Would much much more prefer if deal involving Cech and Real also included Varane. Exactly ! That was so obvious in the last Spain game. When on the pitch were Silva, Iniesta and Isco, Koke seemed like a strange object from different universe. Literally. Isco is much more talented than Koke. I can't get my head around how Koke, though very good, is only "ordinary" player. Meanwhile someone like Isco has that special feature about him, magician. For the money that is quoted for Koke (60m€ release clause) I'd hate if Chelsea still have only one player (Hazard) who can take you off your seat and create something special. The money involved must means that you acquire quality as well as flair and beauty. And it's not only thing for the eye of the observer but also so-called 'bit of magic' in one crucial moment which decide the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v6QcPoVKYw From 10:50 to 11:25. Mourinho’s men put on a masterclass yesterday against Roberto Di Matteo’s Schalke side, beating them 5-0 at Veltins Arena in what the Chelsea boss described as one of his sides most complete matches. Mourinho was most impressed with his side’s mentality heading into the game, noting their focus and ambition, which he believes has led to the Blues great run of form. “I don’t remember Chelsea playing in this way away from home. Obviously, there have been great victories away from home with me, with Roberto, even with other managers. But this was very impressive. Very complete.” “The players are very serious… Everything they do with big focus and ambition, but at the same time with this component, which is something new in Chelsea football – this happiness, this flair, this beauty.” “The way they are doing things, we are very happy. We are having good results and playing really, really well at this moment.” Objective-seeking master said in the January : "Ok guys, enough of this 'flair playing' nonsense, January on means business !" (But seriously, he said that the club is happy playing in THIS WAY, yet IN THIS WAY Chelsea played only against decent to average oppositions. Is there even a plan to play with 'flair and happiness' for a) more than a couple of months b ) against good and top clubs c) not depending on Fabregas fitness ? )
-
Of course we will. Mourinho says (again) that we're going for a win at the moment when we can perfectly set for a draw. What a fucking liar he is.
-
I know where are you heading. However, can you convince me that in the next season or in 2 years time, Chelsea aren't going to retreat completely when they face good-to-top club ? That they are going to impose their style, commit several players to go forward and generally play at least semi-open football ? Be proactive and not only reactive ? Play to their strength and not to limit themself to interrupt opponent's game ? I don't see that assurance from you. I you want to convince me, I don't believe you. In 2016/17 the turnover will exceed well over £400m, probably something close to €550m. That's just mindblowing amount of money. From resources like these, Chelsea have to play on the front foot, have to play offensive, have to be aggressive no matter who they play against. Yet I still see Jose Mourinho aka "The Deadlock Master" at our helm and somehow doesn't believe it that Chelsea are going to play like this when facing top opponents. Hope I am wrong.

We will get him. Real Madrid already tried to offer Illaramendi in part of the deal for Aymeric Laporte in January. But Bilbao said no, they want cash only. Also they don't want to make this easy for Real and doesn't want to sell even euro less than release clause, so Real would have to pay taxes on top of that clause. However, I think they're going to strike a deal. In the summer it will be easier and if Bilbao still want Illaramendi they somehow meet at the middle ground, I hope so. But why Real need Laporte there's the question. Replacement for Varane or his partner ? Varane already gave a couple of hints here and there that he doesn't want to speak about the future and only focus on this season. I didn't get for a one bit a conviction that this player is really committed to Real for the next 6 years. They're still on the phone with Jose. Jose adores the kid and says that he's one of the 3 best young players in the world while Varane says that Jose is the best coach he had, because he was really honest with him and gave him the chance. I see this transfer going through. It's one of 2 top priorities in the summer.
-
Just lol'ed at this epithet. Who's responsible for these nominations BTW ? So the players can only choose from that pool or voting is already done and that pool is selected from votes ? I already said that I think Eden is going to win both PFA Young Player of The Year and main prize PFA Player of The Year since he's considered "young enough" for this award. So logically, there can't be another choice.
-
Does Hazard speak Dutch ? He's good pal with Charlie and Thibaut and they're both native-Dutch speakers if I'm not mistaken.
-
They're similar height. However, very much doubt that Christiansen is 1,88m. I think he is between 1,83-1,85. Those height measurements on the site are misleading. I really don't know what's the reason behind it and why they can't measure them properly but 2 examples : Chelsea listed Youri Zhirkov as 1,85m (who is between 1,78-1,80m) and Sturridge as 1,88m (who now on Liverpool site is 1,83m). Pro tip : I know that men after the wake up is a couple of centimeters taller. Only later comes back to the normal height. So here could be possible explanation for such odd mistakes.
-
Not only he'd add that needed pace but also ball-playing skills. His passing is ridiculously good, also under the pressure. No more hoofing the ball as soon as opponent appears 15 yards from Cahill. Very good performance from him. That's why I tell that he is still that good even though sometimes he can struggle. Jose would help to put the performance like that every match. Beast in the air, so confident playing in the high line and very assured with possession. I keep dreaming.
