I watched the match, trust me, the performance was laughable!

yes England are in the W C the Water Closet ,,,better known as the toilet or SHITHOUSE

Ok, it might have been a laughable performance, but I much prefer to be trashed in a friendly than to have my World Cup spot in jeopardy!

Besides, Chile is a much better team than Ukraine...

Sweden was robbed last night. I get the feeling Ronaldo will go fishing, soon.

Most likely, Ukraine is going to advance, played well last night. Ukraine is good enough to beat France.

Let's not forget France in 2nd leg of playoffs. They got the refs on their side. 2012 Bosnia, 2010 Ireland. Does it ring a bell?

Anything may happen. I just do not believe France will score 3 goals & Ukraine none.

Even though, I would rather see France in Brazil. Somehow, it feels strange not to see France in the World Cup.

So are we not winning the world cup then lol.....a few weeks ago we looked in with a shot!Mega media hype...

England reminds me of the NY knicks.

Knicks, regardless if their poor or good, always have the most media attention in the NBA.

Also, if you do decent-well for the Knicks, you can be an overnight sensation in the NBA, similar to England.

Tonight perfectly demonstrated why we may as well just be given the world cup trophy already. In Woy and Glen Johnson we twust!!!

when you have watched almost 50 years of abject football from your national side combined with 50 years of media over hyping them you will understand the English

viewpoint

But this is what I dont understand...

I have seen many English members on this forum bashing their NT and the hype of the media, almost everyone on TC doesnt like International Football, especially England. However, English fans were the most present crowd in the last 2 WCs (Germany and South Africa) and are expected to be the 3rd or 4th most present fans in Brazil (losing to USA and Argentina).

I feel a huge level of indiference when I read your posts, but when I see the touristic/presence statistics it shows me otherwise. For me, it is a complete paradox between you not caring about the team and the great numbers and noise level your fans show in international competitions.

How do you explain that?

Because we do care during a World Cup and Euros. Its a cultural thing that we always think or believe we have a chance of winning it no matter how shit we have been. We take huge numbers of fans to tournaments because of a mix of love of football and patriotism and just love the World Cup for the buzz it gives the country at the time, flags hanging out of windows everywhere, pubs completely full of football fans etc.

What you said= the meaning of a world cup.

Also, how big is the rivalry between Argentina vs. England? The media makes it seem like they hate each other.
