  1. We say abortion on request not on demand. A medical committee should decide - just like when I broke my arm and a medical committee was called upon to opine how bad it was in order to be excused from work. There are circumstances in which it can be allowed. There are also some ultras who don't want to allow it even if it is diagnosed that the child cannot survive.
  2. Donald Trump says he's equally Greek as Giannis Antetokoumpo https://basketnews.com/news-214082-donald-trump-says-hes-equally-greek-as-giannis-antetokounmpo.html Giannis Antetokoumpo is a famous basket ball player playing in the NBA and the national team of Greece. He is Greek, born in Athens, been to the army, but he is black - his parents were Nigerian then naturalized. There is an old racist taunt about him that he is not Greek - because of his colour. Various crazy or half crazy extremist racist individuals repeat that from time to time in Greek tv programs, on the internet. But it's not some kind of big international controversy. Now Trump decided to pick on him saying "he 's a great player but he is as Greek as I am !". Barack Obama called him to order. It's strange. Obviously his advisers asked him to say that. Are there Greek-Americans of this kind of ideology he wants to attract ? Most Greek-Americans I know are dems but I have also met one or two Trumpies.
  3. I read somewhere -I 'm not sure it is true- that Robespierre when asked about the reign of terror he said "what are you talking about ? I 'm the one who stopped it !". He said that the terror committee planned some 70,000 beheadings and he managed to stop about half of them. I doubt this was said in the day of the famous events in the national convention, which ended with his beheading as he did n't have time. If he actually said that it must have been to his friend Saint Juste or to somebody else the days before. This kind of thing is usual though. In 1979 when Margaret Thatched was elected the rank and file expected her to arrest all the Indians and Pakistanis and send them away in a boat. She did n't do it. Always the rank and file wants to see more heads rolling on the floor than the leadership. What you say is therefore possible but I doubt it. I believe Trump will be inviting some new sexy starlets to the White House and he won't be bothering about these things. However I regard him as the Pepe Grillo of American politics. He should be polling 19%, not 47-48%. But the dems have identified themselves with wokism and they have no business to do that, elevating him to prominence.
  4. Trump cannot deport 15 million. Even if he has the legal basis to do that he can't. It's hot air. It would be an operation beyond Stalin and Mao. The supporters won't like.
  5. I have noticed two things. Madueke and his Arse counterpart Saka become tired after 60 minutes or so. Mudryk on the left also, the last twenty-thirty minutes against Newcastle for the Carabao. The wingers don't last 90 minutes.
  6. I did n't see any of it. I had to go to a silly honey exhibition. We fluffed again I see.
  7. You can't communicate - later you don't remember The first thing I remember is being taken down a stairway. The bannister was black, the walls were blue. Must be the first memory. Could have been the maternity hospital of Heraklion-Crete. But has been demolished and there are modern buildings now, so I can't go there and check. So before the staircase you say, just because I could not communicate I was not alive but an inanimate object. This is rubbish.
  8. How the blazes do yu know there is no life in the foetus ? So the womb contains batteries to be activated later ! (that might be a religious stance)
  9. Human life is from the point of inception. Sometimes we agree to mercy killing if there are over riding medical circumstances. LBGTQ exhibitionism is disliked by everybody.
  10. New Tory leader, a right winger as well they say (what does it mean right winger in Tory terms ?). I wonder what sort of people those are, to side with a party that was calling them "rivers of blood".
  11. Arsenal annihilated. City annihilated - Haaland has become an "uncle George".
  12. Abortion is not human right, to have another human killed. Only under specific medical conditions. Exhibitionism is also not human right. That's what most people believe, including liberals who do not go over to Trump. So all this favours Trump / other entities like him in other places.
  13. Strangely enough the party of civil rights in the USA used to be the republicans. They did have some crazies in their ranks like Barry but the dems also had some similar. In world war I democrat Woodrow Wilson was the president. He proposed a kind of Marshal plan for Europe that would have changed things and prevent the second world war that the Anglo-French rejected. But back at home he was a dyed in the wool racist. Things changed with JFK and the democrats became the party of civlil rights. The much jeered LBJ was also a champion of civil rights. Now the dems have placed themselves inside a vicious circle however. By championing LBGTQism and free abortions they have made many enemies, more enemies than they cared to have. So it's one of the reasons we have Trumpism now. One would n't expect Trump to do much better than Barry Goldwater back in 1964. Initially we thought of him as some new peculiarity, like Pepe Grillo or the monster raving loony party. But he 's going to be the next president.
