Even Torres scores
-
Romeu scores his first goal from the spot.
-
Listening to these two lads commentating I picture the room from where they are commentating filled with Fernando Posters
-
Bertrand scores our second goal after Piazon assist I think
-
Cahill scores the opener after a corner by Mata
-
That's not very logical - It's not smart to play our only striker against a Championship team in the League Cup? If he gets injured it would look like quite a dumb move
-
They want to give Torres some easy goals to help with his "confidence". Othewise a very good line up. Very dissapointing if I'm unable to watch this match
-
Hopefully Piazon starts the game, together with Bertrand, Moses and Oscar. I think Hazard and Mata will probably start against Arsenal so I doubt all 3(Oscar/Mata/Hazard) will play tonight - I'd prefer this line up tonight in midfield: ----Ramires--Romeu--Malouda---- ----------------Oscar------------------ ------Moses-----------Piazon-------- than against Arsenal this lineup with the exception of Ramires will be super fresh. ----------------Mikel------------------ ------Ramires------Lampard------- Mata--------------------------Hazard -----------Sturridge/Moses---------

I'm just happy here, every other Chelsea related forum(I'm even FM at one place), a vast majority keep defending him like some type of religion and he is their blonde deity. Here at least most people when presented with facts don't continue making excuses about him and seem to be more realistic. I swear if RvP didn't score in 24 hours I'd be having a laugh at MU's expense - they actually have had a midfield problem for quite some time yet their strikers hardly struggle on the same scale as Torres.
-
Sturridge not fit for this game?
-
Do you think that the service argument is going to cut it, every single team in the EPL had a striker with better games to goal ratio than Torres - do you think we are worse than 20 other teams in the EPL at creating chances? Even if that's the case you'd expect Torres to have a few more goals considering he is 7th best player in the World and you'd expect that a top striker won't have to depend entirely on his team mates for his goals. Bent - 0.4 goals per match Klasnic - 0.27 goals per match Bendtner - 0.25 goals per match Torres - 0.22 goals per match Franco Di Santo - 0.21 goals per match So pretty much he was only better than Wigan's top striker virtually any other team in the EPL had a better forward - those are the stats, talk about service is out of line to say the least. Even if we weren't that good at creating chances last year it would be really rich to say we are worse than all teams in the EPL other than Wigan.
-
Needs to start our next game on the right wing, hopefully plays around 60-70 minutes and is replaced by Marin(if he is finally fit); depending how he does we should consider him for Arsenal - he was MOTM when Wigan beat Arsenal last year.
-
Good result against Stoke, we left it very late but this is the one time that RdM didn't botch his substitutions Moses did well after coming on and we were able to give Hazard a bit of a rest. Oscar and Mata both did very well I though, weren't at all out muscled by the Stoke defense and were able to create a few chances for themselves and their team mates. I thought Mata was our best player, A.Cole a close second getting the ever crucial goal. I hope we see Moses; Sturridge; Cesar & Romeu against Wolves from the start and Bertrand as left back giving A.Cole a bit of a rest. Wouldn't be a bad time to name some youngsters to the bench as well. Top of the League is all that matters at this point.

Didier Drogba first 2 seasons: 82 matches 32 goals Fernando Torres thus far: 75 Matches 15 goals If Drogba was "BAD" in his first two seasons what exactly does that make Torres. Drogba didn't have the luxury of coming from the same League, knowing the language and knowing the defenders he would face. He had to adapt as much as any other player coming from a different league into the EPL. We expected Torres being used to the EPL not to have such a long "adaptation" period - well Torres is still adapting. Drogba by the end of his second season had became indisputable #1 beating Crespo in the process - while Torres was handed the automatic first 11 spot without actually doing anything to earn it.

