The Sun claims that Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien could be marooned on the sidelines for the remainder of the season after a major complication in his recovery from a knee injury. Essien has been out of action since damaging his medial ligaments while training with the Ghana squad ahead of January's Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Angola. The former Olympique Lyonnais star is currently in France undergoing rehabilitation with Ashley Cole, and Blues assistant boss Ray Wilkins reported earlier this week that both players were progressing well. However, an unnamed source is quoted as saying: "The news on Michael's not good. We all thought he'd be back playing again in four to six weeks. "The second leg of the Champions League match with Inter Milan was talked about as the ideal comeback game. "But he has no chance of making that now. We're not even sure he'll play again this season. If he does it won't be any time soon." yes... all of that is completely true but thats not my point ...... let me rephrase ..... what i meant was unless drogba or lampard comes with a moment of brilliance i dont feel we can make any danger on opponents ...... so when kalou or joe cole or malouda or even anelka have the ball in thier feet in one on one situations with any defender the advantage is always to that defender ...... when the ball drops perfectly in front of ballack or mikel even from 18 or 19 yards distance they never looked like scoring ..... when the team is starting a counter attack and the ball is not in lampards feet to put the killer pass or the long ball no one does .... that was my point .... still think that's normal .......?????????????

Joe Cole didn't play against inter ............ and i don't think we can just keep waiting for a good flick or a good pass every now and then to say he is coming back to his form because obviously he is not

lately ... ohh i am sorry not just lately it has been a while now since i remembered that anyone else can show up and score goals other tha lampard and drogba ..... i can definitely say that more than 90% of our goals are by drogba and lampard efforts ......its either an assist from lampard or a goal from didier or a goal from frank or an assist from drogba ...... is that a normal thing ??????????? ...... cause i think its not ...... so correct if i am wrong its definetly a bad thing for the team and its even worse when both of mentioned players are over 31 years old and cannot come every match and do the extra work for the team as rooney does for man u because he is 24 not 31 or 33 ..... even anelka recently has been very very ordinary and never looked like scoring ..... so whyyyy is that and how can we solve that problem ......

a lot of people keep saying that carvahlo is not any good anymore but i still think he is not doing a bad job and i even like him to pair with terry than alex or ivanovic ...... i know most of you will disagree but thats my opinion .... all who came here and left their thoughts agreed that we need to get rid of 8 or 9 players mainly they are (hilario-turnbull -carvahlo(i disagree)-belleti - feriera - ballack - deco -j.cole - kalou - malouda) and then promote or get in (kakuta - matic - borini - bruma - stoch - cork - ribery - aguero ) as much as i hope that really happens but lets face it ..... it wont ... because that will be enormous change in the team which i dont think people in Chelsea are ready to do ..... so do we have to get our head to the fact that we are stuck with those old useless players till they retire ????????? our results lately showed how desperately we need to make changes but do you think ancelotti noticed that or its true that he still thinks we just an off match as he said and that all the players will be back on form very soon and that its good enough for him that we are top of the league even though we are so far from being a good team ...... so keeping all that in mind who do you think will actually leave and who will actually come or get promoted and start getting chances in first team ... ????? and this time i am not asking who do you think should leave or hope they leave .... i am saying that massive changes we all have been recommending will never take place so pick some logical changes this time ......

i will have to disagree with those who say that this is because the competition is stronger and because teams like astonvilla and mancity have improved ........ yes they did improve but what about wigan everton home hull city portsmouth i dont think those have improved at all ....... let us be honest if united didnt lose ronaldo and tevez the league will be definitly a finished article by now .... the ugly truth is we suck .... united suck more .... arsenal more and more .... liverpool more and more and more ........... against man city in the 1st half we were the better side and how did we concede i just cant figure it out ...... mikel terry carvalho and hilario vs tevez and still he managed to put the ball in the net ......but that wasnt the problem because thats not the 1st or the 2nd time we concede a goal through some stupid mistakes just after we score and then lose our control and of course then lose the match .... it happened against astonvilla.... mancity twice.... everton three times in our home even against inter ...... we should know that keeping possesion like we do without scoring is very dangourus if you are not planning on scoring i would ahppily go and sitback like we used to do with mourinho and let the teams come to us and then we wll be the one who punish the through counter attacks .... afterall my main point is in a lot of situations we didnt lose to a betterside we lost because we were the worse side ............

couldn't agree with you more ...... i remember when i first said that a lot were making fun of me ...... also i would like to highlight how much a player with real skill like ribery will be vital for Chelsea as he will give drogba more freedom as teams right now know he and lampard are our only threat .......he wll give Chelsea real pace specially on the counterattack also he would be a very good option for our midfield to pass the ball to in hard times ... lampard can put players like ribery and aguero using thier pace to 1 on 1 situations with goalkeepers a lot ..... also we need someone who knows how to move with the ball when other opponents are just parking the bus and when we have possesion ...... that will be someone who gives us the edge in big matches when we are better but still we lose ..... i cant imagine losing to inter or man city if w had someone like that in the team...... finally please please please give kakuta and matic thier chances the will do better than a lot of our first team options like kalou joecole and ballack i definitly know that .....

