  1. Okay, I apologise. I can't definitively say "No". But given the lack of any real evidence to the contrary I'll revise my answer to "Probably not, no". And since when has the burden of proof shifted from the conspiracy theorist to the detractor? "No" is a safer bet than what you're proposing. And to what end really? The club could easily go about its business without having an individual to put focus on. And why would Roman build this idiot up to be the fall guy and the answer to questions that he has absolutely no obligation to answer? But who knows, I guess. Maybe the amount of duds we've brought in these last few windows can be directly attributed to an otherwise busy oil magnate with the bulk of his attention being directed elsewhere whilst he also tries to juggle the role of football manager. Or, and perhaps much more likely, he just employed a wholly under-qualified incompetent to do the job for him.
  2. Just thought I'd pop this little piece by Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail in here... Anyone who has seen The Sopranos will recognise the symbolism of the ducks that brought the anguished Tony happiness by settling in his swimming pool and, just as suddenly, flew away. So what are we to make of Pato, Chelsea’s duck, who arrived in the January transfer window and may now leave without playing a game for the club? Most likely, in this fascinating saga, he represents a recruitment policy that is in utter disarray, under the stewardship of the mystifyingly over-promoted Michael Emenalo. No wonder prospective manager Antonio Conte wants his own man in the role, Walter Sabatini, the current sporting director of Roma. Emenalo may have a service to perform in player development, even player sales, but if Chelsea want to mirror the advancement Tottenham have made under Mauricio Pochettino they will know that, often, the best recruitment executives are as close to the manager as they are to the boardroom. Conte needs an ally who can deliver what he wants — not another series of riddles. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3501773/Let-Danny-Drinkwater-mind-shop-England-s-shooting-stars-like-Dele-Alli-shine-Euro-2016.html
  3. Flog him. Ask for obscene money and cash in on the myth. He has had one remarkable season among promising to downright disappointing ones. He came with the promise of one day being Ronaldo/Messi level which he will never be.
  4. I don't know who the next Chelsea manager will be but he's getting sacked anyway so who cares? Who will the one after that be? And so on...
  5. Nah, rightly or wrongly, the reason people dislike the guy is because he personifies the seemingly unaccountable nature of every major club employee above the manager. I know it's fun for posters on here to be reductive and act like he's the whipping boy post José but the reality is that this is not the first time the guy's role has been questioned. I bet people sporting his avatar don't really know what he does. I bet they aren't even interested and are just being contrarian.
  6. Hard luck for Everton conceeding a blatantly offside goal, but we're due a poor decision or 10 so I'm happy enough. Frustrating how when we can be decent when it suits us but more often than not just aren't.
  7. Before, we were garbage but had a coach who was world class and could potentially kick on with new personnel. Now we're just garbage from bench, to back, to front.
  8. Not sure why Oscar and Pedro are coming in for so much criticism today. Don't think any of the squad have looked bad since the first goal.
  9. Lets compare Holland and Hiddink, if some of you want to.Holland: 3 points in 1 PL game. Thats 3 points per game. Hiddink: 2 point in 2 PL games. 1 point per game. So, Holland was better than Hiddink. It's fun, this game of selectivism... I mean, sure, but it's not exactly simple is it? Otherwise every team would do just that and we'd have 20 teams competing for the title every year.
  10. This is sort of the issue. Many of us looked at Hiddink's appointment with scepticism. That is, we didn't expect him to wave the magic wand, in fact, we didn't expect much at all. Post Chelsea what has he done to make us believe he has the ability to turn this lot around? And it's not like he was left with a bunch of scrubs during his first spell. He is well thought of here because of that first stint however that period would seem to be an exceptional case given everything since.Naturally I hope he does get this lot working together and getting results but the early signs aren't good. Folks on here complained about the atmosphere under José yet he's gone and the squad is still largley gash despite a small improvement in form -- standard new manager syndrome I think we can all agree. So then I'm informed that it's because negative José is so deeply ingrained that they just can't play good football anymore... As if we're supposed to believe that this lot just forgot to play after heavy exposure to Mourinho. There's something wrong with this team and it's much bigger than José, Drs or anything else in my opinion and I just don't see Guus sorting us out. I hope I'm wrong and wish him all the best but I honestly don't see where the improvement is going to come from.
