  1. I like Emerson, I don't think he's the finished product yet and I believe he still has a lot of potential to improve. He's been steadily improving since recovering from that serious injury and with him now having finally nailed the starting spot, it's the first time since recovery that he's consistently getting consecutive games, so I expect him to continue improving as he plays more. Who knows, by the end of the season we might be talking about signing a backup left back instead of a replacement.
  2. Because they know they're guilty. Hiring Lampard and resorting to youth was a deflection tactic by them to minimize bad press, no way would they have gone down that route if they hadn't fucked up.
  3. I wonder how many more unfavourable results it will take for the media to start pushing the "it's Lampard's fault for not playing and alienating Willian" narrative. You just know it's coming if results don't improve.
  4. Why do we have two threads for European games? Just noticed [emoji848] Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk
  5. City getting a free pass. Group C Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb, Atalanta Ours is not bad as well, should top it. Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

  8. So we have then Zouma and Bakayoko in the same line-up, with a bit of passing problems ("a bit" being understatement of the year). You wanna handicap our offensive play entirely? Jorginho is good but not so good to do it all alone. Bakayoko losing possession instead of keeping possession would put our defence under a lot more pressure and we would concede a lot more goals. Keeping the ball efficiently is part of defending, not merely being big enough to outjump your opponents (and even that is suspect because his positioning is bad).
  9. Silva is also 25 and has been at City for 2 seasons, why are you randomly comparing those two?
  10. Baka is a destroyer alright. Destroyer of our game.
  11. True. He's clearly been instructed to keep it simple, he never tries anything adventurous and plays it safe. Which is the right thing to do considering his skillset, but ideally shouldn't be the CB type we aspire to make a starter. Rüdiger's passing and ball control are much better, so I hope he gets in shape quickly and benches Zouma. We could also use his experience and leadership.
  12. What makes you say that? Have we been fine with Kante?
  13. Yup, we would be right to scrutinize him like every other player who earns that much. No more Mr. Potential.
  14. We are becoming Arsenal also with our injury record now...
  15. They were entitled to it. CHO hasn't shown anything to justify wages of a world class/legendary player, like JT and FL were. Worst case he flops and we are stuck with another dud on huge wages that nobody wants to afford (I'm still not sold on CHO being the messiah he is made out to be by our fans).
  16. Is that Jamal Blackman on the right? Is he still with us? Isn't he like 40 already or smth.
  17. Pace to get away from defenders would be a good start.
  18. Personally I wouldn't want Giroud even as 2nd choice. 3rd choice okay for plan B,C(lump the ball!), but ideally our first two choices would be of similar characteristics, so we wouldn't need to change our approach drastically when one can't play. Giroud simply doesn't fit the style we're playing.
  19. I also don't think there is much chance that she is doing the identifying... her workload would be insane if that were the case. I think it's more likely that the head scout submits a list of recommendations to the board, put together with the head coach. Now Cech will most likely be in charge of that.
  20. Thought his shooting was dangerous too, had great power and could cut in to his left.
  21. Preach! Your best post in my eyes. I will not blame Frank for anything this season (unless he literally comes to training naked and foaming from mouth), enough blaming the managers, everybody will lose their shit with a toxic criminal mob incompetently running the workplace. I'd rather try this with RLC than Mount. He is strong enough to offer a long hold-up option, quick enough to make runs in behind and good enough technically to create for others and himself.
  22. Lampard is getting bent by us not having a proper striker. Giroud, Tammy and Bats are just horrible choices for any top 6 team, let alone one that is going to play Champions League. With a striker, we'd probably have won against Liverpool and got 3 points against Leicester. The team can create all they want, but if there is nobody to put shots away, it won't matter. If Tammy doesn't come good big time this season (and I doubt he will), our upmost priority has to be a striker.
  23. There are also other things that you can't really compare to football. Like for example a basketball game lasts only 40 minutes; you can make unlimited subs and no one plays a full game; you have a break between each quarter and many timeouts; requires less running. Also imo playing with feet and head is much more draining physically than with hands. When I played basketball I could easily last full games (with subs of course), but I'd probably die in a full football game.
  24. Cba to watch the whole thing. What minute is his goal?
  25. Lamps probably isn't eager to keep an unhappy player and would rather invest more energy into Tomori, who definitely isn't going on loan now if this happens. On one side it's lol that arsenal are looking at Luiz to strengthen their defence, but the sad part is that he actually would, he is better than anything they've got. I was pissed when I first read about this, but thinking about it we will have plenty of options - Rüdiger, Zouma, AC, Tomori, Reece. All have sick potential, everybody will need to compete and no-one will feel entitled to an automatic starting place (bar maybe Rüdiger, but he will have to fight for it like everybody else after the injury). Luiz is past it and a defensive liability. His passing is not a necessity, most teams don't have anybody nearly as good as him in that regard, this can be worked around with different approaches. Personally I would like to see now Rüdiger Christensen partnership, who complement each other quite well, have nose for defending and are comfortable on the ball. Zouma is crude on the ball and Tomori inexperienced, I don't think as a whole package they are better than those two. I'm really hoping to see AC now grab this chance and take that leap forward in his career, would justifiably reward his patience.
