  1. Apart from Kepa our signing's have been largely good since 2018 (i'm convinced all our 2020 signings will come good), even Higuain served a purpose, although admittedly that would take a hit if Lukaku returns. Not only that Conte himself has largely stuck to a similar profile of signings at Inter which included trying to reunite with two of our singing's from that year. Conte has been known to be pretty sketchy in the market, United fans still joke about him being a key part of their rebuild by taking Young and Alexis (both of whom he also wanted here) off their hands. Do i think Conte was the only guilty party for that season? No but i also don't buy him being an innocent bystander either.
  2. And it will substantially weaken us in big games and probably see to a UCL defense unless Tuchel has the balls to drop him.
  3. It would be the other way round, he'll find a way to score against the fodder but he'll disappear out of sight vs anyone half decent.
  4. There's more than 2 strikers in the world, infact i'd think we would be a lot better off with Havertz up front.
  5. And this is exactly why i have been screaming from the rooftop for weeks now to wait it out if we can't find the right fit.
  6. I could maybe have been strong armed into seeing the positive side of this if he didn't have an ego the size of Russia. I fear at one point it will become painfully clear we are a better team with Havertz at false 9 and we will either keep playing Rom despite the detriment to the team or drop him which will be a nightmare for dressing room morale given his track record of wanting the silver spoon, not sure which would be worse.
  7. Well then on the same basis, isn't Sancho being successful also a potential or what if? And *if* he's not, then they haven't strengthened atall in attack.
  8. So Sancho "has the potential " to be good but Havertz doesn't? Got it!
  9. And a large part of that was because Rashford naturally evolved from a 10 goal a season forward to a 20 goal a season one, why can't Havertz do the same? And i love how you're so closed minded about our Bundesliga signing's improving in the second season while at the same time assuming United's signing from the very same league will hit the ground running.
  10. Lampard extracted a top 4 finish with Kepa, Zouma, Alonso/Emerson, Willian and Tammy/Oli as regulars. Tuchel not only has huge upgrades in all those areas (including one of the worlds best keepers, one of the best CB's of this era, arguably the worlds best young CB assuming he arrives and one of the worlds best young players) not to mention a better version of Kante (arguably the worlds best midfield) and a more mature version of Mount. Surely it's not unreasonable to expect at the absolute minimum to avoid the same scramble we had with massively inferior players and a raw manager? The only mitigating circumstances would be a horrendous injury crisis or top 4 requiring late 70's points. I actually wanted Aguero for that role but i wouldn't be against Ings.
  11. Tbh i wouldn't hold not challenging for the title against Tuchel even if we signed Messi, Guardiola is practically a cheat code in league football. This squad even with no signing's however should be comfortable top 4 and if Tuchel fails where the manager we sacked for him succeded with a massively inferior squad, then questions will rightly be asked.
  12. You've destroyed your own argument mentioning Solskjaer, he had a terrible window last summer and still despite that finished 2nd. So if you think Tuchel will struggle for top 4 that must mean you think Solskjaer is a better coach, no?
  13. With Baka, he would have either ran Cesc or Kante to the ground (which he ended up doing once he finally gave up on him) or put Luiz there to prove a point. Conte was playing chicken the entire season to the point he borderline started throwing games and we're suppose to believe he would have persisted with a player barely doing the basics right had he been signed against his will? It just doesn't add up, in reality he would have exhausted literally every option possible before turning to him. With Morata, false 9 until Oli arrived.
  14. Then Tuchel would be worse than Lampard domestically.
  15. https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool-fans-handed-transfer-warning-by-maguire-amid-klopp-reveal/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR2d2Y_uiwK5A9SMJuSOZneonrpFor1XcDoQ5KvXNY7wIQZkYNbSVnCMuSs#Echobox=1627840179 I remember when people tries to argue with me that FSG were amazing owners, lol.
  16. I would say Mount could very much evolve into a double figures scorer, he got 6 goals in half a season for Tuchel (which for context in itself matches Gundogan's best tally outside of last season).
  17. Said goalscoring wingers Sterling and Mahrez got 6 and 7 goals respectively in their respective first seasons at City. So pretty much the same type of numbers as our players first season tallys (without even half the type of obstacles ours faced). So if they can naturally evolve as players, why can't ours?
  18. I really feel people are underestimating just how good Kai can turn out in the 9 position. Not just in terms of his own level but how compatible him there is with a successful style of play. False 9 is becoming more and more successful in this day in age. City winning the league with one, Liverpool CL then league with one, us CL...
  19. Yep, ditching an incredibly promising system for Lukaku of all players would kill the good feeling I have for this season instantly. Really hope Inter stay strong.
  20. If Conte didn't want them then why did he give them chance after chance? (He demonstrated with Michy that he had no qualms ignoring genuine board signings), Infact why did he look at reuniting with a couple of them at Inter?
  21. If Kane was banking on a gentleman's agreement from Levy then he only has himself to blame. The latter's lack of integrity has been an open secret since the Modric saga.
  22. I am quite clearly in a minority but i actually really love the potential of this squad with Kai as a false 9 so if we're going to rip that up it has to be someone truly worth it.
  23. I wonder why that is, maybe Livra still wants to make it here whereas Bate is indifferent?
  24. Last time i checked they haven't yet signed anyone either. Typical grass is greener bollox.
