Chelsea transfer shock! Juventus want Cesc Fabregas plus world record fee for Leonardo Bonucci http://talksport.com/football/chelsea-transfer-shock-juventus-want-cesc-fabregas-plus-world-record-fee-leonardo-bonucci Juventus will sell Leonardo Bonucci to Chelsea, but only for a world-record fee for a defender PLUS Cesc Fabregas. The Italy international is Antonio Conte’s number one transfer target as he seeks to bolster a backline that has failed to convince him in his short time in charge at Stamford Bridge. The Sun says Juventus are ready to play hardball at the negotiating table and will only allow the 29-year-old to leave for a figure in excess of the £50m the Blues offered in the summer – and they want Spain midfielder Fabregas thrown in as well. Juve want the former Arsenal and Barcelona star to replace the ageing Claudio Marchisioand, having found himself out of favour since the start of this campaign, Fabregas may well be open to the move. Chelsea would prefer to keep him, but Conte may have no choice if he remains determined to bring in Bonucci to replace Gary Cahill. It is unlikely a deal will be done in January given the Serie A side’s Champions Leaguecommitments, but the two clubs look set to try to broker a deal next summer.

Cahill has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks following a number of high-profile mistakes, including a glaring error that gifted Arsenal the opening goal in Chelsea's 3-0 Premier League defeat at the Emirates Stadium last month. The former Bolton defender also had an unfortunate hand in Chelsea conceding at the Liberty Stadium when his lackadaisical attitude on the ball gave Leroy Fer the chance to pounce and fire Swansea into the lead.

Roman Abramovich ready to fund major transfers if Chelsea do not improve http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/09/26/roman-abramovich-ready-to-fund-major-transfers-if-chelsea-do-not/ Roman Abramovich is prepared to bankroll an overhaul of the Chelsea squad if the players cannot convince head coach Antonio Conte that they can compete for major honours once again. Chelsea owner Abramovich has largely backed his playing staff through Chelsea’s tumultuous 12 months in which he sacked Jose Mourinho and appointed Conte during the summer. Rather than dumping the players who made the worst-ever defence of the Premier League title and failed to qualify for Europe, Abramovich and Conte agreed to give them another chance to prove their worth.

‘Jose Mourinho massively wanted to be LIVERPOOL manager…I know that for a fact’, former Reds star tells talkSPORT http://talksport.com/football/jose-mourinho-massively-wanted-be-liverpool-manageri-know-fact-former-reds-star-tells Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was DESPERATE to land the Liverpool manager's job, former Reds star Danny Murphy has told talkSPORT. Mourinho has long been seen as the enemy on Merseyside after sparking a fierce feud between Liverpool and Chelsea during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge. And that relationship only intensified following his appointment at Old Trafford this summer. But what few people know is that the ‘Special One’ was keen on the Anfield job before his successful first stint with the Blues, and was 'massively disappointed' when he ultimately missed out on the role to Rafael Benitez. In a discussion with talkSPORT host Jim White about Manchester United’s current form, Murphy was asked if he would have liked to play for Mourinho, to which he replied: “Well, strangely, I nearly did! “When Benitez was appointed at Liverpool, it was between him and Mourinho. “I know that for a fact. Mourinho wanted the Liverpool job massively. “But Liverpool basically went with Benitez, because he’d just won the Spanish league title and UEFA Cup with Valencia and they thought that was more solid an appointment than someone who had only done it, and that time, in Portugal. “I know Mourinho was massively disappointed. “I’m gutted too, because Benitez came in and didn’t want me. I’m just gutted it wasn’t Mourinho because he might have wanted me to stay!”