-
But he has just mindblowing acceleration from standing position. His style of play is just like Hazard's - full of stops, burst, stops, bursts. So many young players are struggling with physicality that I'm hugely relief that this guy is already there from physical point of view. It's good that he's such a beast in standing on his feet. Mourinho hasn't promoted any offensive player yet in his career. So far only 6'2" defenders/midfielder. I'd love if Jeremie would change that. I think that if Jeremie was a player in the opposition club then Mourinho would take time to figure out how to stop him. The same happened with Sterling, Januzaj or Kane from recent time. So Jose actually can acknowledge that young kid can be quality, dangerous player. Why he can't see that in our own youngsters though ? Nah, I think (hope ?) that they really put a deep thoughts about it like Jose said, like Emenalo said, like Neil Bath said (Academy director). They put a deep thoughts and try to find the solutions. Neil Bath said that the goal is to bring a 1 player each year. For sure he didn't say that because that's his wishful thinking but rather a conclusion with the board, the owner, the manager etc. They all have the same aim , at least I want to believe in that somehow. They already included a couple of those players on the Champions League list so maybe that's the phase 1 of this process. Again, that's my hope. But forking them out on loan is not the best solution. Many of them would thrive in playing with better players, on the same wavelength. Loans can be very harmful. I just hope they figure the whole things out so we won't lose this golden generation.

Chelsea looking at a Belgian partnership?
Blue Colored Sky replied to Chelsea Legend 11's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I doubt that this is the development place. Rather another storage to place the broken leftovers under the contract ... Vitesse are pissed off that we send them so much broken stuff over the years that they supposedly will receive now only selected players, probably the biggest talents who aren't tainted yet by unsuccessful loan spell(s). -
Those Barca fans who saw that match still talk about him. He was 16 back then But seriously, he's the biggest talent out there. From quality point of view as well as physical as well as his movements. When he's in his full flow he looks like a first team player somehow still trapped in the development league. He has so much of a readiness to play in the senior football already, I think he wouldn't have to adjust. Of course tactically he is still lagging behind but so are many of the young players. Even RLC is not there defensively. All of them have to progress but it's natural. I'm sure Eden Hazard wasn't anything good in the tactical thing when he was 18. Hell, he wasn't even good when he joined here at 21. Immaculate talent, freak physique. There was one action yesterday when Boga had the ball glued to his feet for 60-70 yards, during that time he was assaulted by many players from different angles but he still kept going. It's ridiculous how strong he is on his feet. That's why I always give the edge over others young offensive players who are often too week for seniors. Jeremie is by far stronger than Cuadrado for example. I'm sure that with couple of months he would be much more ready for the Premier League than Juan Cuadrado. Boga already showed against senior players in the pre-season how strong he is and that he belongs to the senior level. Cuadrado would fall off at least 3 times in that action. https://youtu.be/PSUVFghgqQg?t=48s He'd do the job now but really don't know where his future lies. The best for him would probably be if he'd be released in the summer, many big clubs would be after him with chance to play at the highest level. You know, loans are good, but player, especially as talented as him, can progress much faster when playing at the high level. He can go on loan but after one loan there will be another etc. One loan, ok, but you know that he's going on carousel of loans. It's sad story. Doubt that he's going to be with the first team next season. He is homegrown, he doesn't have any more business in the development leagues. I really would root to make it anywhere but Chelsea. I fear that Mourinho, if he's going to include some youngsters, they all will be English and also the biggest of them (so for example no Jay Dasilva and Charlie Colkett but RLC and Solanke/Brown). Jeremie should search for happiness somewhere else. You just know that we're going to sign Douglas Costa or other Enner Valencia, so we will have two average/decent players for two spots. Of course instead of those two we should have one of supreme quality and the other supreme youngster. I doubt that we will have player as talented and as "first-team looking" like him for the long time in the Academy yet the situation seems doomed.
-
The myth that the play has to be build around him is still in tact ? Or that you cannot challenge for the title with him in the squad ? Thank you.
-
But you just know how we're gonna set up. You just know that. And yesterday in Monday Night Football Gary Neville said that Mourinho is going to play with Zouma in the midfield and we will have 6 defensive players and will rely on magic from Hazard or set-piece. But everyone know that as a truth now. Everything different from that will be a surprise. We're only associated with that type of football. We have to set up defensively against such players like Young, Fellaini and never uncapped Herrera. At home. Only think to grind out draw at the end. And people here will tell me that I should dance because we survived.
