Not close to signing anyone and our most dangerous attacking player Pulisic is out for a significant period now.

What a depressing press conference that was! 😣

By the sounds of it Lampard is going down the Klopp route of waiting until bonafide top level upgrades become avalible, which is a good thing.

as long as Tammy doesn't get Injured I feel like we don't need a top level striker I think we just need someone better then Giroud and Bats.

My preference for a new striker is Morelos.

He seems to have sorted out his discipline issues this season and he's the perfect striker for a pressing team, has shades of Suarez about him.

It is but it is also risky at the same time. 😬

In a somewhat related Sancho news...

Looks like Sane could well join Bayern in the summer - they are still interested AFAIK - and if so, City may be on the lookout for a new winger...

Neither way is risk free.

I'd understand taking a short term approach if we're in a title race bit 'just' for 4th?

Better pray we fix our home form AND Abraham doesn't get injured!

Scenes if Abraham gets injured when we play Leicester on Feb 1...

I hope not.

That would be moronic by all accounts from the manager to board level and above. It is clear Frank doesnt rate Giroud or Batshuayi so why is the club sitting on its hands, doing fuck all? He should be pushing them too saying look we are short in this position, go get X, Y or Z. Also with the talk of selling Giroud this month it makes me even more baffled.

Frank and the club didnt have to buy in the summer except Kovacic but I am not expecting that Frank and the club hasnt drawn up a list of players when he came in and since coming in he likes... even more baffled that this Moussa Dembele talk has taken Frank by surprise despite the rumor we made a bid. Its looking very confusing. Almost contradictory.

Lampard was kinda swerving around it when asked earlier, made it look super convincing with his usual elaborated answers. Either he was telling the truth or he is a good liar!

Christensen out Ake in makes sense.

Chris just like Rudiger and Zouma prefers RCB position. Only Tomori prefers to play on the left just like Ake who is also left footed and can play LB too. More physical defender on the right Rudi-Zouma and more technical on the left side Tomori-Ake. Makes sense.

If you think ake is wc or very to close to wc then this is a no brainer. But if you think he is just better than Christensen, I much rather spend money on clear need. We have lb problem, we have no true dm, lamp only trust one striker.

I honestly do not think LB, DMF, AMF, CF, and probably perhaps even winger are going to be addressed this January

hell if things go truly pear shaped this summer, they might not be fixed then either, especially if we do not get CL for next year (as that crushes reveniew and hrts top-noth player recruitment versus other huge clubs who will have it)

I get why people are upset by Frank's comments but in fairness when you believe almost every rumor that comes out and identify positions that you think we need to strengthen rather than knowing what the club wants, well your setting yourself up for that. Personally if we aren't signing short term replacements, at stupid prices because the club would rather blood more you and save money until summer time then I'm happy enough.

Frank Lampard has hinted that he is not looking to sign Issa Diop despite Chelsea being linked with the West Ham defender.

http://londonfootballnews.co.uk/chelsea/lampard-hints-that-chelsea-are-not-chasing-west-ham-star/

And the former England midfielder also suggested reports he wants Lyon forward Moussa Dembele are wide of the mark – and that other stories linking players with Chelsea have been inaccurate too.

“He (Dembele) is a player I know and a player the club know,” Lampard said.

“But I’m surprised to see his name pop up so regularly when it’s not popping up in my conversations so regularly, to be brutally honest, and there’s quite a few players in the last week that I could say the same about.”

As for Christensen, Lampard insisted there was no prospect of the centre-back leaving.

He said: “I can rule it out. I like Andreas as a player. What I want Andreas to be is the best he can be.”

I can sum up this entire thread

Either Lampard is flat out lying for days (weeks?) now

OR

most every single story linking us with every player we have been talking about (and also so many of our sales)

has been totally made-up complete tosh (even Ake, ffs, which just boggles my mind as he is left-footed and has played at LB before multiple times in the past and now we will lose his buyback as well)

I admit, I know that often, and in every window too, so much of the press speculation is rot

but I never have seen it to this level before, where it is looking like it ALL was fantasyland spew

Really makes you wonder if Sancho, Werner, and Chilwell attempts supposedly coming in the summer are pure made up pish as well

we might be going into Victimpool transfer-mode (except without the Scousers' quality and certainly without their results)

You can either use the press to help in negotiating a better price, or get hurt by the press always talking about this massive amount of money you have to pay for over inflated prices. Being able to say we do not need anyone being run through the gossip columns may help.

Tbh I saw the Barca-Atletico result without checking the scorers then saw your post and assumed he had a mind changing screamer of a match

If he had.. it would have the joke funnier. Unfortunately he didnt and only WHS caught it lol.

It seems Wenger's "there's no value in January" observation has finally come true. None of the big clubs doing significant (or any) business this month. Even the ones who desperately need additions like Spuds/Arse/United aren't doing shit.

Problem with this is that many of these big clubs will surely be waiting on the same few top players and hoping they're the ones who can convince them to choose them. It'll be a battle between like a dozen clubs for Werner/Sancho/Chilwell etc.
