  1. Please checks his stats, numbers not opinions, in 21/22 season both in CL and in the PL. Sorry, I'm not going to discuss numbers here. For the record, I have no problem discussing and handling different opinions (that's why we are all here); I'm just not into rewriting history myself. Plenty of players whom I thought weren't that impressive won big silverware and I'll always respect that.
  2. Yup, another "fan" who does not like silverware. What you think of his skillset should be irrelevant when he brings the goods and helps win silverware, the biggest there is, for the team you claim to support. After all, the whole point here is to win silverware, isn't it? Already shared his impressive numbers in that CL run; I have already shared his impressive numbers in the PL that same season. Conor hasn't done anything remotely close to that yet and that's a fact, and why I think the comparisons are silly. They don't even play in the same role. I'm talking about accomplishments here, not empirical options of 'what ifs" in a parallel universe.
  3. Looks like he can dribble on that video, but his overall game isn't very impressive is it? Maybe it comes with the now traditional Chelsea FC warning of "for his age."
  4. Another mount Conor comparison. 🙄 Repeat after me: "Conor hasn't done a thing; Conor hasn't won shit." it's not hard. 😃
  5. So, if I get this right, we once again need to rely on blissful ignorance. Well… that has worked before, so let’s hope. on somber news, I was watching a former CIA director talk about checks and balances. 😂 From a time when Supreme Court judges did not fly private jets paid by billionaires who happen to have a particular political view eh. and people still don’t understand “access.”
  6. 21yo CBs rarely reach their peak this early; all we got now is potential and good performances here and there. This is specially true for certain positions, like CB and Goalie. I'm sure someone will come up with a list of a 18yo CBs doing well, but the keyword here is "rarely." I do see both potential and good performances from him, btw
  7. Definitely. On the other hand garland didn’t help Biden administration in any way. Pretty much old school do nothing career politician — everything the moment didn’t ask for. His appointment looks like a big mistake by Biden admin tbh here.
  8. This is the story that may hurt trump in the elections https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/aug/02/trump-campaign-2016-egypt-investigation "Report reveals secret US inquiry into alleged 2016 Egyptian $10m gift to Trump" The most interesting part was how the FBI investigation was killed by the DOJ (Barr).
  9. Well I guess it's one way of putting it, but the reality is that trump is backing off. There will be lawsuits over the abc one, for example. We shall see, but the way I read as if Chelsea FC were playing a single-elim with another team, and they only *accepted* to play a single match and at the Stamford Bridge... I bet the headline would've been a bit different then.
  10. Right, but I was surprised by the spin work done in the headline by bbc.
  11. Even tho the article is about trump/Harris, my question is about BBC: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cv2g22365yqo Do they usually run articles with pieces with such blatant false-equivalency? I mean the actual facts is pretty clear, and I don't anyone does not know what Fox News is in relation to Trump. So, the headline itself seems pretty dishonest.
  12. Raises questions about last season. 👆 Having a year left in contracts shifts the power towards players and agents.
  13. KDH for Conor (good) Carney was there, but injured (his best games, for me, were in a defensive left-wing role a la Mount). Lavia was there since August, but injured. Ugo gone is an improvement -- nowhere ready and to be frank, he's nowhere near good enough atm. Casadei gone is an improvement. Read so many "he looks good" in preseason tho... please don't read too much into "flag" football (aka pre-season). Palmer is not a mid: same way it's a waste when you move Enzo to a CAM position, moving Palmer away from the opposition goal makes little sense (considering how good he is in the final third). Reckon that potentially getting a fully fit Enzo back would be the big upgrade this season.
  14. Are you suggesting that Caicedo would replace Rodri at City? or Rice at Arsenal? Lavia hasn't even played a full PL match for us yet. 🤷‍♂️ I am actually curious to see how Caicedo will work in Maresca's system -- he does not seem like a great fit on paper, but maybe he has that in his toolbox and Maresca will develop that. Honestly, I see a lot of projections here with "he looks good". A lot of these players have a lot to prove. Pre-season excitement is great, but I'd not be surprised one bit with an early struggle in the league.
  15. One thing I've learned is that we shouldn't discuss opinions if we disagree about the facts. Nothing you wrote above makes any sense to me, so, agree to disagree. I'm glad that England finally sorted their Mount problem though.
  16. Your points are contradictory though: you don't value enough huge performances on the big stage. And at the same time you said that his PL record was against smaller clubs. So, which one was it? If we get that sorted than I can answer the second part. 😉
  17. Also, just for historical accuracy, in the 21/22 PL he had 11 goals and 10 assists in 32 matches. So, the narrative that he "only" had those 7 CL games is pretty much incorrect. On the other hand, if his current form and fitness are his norm, then the club was right in not making the effort to renew his deal. Conor hasn't really done a whole lot for the club any way you look at it.
  18. Just reread what you just posted.... 🙂 "aside from being a key player in a CL win... nope did not do much." Players go through entire careers and don't have those 7 games he had scoring against Real Madrid and assisting the final. Been there before -- we seem to value these big performances very differently.
  19. Yeah I was one of the few who truly rated him even when he wasn't firing in all cylinders. On the other hand, maybe the club noticed a physical decline that seems to be lingering on at least as of last season. If that situation remains, club did very very well selling him at the time and for that amount; it's still a bit soon to know for sure.
  20. Remember vaguely that the issue with Mount wasn't the contract, but the fact he was on the lower side for a very long time compared to his starting XI teammates esp after the CL win. Players and agents think about wage-over-time, which certainly makes sense given their short careers. As I wrote earlier, I think Conor has to do quite a bit to achieve what Mount did, but the similarities regarding the deal esp timing wise are intriguing.
  21. I guess you can say they are all very pacy, but I don't consider them powerful... maybe Walker but he's hardly the one who stays back. Aggression is a mental skill, not physical. Kante is full of aggression and he's a tiny guy. My take on the D of the positional game, is that pace and skill on the ball are the new requirements. Pace for both the high line and to close down aggressively; skill on the ball is important for keeping possession from the back. That does not mean they shouldn't be able to defend, but only that there are new requirements at play. All academic of course; he's 18 and will develop into his own player. Suppose we will find out when he returns from loan.
  22. Likely a big part of the reason Trump is very reluctant to debate her. 😅
  23. Yeah I saw that - just "the real person" on display there. On even more chilling news: Trump said: "Christians, get out and vote, just this time. "You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians." He added: "I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote," Trump said. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-tells-christians-they-wont-have-vote-after-this-election-2024-07-27/
  24. If we don't get him, he must NOT go to Arsenal. 😓 Hopefully Guardiola/City would think the same way.
  25. hah true. I think the most vocal about that was Lucio (I sense his wisdom nearby 😅), but I don't think many of us would consider Conor a super skillful player or a "passing machine." I'm hopeful for KDH, with the caveat already stated (bit of patience).
