  1. I think if we were going to do 4-1-4-1 then Jose would have implemented it with the players we already had, so that the team aren't changing system once the season has already started. That, essentially, is what pre-season is for.
  2. Take a look at trophy winners in England in the last 11 years (when Moyes took over) the list is predominantly poulated by the 6 biggest clubs in England (Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs & Liverpool) Only Birmingham, Swansea and Wigan outside those 6 clubs have won domestic trophies in the last 11 years. It's realy not that easy for the smaller clubs in England to win silverware. But like I said, the way he has transformed Everton's fortunes as a whole club proves that he is a very good manager.
  3. You can't seriously say that Moyes hasn't gotten to where he is on merit. He may never have won anything with Everton but given where the were before he got the job, he did a fantatic job in turning the club around on a relatively small budget. He's definitely not in the same league as Jose or SAF, but he is still a very good manager. To say otherwise is just silly.
  4. Probably because Jose sees Willian as a player that will improve our team. Willian fits into his system and philosophy therefore it's an astute signing. I don't see why people are still getting up in arms about us improving our team. Why do you want us to spend £60 million on 1 world class player when we can get 2 for the same price?
  5. That means nothing. Lee Wilkie started his career at Dundee but always supported Dundee United (where he finished his career) My best mate's cousin, Scott Robertson supports Dundee and left them in 2008 to sign for Dundee United. Add into the mix that Michael Owen is a life long Everton fan yet played for Liverpool. Another key point is that although he nearly signed for Spurs and was in talks with Liverpool it was Chelsea that he ended up at
  6. How can you prove that? Players progress and peak ate different rates. A prime example being Didier Drogba who signed for Chelsea at 26 and went on to improve and play the best football of his career at the club
  7. 25 isn't old. Most players don't reach their peak until they are around 27. His best footballing years are still ahead of him.
  8. This thread is getting depressing now. 108 pages of people saying it's a stupid signing, followed by people saying that people saying that its a stupid signing are just being stupid, followed by people saying that people saying..............well you get the picture. The boy has signed and is now a Chelsea player. What we need to do now is show him our support and hope that he can put in brilliant performances for our club. There's no point in continuing all this in house arguments because it's becoming tedious. Lets just get behind the lad
  9. Chris Barrie, Red Dwarf's Arnold Judas Rimmer
  10. To be fair, i've noticed in my short time being here, De Bruyne has been put way up on a pedestal by a lot of our fans. I'm not doubting his talent, nor his potential, but some people on here talk about him like he's the finished article and will be the best player who has ever lived.
  11. Well you obviously totally overlooked the whole point of my post. I clearly stated that we all know that Willian was a great player, my point was, using youtube to see how good a player is can be very deceiving. Sure I exaggerated about GMS, but the point is that video makes him look better than he is. For example, that video I posted doesn't show that GMS sometimes tries to do his fancy skills and tricks when a pass is a better option. It doesn't show that he can go quiet and be marked out of games effectively by opposition if they double up on him. Youtube videos will always focus on the good and never give a full representation of a player. Another example being, on a Dundee United forum I post on, after the announcement that Kenny Miller had retired from International football, someone posted a video showing his highlights in a Scotland shirt saying "He'll be sadly missed, thanks for the memories." Another poster then piped up, with a valid point, "Someon should make a video of all the sitters that he's missed." No doubt Kenny Miller was a great servant for Scotland but at times he was a truly awful player and the video posted didn't highlight that. I'll say it again, so that I'm not misunderstood (again) Willian is a fantastic player, but watching a 6 minute video on youtube is definitely not the way I would form my opinion on how good he is or isn't.
  12. Don't take it the wrong way, it wasn't a dig at you, I'm just saying using youtube as a reference on how good a player is, is not really worthwhile. It's nearly as bad as when people type out a list of names of players they'd like to see sign, just because they've signed them on Football Manager/Fifa
  13. Youtube is possibly the second worst scouting tool known to man. Fair enough, we all know that Willian is a good player, but by putting a few clips together you can make an average player look world class. You can also make a player who has had a decent game, look like he has had a great game. Here is a prime example, my team, Dundee United have a very good player, Gary Mackay-Steven. This video makes him look like a world beater, when realistically he is just a stand out SPL player who could possibly at best end up at middle of the road Prem team at best.
  14. If he does he should go to a club in the PL. Didn't do Lukaku any harm going to West Brom. It will help him become acclimatised to the English game
  15. Does anyone have any concrete proof that Jose wants to play Oscar deeper? Did he try it out in pre season or is it just the Internet putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with eleventy million?
  16. No need to chant. Just get one of these made into a flag
  17. Can't we just build a time machine and bring back Makalele for the pivot
  18. How does that work given that he's capped by Nigeria? Is it because he's always played in England?
  19. Na, he didn't scare me off. Amused me more than anything, I like a bit of banter me. After all it's only the Internet, if you start taking things too seriously online then it's time to turn the computer off
  20. Eto'o, if Rooney doesn't work out there has to be somebody better, and younger, available. Plus, the guy already gets paid £325k a week where he is, obviously money isn't an issue but f**k paying someone that much.
  21. I'd much rather we kept Mata and just paid £35m+ for Rooney
  22. Rio isn't really worth paying attention to TBH, I mean, the guy spend most of his free time arguing with Piers Morgan on twitter. The man has no class