off course essien has been a massive loss cant wait for him to be back last i heard it was 27 Feb. ..... but may be we wouldnt have been missing essien and joe so much if we had our other options fit the problem is that now we have cech essien bosingwa a.cole yuri zhirkov and deco all injured also belleti and alex are still not match fit after coming from a little long injury so actually we don't have a lot of options right now

i agree with you there except that j.cole can never get a starting place with his current form ... malouda has been the best in that place in our squad so far...... although i think he should do better but he is the best of what we have also anelka seems to be very ordinary when not playing as a striker in the diamond formation .... in my opinion thats what ancelotti have to work on its our wingers/playmakers .....hope that will be fixed

well carlo has a lot of problems to deal with before this match as we all know we wont have the best circumstances before that one so he have to find a way to get the best out of the available players ........ man city won't be easy at all they are very underestimated they have a great team but their only problem is that they don't have enough motivation for small games but playing Chelsea will give them a lot of motivation and will get em all worked up as we have all seen in December specially Wayne bridge ...

i really like the Christmas tree plan but there is some flair missing when we play with it so how do you think we should play??? a diamond or a Christmas tree or a standard 4-3-3 ...... for me i prefer a christmas tree and our 5 midfielders will be mikel essien lampard malouda and (kalou or joe cole or sturridge or anelka) i really like anelka as a striker but in this formation he looks lost on the pitch and he is not at the right place as usual that's why i would try other options..... also ballack yesterday was very slow and in the second half was very bad i know he has great technical qualities and helps the team a lot but i would absolutely choose essien and mikel before him for two reasons : 1- from what i saw yesterday mikel really impressed me and showed that he is improving a lot on the ball .... that gives ancelotti the chance to give essien a little more complicated role helping forward and i don't think with essien's physical qualities he will have any kind of problem coming back fast and helping our defense as well so that gives us a solid midfield defensively having both mikel and essien playing 2- that will give lampard a more attacking role so he wont have to rush back every counter attack because ballack cant do it .... but off course i would like to see ballack starting every now and then also he will make a very good impact sub if we are up 1 or 2 -0 and we need to take more control over the midfield and control the tempo .......... that's my opinion ...... what's yours ??????????

after milito scored we dominated in every single aspect of the game but kalou was very selfish in the first half and wasted a lot of opportunities to make a good pass for his team mates ... but to be honest after the break we didnt do much i think ballack lost his legs and that helped them get into the match and start taking more control over the midfield.... keeping in mind that we were playing without a lot of our preferred options(a.cole - yuri -essien - belleti -fereira - alex -therefore playing malouda as lb and kalou lw ) we did a very good job may be we deserved a better result but we still have a very good possibility to qualify for the next round .... judging from what i ve seen today inter's defence is not solid by all means and if essien is back we all know when he is playing we can dominate any midfield but the main problem that keeps hitting me is simply that when drogba is not at his best no one else can step up and get the goals even kalou's goal cesar could have done better with that one i hope this problem will be fixed ASAP ..... and lets just hope in the 2nd leg the uefa will give us a refree that knows WHAT A FUCKIN PENALTY IS ..........

yes i have read that somewhere ..... some are saying that malouda will be played as a LB as belleti is injured feriera is not availabla for uefa a.cole bosignwa and zhirkov all are injured as well ,,, talk about bad luck .... but i hope Alex would be available and i hope he plays as a lb i think hell be more solid defensively

who do you think will be inter's top threat and who will be thier weakest player ..... who will be our hero on wednesday and who are you a little afraid of ....... how much do you think mourinho is capable of turning the game into his own way .... for me their main threat is snieder / milito and julio cesar has been unbeleivable so far and weakest player will be their midfield .... i think it is very important to have lampard on form because inter conceded a lot throuh long shots and critical passes from midfield and who does that better than lamps xD .... and i am a little afraid zhirkov didnt hit top form yet and he wont be able to handle maicon ... we all know how mourinho is good at analyzing the weakness and strenght points of opponents and if anyone knows Chelsea better than ancelotti that will be mourinho he knows how drogba uses his body and when lampard cut into the box .... its not gonna be as easy as you all think i still remember how mourinho used to get a result even when he wasn't the better team ....

that's why we drew with west ham which should ve been one of the easiest matches with their form back then .... and why we drew to hull and to Portsmouth .... why we lost to wigan .... why everton came back 3 times in Stamford bridge..... i think i think our strongest possible eleven played all of those matches and still we didn't get the expected result not because of the opponents strength but because we didn't play well just like today we didn't play well at all ..... it could have been another hull or Portsmouth and i know it but that would ve been because the big players even drogba wasn't at his best he just scored two easy goals from stupid mistakes from wolves defense ......

yes they did hit us a few times but when you watch the replay you can easily see that in both situations the defenders were not doing their best to get and clear the ball for me it looked as if they were saving their efforts which is something good ..... malouda wasnt going back to help in defence as usual... joe cole as well and of course anelka ... dont tell me they were causing us problems we were causing ourselves problems and btw in these kind of matches when you are up 1-0 or 2-0 i always think that our big experienced players are cocky not the youngsters who should ve came in ......

i would recommend that you watch the match 1st before coming here and writing that shit ......... the experienced players were nearly standing all match some players didnt run more than 6 kilometers like anelka ...... while wolves were completely unable to do anythong except for those 2 chances which happened to be because of our players who didn't wanna move to save thier efforts.... that was cocky and we could ve paid for that if it wasnt for peter cech .... and if you wont give em chances in those matches when are you planning to do so ..... btw if stoch was not on loan i would ve asked for him to start fighting for a place in the starting eleven and i hope that happens next year ....

OK , i think tonight was a perfect day to play matic kakuta and sturridge or borini ....... we were up 1-0 and after that even 2-0 ..........most of our players looked like saving their energy to Wednesday and were obvoisly just trying to avoid injury or exhaustion .... i still cant find a reason why ancelotti didn't throw in some fresh young legs ...

no we dont .... according to your statistics we have played one more match than both teams .....
