  1. Ranieri's Leicester with Vardy seemed to be the diametrically opposite from what you describe. No possession at all even against weaker opponents, counterattacks only, long balls to find Vardy.
  2. But we did play against Leicester this year. What do you recall from that match ? They came back into the game because of the Disassi howler but you think they showed anything ?
  3. I 'm not against the idea of total domination and the passing ball. But to score goals it must be done in an intelligent way. Clever running off the ball is needed to create empty spaces. Otherwise we are to expect goals from 70 yards out, like Caicedo's last one, or it's back to Hutch years with the throw ins. Under Potter - Lamps - early on with Poch we were so predictable.
  4. Leicester finished neck and neck with Ipswich. Was Lecester a better team ?
  5. Was n't Nkunku supposed to be the clinical number 9 ? He was injured but do you thing this has died ?
  6. To attack vertically-quickly and with intent somebody has to create empty spaces. Or the opposition are in some desperate situation and all of them have moved into your half and you escape. Has to be a combination of passing ball and running off the ball to create those spaces. It goes without saying that if Maresca ball is a retrograde step to Lamps ball then it's useless.
  7. They are doing it effectively. When we had Lamps, before Tuchel, we were doing it terribly - endless passes without purpose then hit a brick wall. People were also accusing pool of the Keegan years of being typically British and shoot balls into the air - but the european cups were going to Enfield.
  8. Well, what happened was this: Early 2022-23 things were looking sh*t -with Tuchel- and forget the results in the easy CL qualification group. I don't know whose fault that was. Happened in 2015-16 and 2017-18 as well with Mou and Antonio respectively just after both Mou and Antonio had won the league. Sh*t situations happen - it's a law of football. Then Potter was disliked from day one by the fans who wanted Tuchel to stay and in any case he made things even sh*tt*er. Then Poch continued taking as further down the ladder, till March this year when his systems started to work. Because of that he would rather have stayed than go, I agree. It would be an experiment but are n't we back to square one now, experimenting ? Nevertheless I 'm not going to say it spells doom, unless the board with their antics have it in mind to weaken the team. This last worries me now and not Maresca really.
  9. This is a ... Mat Busby contract. Let's hope he makes it though !
  10. You are making a mistake because look at the budget Pep has as City manager, as well as the budgets he had as Barcelona manager. The same mistake some people make with horse racing jockeys. With horses the best jockeys have something like 20% strike rate, the so called mediocrities only 2%. But look at the horses the champions are given and the horses the others are given. If a rule was enacted to assign horses to jockeys at random the margins would close. Not 20% to 2% but 11% to 6%, something like that. So why is Maresca not the force to come ? Let's not criticize him at a time the players do not even train as well, because it's summer ! The gimmicks of the board is another matter altogether.
  11. Maybe we play Europa: https://www.givemesport.com/manchester-united-could-face-relegation-to-europa-conference-league/?link_source=ta_first_comment&taid=66547cd0faceea0001fe3b69&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR3h_RjjVHBmu6QcCGN3sWO4RV9j0WMecn0YejWMXv4EONiHpU38h3FK8wk_aem_AcYms30DwHB1g8WNlt4Hnv4IdCGT1OVJYtgV4JfutZ1Jf8sowKeo46siVVzwm25jGNx93r3a18TWjFi4m_jupAgL
  12. Possession football until the ... capital market commission steps in and goals every blue moon. What we need is the Real Madrid style of play. We need fast forward moves, running off the ball to find empty spaces - ideally with a more solid defense than we had recently to cover.
  13. We had no trouble winning the two europa cups we played. Only Benfica offered serious resistance in the first one, the final with Benitez. Then in 2019 we did some stupid things and we made the semi against German midgets Eintracht a dangerous affair, but other than that it was plain sailing. Now the conference league is a competition for little children. This year Aston Villa -before their collapse- was a good team for the conference league. The rest are below par. If FFP is somehow creating problems should we participate then we must stay out.
  14. It was n't up to him any longer. The main reason we are unhappy is because the sacking probably means the board have in mind to allow us to become weaker next season.
  15. City were a pain in the eye for 90 minutes. Their goal was an Onana gift. United too only twice managed to attack (1 goal each time !). It was a despicable affair and City did n't want to win. De Bruyne below par - substituted, Haaland was a lamppost.
  16. Conference league is against the likes of Agrotikos Asteras, Famalicao, Krasnodarsk. If we escape the FFP strictures by abstaining we should do that.
  17. Our two objectively worst managers, Potter and Lamps, defeated all Europa level opposition with ease. I 'd like us to compete just for the fun of it and the cash - but that trophy it's not something for us to celebrate.
  18. Neither United does and European fussball is easy -except champions league. Twice we played Europa, twice we won it against a modicum of opposition.
  19. If Poch team was playing today it would be 3-0 against City, 5-0 against manure.
  20. Was their best player, scored the goal. Haaland was a lamppost.
  21. Look, means nothing really for Pep. The match was fixed. How you legalize money for a fix ? Should n't be hard. Some phoney but legal transaction is cooked up and the money changes hand.
  22. Why is that idiot Pep not starting Doku ?
