I think, more than the board, it was jose who was responsible for that. He had a plan, he knew EXACTLY what he wanted and "luckily" all of these players were available. With no European competition, no Manager, a squad which is likely to lose its "best" players (according to FIFA ratings), I think, we are simply going to be plugging holes all through the transfer window. Lets just hope we look to the youth to plug some of those holes instead of the mercenaries that we love to buy.

Mate, he got a total of 310 minutes spread over 12 appearances. Thats an average of 26 minutes per apperances. In a team where he was transfered in the Jan window, a league which is considered to be the toughest to play in. As for the "system", lets be honest here, we have been shit for 1 and a half years now. Since last Jan. Our only "system" was to pass the ball to hazard and hope and pray to god that he can get us the goal/assist. Juan played 10 minutes against villa (2-1 win), 7 minutes against soton (1-1 draw), 27 minutes against stoke (2-1 win), 10 inutes against QPR (1-0 win), 2 minutes against arsenal (0-0 draw), 3 minutes against leicester (3-1 win). I can bet everything I have on the fact that Juan's main job coming in as a sub in all of these games was to "protect the lead and provide cover for the full back". I love jose, but its not juan, salah, moses, kdb, mata and "everybody elses" fault that they cant succeed in jose's no rotation, park the bus policy. Yes, Juan was poor when he got his chances like against everton and burnley, but forgive me if i cant make an assumption of a player's calibre with 2/3 non-dead rubber starts for a club he got transferred to in January, barely got any gametime and a club that deployed defensive tactics to simply get "over the line".

The area where we need the most investment is MIDFIELD. we need atleast 2 world class midfielders. Remember when we had the options of makelele, essien, lampard, ballack and thene came the likes of mikel. Today we have mikel as our starting DM, along with a i-can-only-play-for-half-a-season cesc, dont-know-what-we-are-going-to-get Matic, and a 20 year old RLC. Barca have busquets, iniesta, rakitic, turan along with the highly promising roberto, Bayern have alonso, vidal, alcantara, martinez, rode, even united boasts of big names like schweini, schneiderlein, carrick, herrera. Our depth in CM department is not only shocking but indicative of our current position in the PL table.

He is definitely an upgrade on both the players. Oscar should not even be a question. Pedro on the other hand, has been awful all season long unless you count his performance against newcastle. If we are not considering players because of youth players like kenedy, musonda, boga then, we should be eliminating oscar and pedro first and foremost. As for my choice, I would sell all of them. Pedro, oscar, Juan, marin and get a proper no.10 like james/isco with moses, kenedy and musonda as back ups. My only qualm is tht if we are eliminating juan, the same rules must apply to the players who are responsible to this disaster of a season.

Fair enough. But I still stand on my point. Pedro got his chance and showed that he is not good enough for us. Dont know why people are so willing to give pedro a season of being awful and still want him here while want cuadrado gone after 300 minutes of football spread over 12 games.

My sentiments exact, mate. Both Pros and Cons of Europa hold a lot of merit. But I am for Europa only because of the young players we have. If we get Europa, I hope Roman treats it as a building field for youth like Traore, Kenedy, RLC, Baba, Musonda, Ake rather than forcing Conte to play deadwood like mikel, oscar, Cahill in the competition.

We are again going to go round in circles. Mikel is a starter only because Matic has had an absolutely AWFUL season. currently, matic has lost his confidence and I would play mikel ahead of him. Hazard is one of the best players in the world, forget about chelsea football club. But currently, if i had an option of filling one winger spot with either hazard/willian, i would choose willian. Meanwhile oscar is a starter. He has played 1617 minutes of football this season in PL where we are mid table. Mikl has played 1168 and I dont know the exact minutes but i can guarantee that 80% of these would be under hiddink where we are yet undefeated. So yes, a lot of us think that replacing oscar with isco/payet would make us 10 times better. We would get a proper link between attack and defence, more chances created, more goals scored, more ball retention, more possession. I do agree that we needed changes. Oscar, mikel, Cahill and iva should not be here next season. Oscar would be the first one out of here. People still think that he is a good player and he has a market value hundred times his actual worth. He is exactly the type of player we should sell and rebuild using that money.

Fair enough if this happen, but just because a couple of internet warriors wanted a team of U-21s to play, does not mean that should stop the current manager to do the "right" thing. Why is not RLC playing ahead of oscar? Why is not Baba playing? Remy has been said to be leaving us for 2 windows and I am quite certain that he surely will leave now, why not start with traore. This is not a knockout competition, we are not in a position where we would lose something even if these 4 perform poorly like baba did against soton. We literally have nothing to lose. and infact playing RLC over oscar would make us better imo. So why not give these kids the oppurtunity? Why just start with the best FIFA rated players?

As for oscar, why is he here. Why are not we playing RLC before him. Do we currently have a better DM than mikel? NO. But we sure as hell do have a hell lot of options worth taking a shot at the CAM psoition. Hence the disgruntlement with the consistent shitness of oscar.