Meanwhile: Lukaku scores for West Brom
-
Fixed it for you
-
Torres has been on the same level as Klasnic, Bent, Franco Di Santo and Bendtner - doubt defenders treat him any different than any of those players. It's like expecting our defenders to be treating Owen any different because he used to be a World Class striker years ago.
-
He is 7th best paid player in the World right now, it's going to be mighty tough to sell him anywhere for any kinda of money
-
Needs to play against Stoke no doubt
-
I think the whole situation is ridiculous: Danny Welbeck - 252 minutes played Javier Hernandez - 108 minutes played Wayne Rooney - 112 minutes played Robin Van Persie - 221 minutes played Lukas Podolski - 293 minutes played Theo Walcott - 110 minutes played Olivier Giroud - 221 minutes played Andrei Arshavin - 13 minutes played Luis Suarez - 360 minutes played Fabio Borini - 292 minutes played Andy Carroll - 18 minutes played Carlos Tévez - 331 minutes played Edin Dzeko - 195 minutes played Mario Balotelli - 169 minutes played Scott Sinclair - 87 minutes played Sergio Agüero - 14 minutes played Jermain Defoe - 339 minutes played Rafael Van der Vaart - 85 minutes played Emmanuel Adebayor - 60 minutes played Clint Dempsey - 12 minutes played We send Lukaku on Loan he is playing at West Brom Romelo Lukaku - 94 minutes played Shane Long - 252 minutes played Marc-Antoine Fortune - 235 minutes played Peter Odemwingie - 160 minutes played Our policy is just abysmal what happens if Torres is injured our other two forwards barely got 60 minutes combined on the field Fernando Torres - 351 minutes played Victor Moses - 32 minutes played Daniel Sturridge - 31 minutes played
-
I got that list from BBC, but I guess they could have gotten it from Forbes. Its obvious the real top players make most of their money from advertisement rather than wages Rooney - 44 appearances 35 goals RvP - 48 appearances 37 goals Agüero - 41 appearance 27 goals Adebayor - 37 appearance 18 goals Defoe - 38 appearance 17 goals Torres - 49 appearances 11 goals Andy Carroll - 47 appearance 9 goals Andy Carrollol is currently playing at his level at West Ham, Torres has been awarded an automatic first 11 position for the Champions League winners. Makes perfect sense. 2011 - 12 Premier League: Jelavic (Everton) - 16 appearances 11 goals Suarez (Liverpool) - 39 appearances 17 goals Dempsey (Fulham) - 46 appearance 23 goals Odemwingie (West Brom) - 30 appearances 11 goals Danny Graham (Swansea) - 39 appearances 14 goals Grant Holt ( Norwich City) - 38 appearances 17 goals Bendtner (Sunderland) - 31 appearances 8 goals Crouch ( Stoke City) - 40 appearances 14 goals Franco Di Santo ( Wigan) - 32 appearances 7 goals Darrent Bent (Aston Villa) - 25 appearances 10 goals Helguson ( QRP) - 34 appearances 13 goals Klasnic ( Bolton) - 29 appearances 8 goals Yakubu ( Blackburn) - 33 appearances 18 goals Steven Fletcher ( Wolves) - 34 appearances 12 goals It's a bit of a joke, but there you go I've pulled out the top scorer from the teams that finished below Newcasle and us. Torres made 49 appearances which is the most out of any of these players and outscored Klasnic, Bent, Franco Di Santo and Bendtner. We need a striker at a completely different level than Torres, in the mean time Sturridge should be given at least 2 matches in a row up front - see how he does.

Even Messi would struggle on a cold, rainy night at the Bridge against Stoke
-
Exactly Alex - don't care if we have a forward that just stands in one spot for 90 minutes if that forward gets us the winning goal with his only touch for the entire game. In the end football is a simple game - the team that scores the most goals wins the game. It's why Messi plays everywhere for Barca and why Ronaldo spends more time up top for Real than on the wing , it's why people like Inzaghi have a legendary career despite not being complete footballers - as long as these "forwards" remain effective at winning games for their clubs I don't think anyone in management will question them. If Huguin and Benzema don't score in 24 hours of football, I have very little doubt they would be dropped by Jose - even though Benzema adds a lot to Real's game other than scoring. It's like that in some clubs you have guys like Zlatan; Berbatov wonderful players even when they aren't scoring they provide a lot to their teams but SAF dropped Berbatov even though he was scoring - when he was playing last year. That might have been one of the things that didn't help with their goal difference as Hernandez and Welbeck were struggling to put the ball in the back of the net and they lost the title. When someone is scoring goals you don't drop em, you drop em when they stop scoring and bring em on as subs to prove themselves once again. Rooney is an automatic starter even though he suffers goal droughts but unlike Torres he is proven at MU, so they can afford to give him time to regain his goal scoring form. We have given 2 years to Torres and he isn't doing what we signed him for constantly enough. If Torres doesn't have 15 goals and at least 6 winners by 1st of January in all competitions he should be sold.

Since 2010 Sturridge has 20 goals from 66 games in the Premier League during the same time Torres has had 18 goals in 73 games. Last year these are the games each one scored in: Torres goals are against: QPR x 3(PREM); Barcelona(UCL); Aston Villa(PREM); Leicester x 2(FAC); Genk x 2(UCL); Swansea(PREM); MU(PREM); Sturridge goals are against: QPR(PREM); Aston Villa(PREM); B'ham(FA); Tottenham(PREM); Wigan(PREM); Newcastle(PREM); Wolves(PREM); Liverpool(PREM); Everton(CC); Everton(PREM); Bolton x 2(PREM); Sunderland(PREM) Those are the facts other than the "winner" against Barca, pretty much Torres is only scoring games in which we either loose or are comfortable winners. This season Torres has been better in terms of end product - but that's considering he is pretty much playing 90 minutes every single game.

Best paid players in the World: 1. Samuel Eto'o (Anzhi) 2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG) 3. Wayne Rooney (Man Utd) 4. Yaya Toure (Man City) 5. Sergio Aguero (Man City) 6. Didier Drogba (Shanghai) 7. Fernando Torres (Chelsea) 8. Dario Conca (Guangzhou) 9. Lionel Messi (Barcelona) 10. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Who is Dario Conca? Chinese are paying $12.5 million per year for some unknown player lol - makes me feel a bit better about the whole situation with Torres. At least we "though" he might be worth the money