  14. Only good thing is he has double barelled surname, like William Rees Mogg. Adds prestige.
  15. POLLSTERS METHODS - SIMULATION ------------------------------------------- I ran computer simulations with random numbers and with conditions similar to those of the coming American election. The purpose was to measure the effectiveness of swing theory v. the simple method. My results show that for small-medium sample sizes the swing method is definitely better. But as the sample size increases the simple counting method tends to get better and even surpass the swing method in accuracy.
  16. He copied Annegrette Karrenbauer of CDU who was dressing herself as cleaning lady.
  17. The commies could have declared him one of theirs. But like Robespierre of the French revolution they did n't. The pope and the patriarchs declared themselves above the incorruptible and above Stalin and that was unacceptable.
  18. Christianity is certainly the most anti-Trump reliigion ever. Jesus Christ may have been a communist - even though communists hate him: If he is the son of God as we believe then he knows everything and he also knows about communism so he is Social Democrat like Gerhard Schroeder - Segolene Royal. If not then he was a misguided communist. The snipet "give unto Caesar" does n't prove anything, like the capitalists think it does. But whatever the case, a Christian supporter of Trump is an anomaly - these people will burn in hell and made into sish kebap. But here is the catch. Christians are against sex. Like I said before my head at school who was a devout orthodox believed fizzy orange drink was too sexy - he allowed only blue bottles. We of course did not follow. So this anti-sex lot have commandeered the situation and you see what you see.
  19. Depends how they lose the ball. Maresca system is to play it clever even when inside our box and even the goalie. It's run away from the opponent instead of marking him. So when we lose the ball it becomes dangerous. Granted goalkeepers nowadays have to have ball skills. It's been 33 years the back pass is not allowed, or 34. But Sanchez and the others are pressed to overdo it by Maresca.
  20. D' you know Zachariades recanted ? In the seventies he wanted to return to Greece and did n't mind even if they put him to trial. But the Soviets were holding him prisoner in Siberia, with two tanks outside his house continuously watching for years. In the end he hanged himself.
  21. Historian -war hero Chris Woodhouse disputes all this. The communists were not so popular in Greece. For the very early days after the liberation there are no opinion polls but he says there is no reason for the two major parties the conservative people's party and the liberals to have lost support - since neither of them was accused of being a quislig party and they were involved in the resistance, In elections held later the atmosphere was a Mc Carthy sort of atmosphere but nevertheless the results verify him. The communists were about 15% in all probability. But from October 1944 when Greece was liberated to December when the communists attempted the ir coup d' etat everybody liked the Soviet Union and Stalin - because of the Soviets were allies. It was the war time alliance and you could see Soviet flags in the balconies in Kolonaki district (also Holywood movies praising the USSR). Then the communists were armed whereas Greece had no army - just a few soldiers. There was the British contingent in Athens who finally held the communists but between commies - Greek army the analogy was 5 to 1 or 10 to 1. So to the commies this relative superiority in arms is the same as ... popular support. In 2015 during the economic crisis I don't know. The Syriza commies can claim they won - but now the red camp was split in two. Yet a little later the Syriza lot went to visit Trump and bowed to their knees infront of him. But the orthodox commies are not making any progress. They have strange ideas. They won't cooperate even with their Syriza cousins. They are afraid some unexpected revisionism will creep in. Back in the days they were dying for a popular front. But it was different. They reckonned a popular front will take Greece out of NATO into the neutralist camp. Then the Soviet tanks will move in -no problem. Then we catch the popular front dupes and execute them - simples. But now they hate popular front.
  22. Well, some may always fancy Tito. But here is Freud psychology at play again. The old man was 21 years old during Tito's time, he could go to Brijuni island and chase the beauties. So it was better and why not Tito as well ? The same with Papadopoulos for the Greeks, Salazar for the Portuguese.
  23. By "state" you mean when change of government is not allowed. There are n't any such in Europe or North America at the moment. But I talked about parties that do exist. I did n't say states.