-
It's true. But look, we really only have Hazard, Fabregas and Diego/Remy who are a threat. They don't have to worry about Willian - he's not a danger. They don't have to worry about Matic and Mikel/Zouma - they're defensive midfielder. They don't have to worry about our full-backs in Azpilicueta and Ivanovic who are highly ineffective. The only solution is to put Filipe in the side and then they have another one to deal with. While we have to keep an eye on their both full-backs, Young, Mata, Fellaini, Herrera, Rooney ... Can anyone remind me how the hell we're first since August with such minimal danger in our side ?
-
They have to progress. Solanke is too big for that level. Abraham is still to prove at U21 and can be no.1 so he can stay. Almost all of the guys that are already homegrowns should go. Dasilva should go too, I would challenge him, however he isn't counted as a homegrown yet, so he stays. I don't know where I'd loan Boga and Musonda though. Boga would cope with Championship with his physicality but I think the French team would be better to improve him tactically to get the point across to him. Musonda would go to Anderlecht but probably there will be suitors for him from elsewhere. I think his native is Dutch so the Netherlands as well is a good option. But France always seems to me like the best development league (actually it is) so would try the most there. Christiansen to Vitesse. Solanke, Brown to stay in England, RLC to stay with us. I would sell Colkett to some Spanish team with buy-back clause, that's the best place where his profile would suit to and where he would be the most appreciated.
-
Imagine if that side would become our class of 2015. I'm young enough to keep dreaming but Christiansen, Dasilva, Colkett, RLC, Boga, Musonda, Solanke are talented enough to be there at this level. Like Jose said, the talent has to be first, the talent is the most important thing and all the above have that talent for me. This side has everything in them, you can read on Chelsea Youth twitter feed this. You want pace, there's pace. You want physicality, you have physicality. You want ball playing centre backs, you have them both. You want attacking full-backs, there're attacking full-backs. You want midfield dominator and midfield creator, you have that. You want someone to glue midfield you have one. You want individual brilliance who can turn the game and constantly take on people, you have that. You want reliable goalscorer, there's not one but two. You want to have goals from all over the pitch as well, you have that. This side is complete.
-
Well, Brown is physical player himself. He's fast and has lot of energy. And he showed again that he has very good finish in him. Utmost better than launching a long balls to Zouma. You really don't think that Zouma would actually do something effective ? In theory you could even put Cech upfront to collect long balls. I don't even know why I discuss this. Somehow Mourinho put Schurrle upfront at Old Trafford even though "he's more of a winger" instead of giving a go to David Luiz. How can anyone explain this to me that he used a winger instead of defender upfront ? It's baffling that comment like this can still be excused but lionsden hit the nail.

What's the most amusing is that Mourinho actually plays against kids, who under him would be deemed not ready but are causing him all sorts of problem in trying to nullify them. I'm thinking about Kane the last term or Messi for example in 2006, Januzaj, Sterling from last season or Jordan Ibe when we will face him this season. All of them under him wouldn't be an asset in his eyes if they were with us but are the threat when he prepares the team to play against them. So he actually can see that inexperienced kid can be quality player but sadly can't see that in our own youths Weird ... " Is Solanke "ready" then? Not yet, according to Mourinho. "I cannot play Solanke against Southampton with 30 minutes to go and the score at 1-1. I can't," he said recently. Why not? Surely if a player is good enough he is ready? Mourinho always seems to lack conviction when broached about the subject." The journalist already noticed this. And that's because it is far, far away from his comfort zone. "What happens if, as per usual, Mourinho has his head turned in the transfer market? If Abramovich really wants to see a return on his investment in Chelsea's youth policy then perhaps he needs to decide when a player is ready. That would make for a short discussion between owner and manager." Maybe that already happened and that's why all the Academy day talk and 8 minutes for RLC took place. Because after the match Mourinho said that RLC has to buy him a bottle of wine ! Lol. For giving the youngster 8 minutes in the meaningless game. That's how generous he was The comment under the article : Andes Tung · Top Commenter · Becker College His CV. That's the only thing matters to Mourinho.Youngsters, no matter how talented they are, are bounded to be inconsistent as they are learning the game. That is a risk an extreme result-oriented guy like Mourinho would not want to take. "For now, Mourinho's fear of failure holds sway and Solanke, Brown, Loftus-Cheek and all the other Chelsea academy kids must wait in line." That's the point. Mourinho fears of result even in the meaningless game and youngsters are causalities. I think playing untested youngster is by far the biggest fear in football for him, even bigger than prime Barcelona, lol.

