through this forum and the old one and NONE of them have been given a PROPER chance. This club is an absolute disaster when it comes to youth players but if you're a youngster bought for 20 million or so like Oscar and Lukaku then they'll make sure you succeed. Bertrand is sneaking through but he's had 5 different loan clubs since 2006 and he's still not getting a consistent game at 23 years of age even though he has someone ahead of him who is rather special.

It isn't being discussed in the Mata thread I've just checked it !

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reiterated that Juan Mata is in his plans and hinted at a new role for him this season. Speculation has linked Mata with a summer exit from Stamford Bridge but Mourinho has stressed that the Spaniard has a key role as the only left-footed player he feels is comfortable on the right. "Of course he fits into my plans," Mourinho said. "I have my idea about him, about where he produces better and where he has more difficulty. "We will try to help him perform better in those situations. I've always liked a right-sided player to be left-footed. "I started with (Arjen) Robben and (Damien) Duff, then (Goran) Pandev at Inter, and (Angel) Di Maria and (Mesut) Ozil. Many clubs do it. It's more than a tendency. "I like wingers coming in on the inside for the penetrative movement, for the pass, for the shot. And Juan is the only player we have to do that on the right." Jose Mourinho "I like wingers coming in on the inside for the penetrative movement, for the pass, for the shot. And Juan is the only player we have to do that on the right. "On the left we have (Eden) Hazard, Victor Moses, Kevin De Bruyne, Andre Schurrle. Juan is also very comfortable playing as a No10. In between these two positions, he has a lot to give to the team." Mourinho has often appeared more comfortable praising workmanlike players rather than star named such as Chelsea's player of the year and the Portuguese boss believes there is logic to this. "I am not the kind of guy who makes life easy for the great players," he added. "This kind of player is the last I praise. "You have to praise the guys who play to their limits, who give everything. They are not superstars. They are just good players trying to support their teams. "Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the top players, the guys who win you matches and make the difference. But if they are great, they have to give more than the others. "For me, to praise an ordinary player is easy. For me to praise a top player is not. When a player is different and has more potential than others, he has to use his talent in a good way." Skysports

I like Lukaku a lot I really think he's going to become an accomplished star.
-
Yeah I agree these reactions are unbelievable to say the least !
-
I can see us signing him now and I'm not happy about it. I just have a feeling that he's going to force it through.... I don't think this lad has much left in the tank...
-
There's going to be massive competition for midfield places this season. We have many players that want to play in the middle and I think we'll probably have a double pivot this season meaning there's 2 slots. I don't see anyone at the moment who is a definite pick for the double pivot ! No stand out player to be honest ! Van Ginkel has a great great chance !
-
I think this should be in general chat.
-
Yeah but my question is why isn't he up for the fight ? Rooney was always a far superior player to RVP when they were young and it just seems that Rooney has gone backwards in his development. He should show that he's the best striker at the club like Drogba dominated Shevchenko when we had signed him.... Why isn't it upping his game like it did to Didier ?
-
He was the one who threatened to leave Man Utd the season before ''because of a lack of ambition'' because he wanted better players to be signed. Alex Ferguson signs RVP who is the best striker in the league at that time after winning the golden boot with Arsenal and what does Rooney do ? He can't constantly pick and choose and hold his club to ransom.
-
Rooney wanted to leave when Alex Ferguson was still the Man United manager and he handed in the transfer request which Ferguson admitted in public. I think he see's the fact that United have RVP and Hernandez and he doesn't fancy the task ahead in all honesty and a few former players like Micheal Owen have said it in the past few weeks. If he thinks he ain't gonna get major competition from a confident Lukaku then he's mistaken.
-
The thing that worries me with Rooney is why is he so scared of competition as if he wouldn't get that at Chelsea ? He has an inferiority complex against RVP and it just shows that everything has to revolve around Wayne Rooney and do I really want that type of player at Chelsea ? I really don't know ! At first I was looking at this transfer and I was excited but Iv'e started to take other factors into consideration and started to use my head more then my heart and I've got reservations at the moment and those reservations are not going away !
-
He didn't want to leave first time ! He left because he made a silly comment about omelettes and Roman felt that he hadn't appreciated the money he'd spent in the past most of it being under Ranieri by the way. Roman stopped spending all of a sudden and we started to struggle with free signings like Ben Haim, Sidwell and Pizzaro ! Look at what happened to Mancini at City !
-
Sam it does seem that you have a problem with him that runs deep because you have criticised him to no end ! You are constantly highlighting his failures when in all honesty its not easy to find any manager that has been as successful as him at his age. I respect your opinions though !
-
How can he be overrated by anyone... Drogba is the greatest target man that has ever played the game in my opinion ! The art of playing with the back to goal was advanced by Didier !No player has been able to play with their back to goal as good as Drogba and he was probably the most unselfish striker that I'd ever seen in his first 2 seasons. Drogba was the difference when we were under pressure and when players like Lampard and Terry were getting outplayed by players like Xavi and Ronaldinho.... Drogba was the man that constantly stood up in semi finals and finals and dragged us from near losses. I don't care whether he got a little lazy after 2010 or whatever the amount of knee injuries and other injuries he's had in the past at his age made it lucky he could even walk. There is not one striker in the world I would of traded for Didier ! no striker has the fire and hunger of Drogba !

Should we put our faith in the youth?
Badboy replied to The only place to be's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Yeah I agree.... Don't know what's happened to Josh ? Classic example of good player being roasted because of no stability. -
Comparing squad situation in 04/05 and now
Badboy replied to Melanicus's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
That 04-05 side never had Champions in it though. This Chelsea side has a lot of players who have done it before and they don't have that barrier ! -
He doesn't want to come to Chelsea and he's made that crystal clear, what don't you guys understand about that. Even if he does arrive we would of been wayyyy down the pecking order..... I don't want him any more he's treated our club like a toilet and we're better then that !
-
I wouldn't mind getting Tevez for 15-20 million and starting Romelu upfront. Think we should give up on Cavani to be honest it's too much money for us to dish out !
-
Lets be fair to Jose now because that 07-08 season was unfair on him because he got no money and he could only sign shite like Sidwell if I remember correctly. SWP was a horrible signing but a lot of the shite jose bought was the rotten eggs he could only afford when he went on his rant... he never really wanted them !
-
I think it was probably what the club needed though Roman was a cold business man and he did it for the benefit of the club. I remember we all wanted him to stay because we felt sorry but you have to admit he's not on Mourinho's level. Would he have won the league the next season probably but not as clinical as Jose !
-
I would agree if you said players who are easy on the eye like Robben then i'd agree but Mourinho is the ultra manager for efficient no nonsense players like Drogba and Essien. Mourinho bought winners like Carvalho.... Ranieri bought players easy on the eye like Veron and Crespo !
-
He said he was like Tom Jones in one of his interviews lol but Roman shit all over him..... everyone wanted him to stay because they felt sorry for him but Roman was cool and clinical and knew Jose was the future. I remember that season because I went to the opener against Liverpool and Veron scored then Hasselbaink my Dutch brother smashed one into the kop end and we starting singing its a new dawn a new day ! Never forget that season oh and we were destroyed by the Spanish king Fernando Morientes in the Champions League after possibly the worst tactical decision by Ranieri after Monaco went a man down.

Gus Poyet fired, and finds out live on BBC at Half-Time
Badboy replied to Special Juan's topic in Football Chat
I don't really expect better from the BBC in all honesty.
