Oh, don’t get me wrong. They have to spend a fuck ton of cash to buy all their players but their success rate makes our look terrible. They have a couple here and there that don’t pan out but for the most part they turn into stars. Meanwhile, it feels like we hit on 1 in every 5 signings we make. We seriously haven’t got lucky with any of our biggest buys and that’s insane. Torres, Lukaku, Kepa, Werner. Even Havertz hasn’t lived up to his price tag yet. City buy Ederson for £50m and he becomes the best keeper in the world. They buy Dias for £60m and he becomes world class. They buy Walker for £50m and he becomes world class. De Bruyne the same. Mahrez the same. Cancelo the same. Rodri the same. And on and on… Pretty much every expensive signing they make lives up to the billing. And the ones that fail to don’t hamstring them like they do here.

As I’ve said before, City’s attack is already ridiculous so it’s hard to feel really scared about them adding Haaland. They already score more than anyone. Him going there is better than Liverpool or United getting him and genuinely taking them up a huge level. Still, it’s extremely embarrassing how much better run City are than us. Their recruitment makes our look amateurish.

While I would be a bit weary about a player like Nkunku coming from Leipzig after we bought Werner, they’re a totally different profile of player. Whereas Timo is basically a one trick pony (just try to beat defender with raw pace) Nkunku is extremely gifted with the ball and can slice through defenses in many different ways. He really reminds me of Wilf Zaha on the ball. His running style, his dribbling style, and how he can dance through an entire team with the ball at his feet. He’s Zaha but with extraordinary end product. Would be a great signing for any PL club. Honestly, we should be glad that Liverpool just bought Diaz because Nkunku is the prototypical Klopp attacker and he’d be unstoppable there just like their other forwards.

I don’t think we’d take Maguire on a free if United drove him to the Bridge themselves.
-
Possibly. We’d have such a narrow forward line with he, Havertz, and Mount who is always going to start. We’d be depending solely on the wingbacks for width. Which is fine assuming RJ and Chilly stay fit all season but as we’ve seen that’s highly unlikely.
-
Think Jesus would be a great option to have in the squad here just like he was at City. But that’s also probably why he wouldn’t choose us over Arse. He walks right into the first XI there and gets to be the main man for the first time in his PL career. Sterling is tricky. In form he’s amazing but he’s so hot and cold.
-
Should we be looking at some of the City players that could leave? Arse are being linked with both Jesus and Sterling. Both could be useful here, no?
-
Richarlison is quite possibly the player I despise most in all of football along with Bruno Fernandes. If we ever signed him I don’t know what I’d do… 🤢🤢🤢

Yes, projects. And that’s not about age. Both are still raw and are playing in a farmers league whereas Rice has been a PL regular for a while now. He is essentially the finished product already. And for me Premier League proven absolutely matters for certain positions on the pitch. It’s particularly beneficial for a midfielder. It is not a 100% guarantee of success in every case but Rice for me is as close to that as possible. Unlike Grealish who was PL proven and cost £100m, Rice won’t have nearly the same sort of burden on his shoulders. Grealish has the constant pressure of having to score and create. Rice just has to continue to do the simple things he is doing now. Screen the defense, break up play brilliantly, and carry the ball forward from deep when necessary. Having been in the league for years Rice will know exactly how to handle it.
-
Both of them are projects, though. They are super talents, yes, but still need time to grow. Rice is already top class. And most importantly he wouldn’t need any time at all to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. Rice is literally a guy you can plug in and forget about and he hits the ground running with ease. The other two could take months to acclimate like we saw with Havertz, Werner, Ziyech etc. And the latter two still never adjusted. We need to have a summer where we go after players who we know will be “safe.”
-
Honestly, I’d do that deal at this moment. He’s very young, he’s English, supports the club, and will give 100% to fight for the shirt. He would lock down a place in a key area of the team for a decade. Yes, £100m sounds crazy on its face, but we desperately need a refresh in midfield. Kante and Jorginho need to be phased out if not sold. If you get even 5 years of world class DM play that £100m is worth it. I would try to sell Jorginho to Juve for 25-30m and go all out for Rice. We simply cannot allow him to go to United. He would totally transform their midfield just as he would ours and he would haunt us for 10 years. They’ll be losing Pogba and Matic so they’ll be going all out for Rice I think.
-
He sees what we all see. A bunch of jokers who just don’t care as much as he and the supporters do. Most of them totally checked out after that demoralizing CL exit. The majority of our defense has their heads in Spain. Tuchel sees positive things in training, sounds positive in his pre-match pressers, and then when the games come our players don’t follow through.
-
Leeds are a side that could concede 5 to Arse tomorrow and then summon something from nowhere and beat us. That’s Charity FC for you.
-
We better hope like hell that Kante is back and ready for these last few PL matches. He hasn’t been fantastic this season but he can still make a huge difference. Because if we are forced to have RLC in midfield we’re going to face the same thing we did today. Opposition running through our midfield players like they’re training cones. Leeds and Leicester are counter attacking specialists, too. Think about what that chaotic, high tempo Leeds side that are desperate will do to us. Or Vardy on the break against Azpi, Alonso etc. We need some help from Liverpool now and we need a draw in the NLD. Because I think we’ll pick up 1 point from the remaining 9.
-
So we have Leeds who are desperately fighting to stay up, Leicester with zero to play for and who always give us a tough game, and Watford who are already down and will want to play for their fans one last time in the PL. With the form we’ve been in we may need another miracle on the last day just like last season. Our players have totally given up.
-
The one time we actually want Liverpool to win they’ll choke and lose. And with Son and Kane in form they very well could lose.
-
Nevermind 3rd, we are in serious danger of finishing 5th. That is one of the most disgusting results of the season. Up 2-0 and meltdown like schoolboys.
-
This is embarrassing now. How fucking soft are these players? Mentally shattered. At 2-0 we were totally dominating and Wolves looked to have given up. Now bang, they are totally dominating us.
-
Kova missing that point blank chance may have fucked us.
-
And there it fucking is. Panic time now.
-
We’d have surely been punished 2-3 times this match if we were playing one of the big boys. Getting carved open easily again and again. Massive hole at DM in this squad.
-
The real Rom has been awoken.
-
When we have two CM’s in Kova and RLC who are ball carrying #8’s this is what happens. Neither are providing any screen for the defense which then gets exposed on every counter. Perhaps if Saul had been given minutes over recent months he’d be useful. 😒 But for some reason after his promising couple of matches a while back he hasn’t been seen since. If at all possible this summer we 100% need to try for Rice or Tchouameni. Kante and J5 can no longer be depended on to both stay fit or maintain their top level over a whole season.
-
We look like we could concede every time Wolves attack on the break. We’ve been extremely lucky their composure is even worse than ours is.
-
How. Many. Times. are we going to play that stupid floated ball up to Lukaku with ZERO success before we realize it’s not going to work? We’ve played it like 10 times so far and Wolves have 2 CB’s marking him to easily sniff it out.
