Assuming Schurrle's £20m initial fee is true, we have now raked in more than £150m in transfer fees ... in just 3 windows since 01/01/14!!! Mata £37m, De Bruyne £17m, Luiz £50m, Lukaku £28m, Ba £5m, Schurrle £20m. 3 of those 6 deals are worth more than our previous record transfer income (Robben £24m). Bear in mind these all were either unwanted or wantaway at the time. We've essentially bought ourselves the best part of a new spine (Matic, Cesc, DC) by selling our fringe players. I don't know about you all but personally I'm happier with Salah leaving than Schurrle.

If his wages are around the ~65k p/w mark, we won't suffer any extra FFP hit over Schurrle's current £7.9m (assuming it is Schurrle who's leaving). Going by our excellent financial track record with recent squad role signings though, I'd wager he'll make much below that.

Eh I don't know, he's actually anticipating the shot to be on his right and is going down that way before readjusting himself brilliantly and flinging the boot out. Besides, it's not as central as you think although the height is simpler to deal with.

Is 'activating' the release clause the same as paying the clause amount or does it further attract additional taxes on top? I know that paying the release clause for someone registered in Spain will also obligate you to an additional 40% tax ... what's the case in Italy?