Great, however I've expected this. The side we fielded would be too good for any young side in Europe. That should be illegal because as quality as our players are they're also very physical for this age. That was too much for Shakhtar. Finally it confirmed that we can claim formally that we have one of the very best Academy in Europe, I don't have enough dwell on things which will help the discussions As soon as Boga turned, it was over. How fucking great he is ? Much love for him. All class from him from that 25 minutes in the second half. He just made fun, the technique, acceleration, balance, the physique, that was way too much much. I don't think that I'm going to enjoy such extraordinary talent for a long time in the Academy. I don't much care about FA Youth Cup now, I wanted Chelsea to win European prize and they did it in fantastic way. I just have a sad feeling about today though, because much of these boys are going in their own direction in the summer. Such great side will be over I don't see much of the same from current U18 team, apart from maybe 2 players, they aren't as quality as this side. I simply loved this youth team and enjoyed many, many games from them. It was a pleasure. Now Boga, Musonda, Solanke, Brown, RLC, Colkett, Christiansen are going to progress into the senior football. But where ? We can't mess with them, they're far too talented to do that. I hope that there's grand scheme of thing how to progress them into the senior football. Not stupid keeping them on the bench or making deadline day loan. At the end at least 3 of them should end up in Chelsea. Only RLC will be not good since it's his size that would decide. I sincerely hope that there's a plan somewhere. I bloody want to believe that we will have strong enough first team to fill in the squad with 2 youngsters almost seamlessly. At least strong enough that Jose won't have to 'protect' them.
-
In which years ? In this decade at least ?
-
I think only after the season we will get some information. I'm very interesting what data they collected so far. Still think that the move to Earls Court/Lille Bridge will be on the cards.
-
No one of us will even touch the trophy, mind. I can't start dance because we're first. I can't rewatch this shit. Can anyone of you even watched the game again for your own pleasure (apart from the goal) ? I guess not. It was said on many places that football is tribal thing. I can't talk with friends about the match, I simply can't enjoy this. Even with fellow Chelsea fans all I can talk is "we were lucky at the end". Between Chelsea fans we're talking about Bayern, Barca or Real because the only thing about Chelsea you can talk is the score. That's not nice. How can I be overly happy that young millionaires grind out result after shit football for months ? I can't be. I see enough of football from my local teams and when I watch Chelsea I want at least to know what we're going to play. I want to see clear identity and style of play. But Jose can't hear critics because of clanging of all his medals. That's what Rodgers said, at the end Jose is going to show his CV and tells "it works". So I can even remotely hope that he changes his approach ? I can't I hope for the best and hope we build on this big time but it would need a pretty big changes in Jose's mindset to build something long term. I want to see this for sure, make no mistake. But, for example, if he's going to play CB as a striker instead of young player, how can I be sure that he really fulfil his promises about integrating youngsters ? I can't. Roman watched this shit yesterday. He's freak, he wants to have clear style of play. He emphasized this when he interviewed Ancelotti for the job. I don't think that he's content with current play too much. I hope it's a concern for him too. To finish this : I think I give up discussing the matter this season. I can go back next season to this . Let's hope for the best in the market. There're resources for 3 or 4 big signings, some of players will leave. And let's hope that Jose is going to change his mindset. I love him but IF he's going to play Azpilicueta as a winger against someone, because he's too scared of defeat, then I'm done.
-
Wow, you finally said what your real position is. Because from my short time here the only thing I got from your posts is that your blind Mourinho supporter. You literally only came up with this and only replied to the posts that criticised Mourinho. So I made my assumption that something is wrong with you that you don't how shit we're playing. However now I know I was wrong, sorry. I agree with you and I always say that I only start giving final grades after 3rd season. However I don't know how many people are there who seem that they don't bother about anything but box score. Why even watch the match then ? If we only want to discuss the boxscore - the forum is dead. I sincerely hope that everyone here only pretends to not be even one bit worried about how we play and only waits for this title to be finally won. However you exaggerated. No one would ever criticize Chelsea if they would do something once to justify the means. But the pattern is obvious. So you actually excuse the one shot on target against the worst defence in the league, after the whole week of preparation ? I don't. You say that you expected that, I didn't. Sorry, I really didn't. The two games against Paris are explainable ? No they aren't. The money that is spent here encourage to demand more. The slump after December is too much. We win yes, but as I said, probably in 9 out of 10 seasons we would not win that much post December. It concerns me that we don't have anything build yet. Only act on the short term work. And that fucking, stupid approach to our youths. I just can't accept it. This league title won't taste as good as you thought. The last months bereft me of an excitement. I only want this god-damn title to be wrapped up and move on from that and build on from that. In the perfect world, Jose just throw that huge monkey off his back after this title and start again from the 3rd season. Buy crucial players, promote and play some of our golden youngsters and when we entertain Bayern don't fucking defend with 11 men in our 30 metres zone. Don't only nullify them, don't play Azpilicueta as a winger, Zouma as a midfielder etc. Get there, play tactically but don't be scared as shit of them. Can Jose deliver that even with better players ? He has to start the change from the bottom of his mind I fear.

If the quote is true (I bloody hope it isn't) then he basically says EOT in all that discussion about bringing players through.
