  1. xG explanation articles: https://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnation.com/2015/4/10/8381071/football-statistics-expected-goals-michael-caley-deadspin https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/30/expected-goals-big-football-data-leicester-city-norwich http://statsbomb.com/2013/08/goal-expectation-and-efficiency/ It's nothing to dismiss my man. A lot of the top clubs use these advanced statistics to measure the club's performances. Roman Abramovich is even cited as being a fan of these metrics, I believe Carlo Ancelotti mentioned it in an interview or his new book. The graphic is showing this: of all the strikers who have over 50 non-penalty-goals (NPG) over the past 3 seasons, if you took the number of goals they scored over that 3 year span and compared it to the number of expected goals (xG) they were supposed to score, you'll see which strikers outperformed their xG to the highest degree. So Griezmann scored 3.88 times more goals than he was expected to. It's highlighting who the better strikers are at scoring goals from shots that have low probabilities of going in. And to no surprise, Diego Costa is high on the list.
  2. Just read CFC want to sue him even more for still not reporting back to training... doubt that situation gets resolved anytime soon. But I hope he can help in some way until he leaves in January.
  3. I've seen the light, we're winning the league again. It's between us or United.
  4. Morata and Batshuayi are the only Strikers we got until January. Batshuayi really needs to make use of the limited chances he'll receive and earn Conte's trust. Don't want Morata being forced to play through injuries/fatigue because Conte doesn't want to play Batshuayi.
  5. This has been the LONGEST International break ever! FFS club football can't come back soon enough
  6. Would happily take him back, if Conte could swallow his pride. His importance cannot be stated enough. Such an ELITE finisher.
  7. Welcome Danny Drinkwater! Very happy this deal was completed. We have 4 legit CM options, and atleast we know the Drinkwater & Kante CM pairing is very suited to PL football.
  8. Chelsea chose Barkley over Mahrez. LOLOL
  9. It needs depth! One RWB attained. But another CM and LWB are needed. We're gonna be playing 180 mins a week bro.
  10. Here's some Zappacosta propaganda. Edit: here's his fullback radar.
  11. To achieve what exactly? Because clearly the goal is not to go far in the UCL and Win the PL. Not with this squad.
  12. It's all popping off now. People showing their true colors.
  13. @Reddish-Blue provided some useful resources, but will try and find more tomorrow. If your not familiar with xG, it's a metric that measures the likelihood that a shot your team has created will go in goal. xG-chain is a measure of how likely a team is to score a goal, when a specific player is involved in a move. AOC's xG chain is high, so whether he's dribbling, delivering the key pass, the "hockey pass", crossing or shooting, there is a greater liklihood that his involvement will lead to a goal. Here's is Data Radar. You can pretty much ignore the template to the right, because he only played 3 games as a CM, and they were against poverty sides. But wingback stats are very promising.
  14. Feel like the only person who doesn't rate Ross Barkley at all. Don't see the hype in him at all. And asking Conte to turn two English projects in Oxlade and Barkley is too much imo. Im my eyes, Chamberlain > Barkley every day of the week. But many advanced stats signal both players do very impressive stuff when on the ball. Oxlade's xG-chain is crazy high. and Barkley complete a high number of difficult passes in the final third. Interesting Stat on Barkley: Apparently Ross Barkley created the most goal-scoring chances of any U23 player across Europe.
  15. Wow, incredible business being done by liverpool if they can flip the Coutinho money into Keita and Lemar. That's fantastic. So surprised Chelsea have never shown interest in this kid. Has so much talent, and would fit the RF role like a glove. Bizarre.
  16. The only reason he'd choose Liverpool is because Klopp agrees to play him as a CM. That would be it, imo.
  17. Agreed. I know CM is the holy grail for UCL, but I just hope we get competent Wingbacks that can win their 1v1 duels and deliver accurate crosses. Let's see how the season progresses, and the business that's done in these final 8 days.
  18. Tbf, we already know that this Core group of players are not UCL savy. Only one success against a big-boy UCL team and that was PSG 2014. In '15 & '16 PSG were by far the superior team against us. I think we'll def escape the group. But once the knockout rounds begin, I fear for our midfield/wingbacks.
